Disclousure Or Exposure ? I have been supporting Rare Earth in Ashland. For Over 15 years. It's Great Store. Mostly due to the Big Screen, Music. From reading Previous Reviews. There are Several disappointed Customer from their experience there as well. And I Give Credit were it is earned. Most of you Know it's moved Several X. Most of us like the store in the Beginning. And the friendly Service we had then. Unfortunate Many Retailers are following suite with Disgruntal Employees. Understandably. Thier Over Worked and Paid Peanuts. Underpaid. However Today. November 8, 2025. The Employee looked like, sounded like an Angel. Very lovely. I came in for a return. On a Wallet I bought on 11/02/25. At 1st it looked fine. When I took off the sticker. It left a residue of glue. So I went in today for a return. And with my receipt that does say. All sales final. Which the Original Cashier Cat. Did Not inform me about. And I did not know until today for my return. So Today. I showed the cashier the wallet and the residue of glue. And asked for a cash return. Which was how I paid. Of course most are Charging for purchases. She looked at the wallet saw the glue. Then showed me the receipt with All Sales Final. And said I can't return it. Noted. I Know she's doing what the Owner says. I Send My apology to her. So she went in the back to get the owner, She came out and I Knew Immediately she was Not gona Budge on "Her Policy" She Knows Most of What She Sells is Low Quality Landfill Material. Some things are better. Yet from Being Over Seas I can tell the difference. The purchase was "Only" $19.95. The store must have made a couple Thousand on this day and Not Including the past Several Weeks. My Perspectice is. I Paid Cash. I was Not told about the Policy. And as previous Reviews say the Register is a Dinosaur. And the Recipts are very small. Its Way Out Dated. With being a Long Time Ashland Customer Who The Owners Knows has been supporting her Business. $19.95 is something that a Legit, Transparent Business Owner would be glad to do. By the way is Excatly what the Flower Shop did a few doors away. Did a return for me. That I also paid in cash. It's Obvious it's Good Business Practice. To Return something that was not a Quality item and was purchased just 6 Days Prior. And this is not a complaint. It's only a Review about unethical Business practices. My Wish is for All Busines Owners to Prosper, Thrive when Knowing Every Customer is Contributing to this and thier Abundant and Successful future. May All Beings Experience Health, Wealth And Happiness. 1 Thing about Most Businesses If they say. All Sales Final. #1. Inform Every Customer at the time of Purchase. #2. Unless it's a Worn Undergarment Some Sort of Personal Item that's been used. All Sales Final is a Red Flag. Something is Not Right. It's Smells Fishy. this happened like a year ago but i think it's important to say this. the employees lost something, blamed it on me and my friend, we both gave them our backpacks and cleared our pockets, however they didn't search the backpacks at all and insisted we had stolen but didn't want their item back, and they proceeded to kick us out, call the police, and give our pictures from security cameras to other stores telling them we were thieves (we literally did not steal anything, they knew they don't have camera footage of us stealing) read more

Update: the rings unfortunately do turn your fingers green but it's not very noticeable and it washed pretty much right off my finger. Of course you can fix this with a top coat or something and the rings are still gorgeous, just not for every day wear. I still love this store and the employees! They do an outstanding job and making you feel welcome and the store is just beautiful read more

I could spend hours in this cute little shop. So much jewelery, tons of crystals, bottles, clothes, boxes and all kinds of amazing pieces here. The clearest quartz crystals I've ever seen! A great selection. I'll definitely be coming back if I'm ever in Ashland again! I do have one bummer comment, and I hate to even bring it up because my experience was absolutely amazing here. My reason for doing so is to encourage the shop to upgrade their register. (I know it can be costly, but it seems as though it needs to happen) I had the sweetest cashier, who also helped us with the jewelry, very nice and efficient. She did amazing and my qualm is certainly not with her! I want her to know that!! However, I was charged for an extra crystal. As a cashier in a gift shop myself, I know this happens, I know it's super easy to do especially with older registers, and looking at the receipt I can totally see how she missed the extra crystal charge (she had actually double checked herself during check out because she noticed the final price seemed high). The receipt is tiny, and at a glance it looks accurate, I almost missed it myself until I really looked at it and double checked what I had purchased. So again, this is not about the amazing young lady who helped me. She wrapped my crystals up well and was genuinely amazing. The shop should absolutely update their register so the cashier's can more effectively double check what they are ringing up. There are a ton of tiny items here, prices vary widely, and the system they have is very out of date. Typing in every price, keeping track of what you've entered and then having to check a tiny receipt still attached to the register creates way too much room for error. I feel for these cashier's. Mistakes happen, it's unavoidable. I can't imagine working with that dinosaur of a register. Lol Also I want to point out, I myself did not check the receipt until I got back to my hotel and the business was closed, so that is entirely on me! We leave tomorrow, and I'm going to consider it as a donation to the shop with warm regards! I really love local shops and I wish this business the absolute best. Do not trust their hours!! The only store on Main Street that closed before their hours state. I was so ready to drop some loot sneaking to get Xmas gifts while kids skated and they closed well before their hours SO incredibly disappointing and lost my business as well as everyone I can tells business for this simple mistake on their part. This shop sold my son fake pokemon cards knowingly. The pack says pokemon on it. When we went back to return the cards they said "all sales are final" and pointed to a very small sticker that said "authenticity $" or something like that. I said that it should be very clear the cards are fake if they were going to sell them that a small vague sticker doesnt suffice especially for kids spending their allowance. It seems selling fake products like this would be illegal. Anyhow what bothered me is that they refused to tale back the unopened packs we bought just minutes ago. My son was so sad but learned a lesson abput watching out for bad business practices. read more

It's been quite a while since I've been to Rare Earth, this is the first time since they've moved actually! The store is very small but quite charming, with lots of eclectic merchandise. A great selection of clothing, jewelry, incense, body care items, books, and more. After looking on their website, I wanted to go in for some Nag Champa soap. The girl working there was very sweet and helpful (she was also nice to my foster brother, big plus for me). I bought soap as well as two skirts! Rare Earth is closing. Molly M's review gives some of its history. There used to be a guy w/ a cart selling homemade lemonade in front of the store when it was in its old location. Simply heaven on a hot summer day. Don't know what happened to him but it's been years since he was there. It's been a long while since Rare Earth offered anything that drew me in. I used to buy bath oil beads in various colors and shapes in the old location. Stock used to be Cost Plusish and interesting. When they moved to the current location the store became long and narrow and the stock began to feel constricted. Service has been kind of surly when I *have* come in to check out what they had. Now everything in the store is 25% off. I bought several bath bombs. Not much else called to me. When we return in October it will probably be gone. It pains me to have to give Rare Earth three stars. Back in the day, early 80's (that's right), Rare Earth was the shit. It was located where Renaissance Rose now is and it was heaven on earth. In the back of the store, records only. Yes, we called them records back then.. God, those were the days.....(I miss those days). It was a simple store. Cassette tapes and records. Life was so simple then. ... Fast forward to 2008, Rare Earth is now about two doors down in a tiny-ass, narrow hallway and it totally blows. I couldn't even force myself to enter, it was too depressing. I'll just hold tight to the memories of the good ole days of Rare Earth when records were $7.50. Wow, that's two for $15.00!! I wish I had some pictures to post of Rare Earth, it's a such mish-mash of everything imagineable. It was definitely one of my favorite stores in Ashland during college, especially for gifts. In one corner were household goods such as beautiful mugs, vases, rugs, and such. In the back was a full on jewelry store with some good finds. Next to that was the clothing section, where I found some pretty stylish dresses and jeans. There was a little spot for candy, and then the soap/toiletry area with good smelling things. Downstairs was replete with an entire music store(!) on one side and trinket/toy/book store on the other. There were posters, stuffed animals, birthday cards, and stash boxes (hmmm). We're talking high quality, almost artisan stuff here. I wouldn't stop here for gifts having anything to do with Ashland or Oregon, but it's a cool shop for youngsters and adults alike. read more

Rare earth would be pretty typical of a lot of places I've been in my area, but a treat in Ashland. I was able to get some elephant bells for my big grey "elephant" of a van. Let me say at the outset that historically I have loved Rare Earth but a recent employee has soured the experience. I have frequented Rare Earth many times throughout the years. Incense, tapestries and TONS of turquoise jewelry. The owner has gotten to know us a little and even greeted us on our way in yesterday as she was on her way out! Great recall considering it was probably three months since we saw her last. That's the sort of great service we've come to expect. Then came the new lady we'd never met. Essentially this was the rudest, worst experience we've ever had at Rare Earth. To begin with we weren't greeted with the typical warm welcome we're used to here. Rather, this woman pointed at us and said, "Did you two come in together?" and then proceeded to tell us she would be happy to open the case of turquoise for us but "ask me before you touch anything. I'd appreciate that." We were nicely dressed, cordial and also adults, so why were we being treated like shoplifters? Then when we found a bracelet we liked. We asked her to get it (since obviously we're children who can't be trusted) and found it had no price. First she told us she didn't have the "authority" to set a price and when we asked her to call the owner who had left literally 10 minutes earlier she said she didn't have "access" to do that. This is garbage considering another lovely employee there called the owner for us before to get a price in a similar situation. Her rudeness and unwillingness to help was amazing. I finally refused to do business with her and as we were leaving she said, "Oh, I feel like I upset you." Wow, what an astute observation. We will definitely return to Rare Earth but if we see this woman in the store we're leaving to come back another time when she's gone. What a terrible experience. read more

I used to love this place when I was a teenager. The place reeks of Nag Champa Incense yum. Cd's, Black lights, Posters, Jewelry, Pins, Stickers, Lava lamps, Jewelry, rugs, toys and much more. It brings back good old memories from the 90s when I was 14 to 18. I got caught stealing for the first time here at age 14. A little box with suede. Yea the owner is a prick. I am sad that i hear it's closing. I can't imagine why. That really sucks. read more
