As a golfing novice, I wasn't filled with enthusiasm at the prospect of an early morning lesson with the husband and nippers, especially as we were enjoying the kind of weather where it's rainy enough to get in your eyes and soak you, but not enough to put up an umbrella, especially a golf umbrella.
So there I was, behaving in the manner of a surly teenager at a family dinner when the friendly coach turned up, equipped us with clubs and balls and had us teeing off before I had the chance to even tut or sigh.
And here's the shock, I actually really enjoyed it. Bob totally knew his stuff, and had a great way of teaching us the technical bits without making the kids' eyes glaze over. Not easy to pull off but he did it.
We had a full hour of tuition at the fab price of £20 for the four of us. Considering I was quoted four times that at another club, that's excellent value.
If you already know what you are doing, you can also just turn up and play and as you are right on the coast, the views are truly spectacular.
I was so fired up by my first lesson that the husband had to restrain me from buying the full outfit and a set of clubs in the on-site shop. Moderation never has been my friend. read more
