So it's over 5 years since my last review (5 stars) and my opinion has only gotten better. Joe, Jody, and Justin run a business that is as good as it gets. I can relate some of many examples. 1. Joe dropped everything, literally, and ran across the street to my wife's pre-school and managed to unlock a vehicle that a frantic young mom had accidentally locked her son in. The police officer who responded at the same time was about to break the window, but Joe got the door unlocked, freed the frightened child, comforted the hysterical mom, and wouldn't take a penny. He likes to say that doing the right thing is its own reward. 2. Justin has taken amazing care of my elderly mother. She drops off her car, he drives her home and then drops the car off again when its finished. Every little rattle, dashboard light, streaky windshield wiper, or minor issue gets his sincere attention, and he has even driven to Wayne to help her in a parking lot when she didn't have the car completely in park and couldn't get it started. 3. From pulling a coin out of the track of my wife's driver's seat so it could be adjusted, to bending a bent hinge on a door when a deer ran into the side of her car, there have been many times when the Romolas just know what to do, get it done in an instant telling you "have a great day" while refusing to take any money. Auto repairs can be subjective. One place will tell you to replace everything because they just care about making more money. My first trip to RAR and I was very impressed. Solid communication by text and calls. Easy to setup an appointment via their website. I knew the power steering pump was shot on my truck and was happy to hear they confirmed the issue. Price was very reasonable and gave me multiple options in parts to choose. They did point out a couple other things that could go wrong down the line, but I probably won't have the truck for much longer. I recently purchased an old Jeep Cherokee, so I figured I would take it in to RAR and see if they'd perform a full inspection and tune-up for me. The owner, Joe, was very friendly when I spoke with him on the phone, and continued to be very cordial throughout our communications over the weekend. The building itself is immaculate, which certainly inspires confidence for an automotive repair shop (After all, if a mechanic is lazy with the upkeep of his own property, why wouldn't he be lazy with the upkeep of someone else's property?). Joe called me and we spoke thoroughly about everything he'd found during his inspection and I asked him to install new brakes and rotors as well as figure out an odd Check Engine light issue I was having with my oil pressure. I received my truck back 5 days later and found my vehicle to be running considerably better than when I dropped it off. The oil pressure sensor was replaced, the oil screen cleaned, oil and filters changed, and the oil pan cleaned. A friend of mine who is a Jeep mechanic took a look at the engine after I'd gotten my jeep back and confirmed that Joe did a thorough job. The only bad part about my first experience with RAR was that I was told my truck would be completed by End of Day on Saturday but I didn't receive a single call from them all weekend. When I finally called them on Monday morning to see what was going on, I was told I'd be able to pick the truck up Tuesday afternoon. I arrived to find my truck sitting in the parking lot with the driver's side window completely open. I'm a little bothered by the lack of communication I received and the absent-mindedness of leaving my window open, but overall I found my experience to be ultimately positive. Joe Romola seems like an honest mechanic, and everyone I spoke to at the shop was friendly and helpful. My truck is running considerably better than it was when I dropped it off, and I certainly plan to return in the future to have some additional work completed on it. Clean shop, good first experience, great mechanic - 3 stars for now. I plan to update my review again in the future, but for now I'll say that I can safely recommend Joe Romola and RAR Corporation as a capable and competent automotive repair business. read more

I've been going to this mechanic for a few years, so this review will be based on my collective experience. I am actually writing this review now that I've decided to stop going to this shop. I started going mostly out of convenience because they were very close to where I live, the staff is professional and the aesthetic of the building is very clean and nice, it almost looks like it was once a salon. My first impression was they seemed pretty honest with their assessment with my cars and they were very helpful in addressing all my concerns. However over the years I noticed a few bad experiences personally. A few years ago I was told I needed to change out my belt. The day I picked up my car I drove to a friend's house and left late at night. While on the highway I knew the belt had malfunctioned when my power steering went out. I was stranded at midnight on the highway because my belt had snapped. Called a tow company, dropped it here and it was replaced the next morning and the owner reimbursed me for the towing. That was all he did. Another time I brought in my car I was told the exhaust system was damaged beyond repair and needed the whole thing replaced. Went to a friend who lives far away and he said he could fix it with some patch work and welding. A week ago, I took another car here and was told I need to fix a leak by the rack and pinion system, replace the brakes and replace the muffler and a part of the exhaust. Estimate was over 2,000. Took it to a mechanic friend of mine again and he said the leak is minor, the exhaust can be fixed with welding and the brakes could be replaced with some maintenance all for $500. I don't believe at all that this shop was trying to rip me off. They were fair in their assessment, professional and their facility is very nice. But when it comes to a mechanic, I'm tired of this attitude of "all minor problems need a complete overhaul of replacement parts and extra man hours for labor". What happened to fixing things? Regardless, this has been my experience with this shop. Go here if you have the money to afford replacing every small thing wrong with your car, because I believe they'll find it and address it, but if you just want your car fixed, I believe there are places that are more affordable and will give you better advice. I believe they do generally good work here but I've gone to this shop long enough to know I don't want to come back. read more

What began as a great oil change deal, quickly became the only mechanic I would go to! It's a daunting task to find a TRUSTWORTHY, RELIABLE, GENUINE, KNOWLEDGEABLE, and FINANCIALLY FAIR mechanic. One would say that it does not exist! However, RAR is certainly that place! Joe Romola sincerely puts the customer first. He shops around for the best deal for the customer, provides straightforward guidance--no bs, and really surpasses himself every time. Not to mention the gorgeous new location--one feels right at home while waiting for their vehicle. It is warm and inviting, boasting professionalism and hospitality.
