This would be one of those moments where you don't judge a book by the cover. We were greeted very well by the owner who was super accommodating. We got checked in and were shown to our room. This lodging facility appears to have been a military style or medical style housing facility. They did a great job converting to a single or double occupancy facility. The room was very large and spacious. Present in our room was what appeared to be a California King size bed. The mattress was a little more firm then we were used to but not uncomfortable and slept well. The room was broken up with the shower on one side and the lavatory on the other. Amenities were simple and personable. The bar on site is fully stocked to your pleasure. Food wise your choices are limited in the hotel but the restaurant across the street can fill the void. I appreciate the the friendly conversation and accommodations provided. It will certainly warrant a return visit if and when we are in the area again.

This is my second stay in this locally owned place. The first time was fine. Second time was…read more.. mixed. The hotel is a one-level layout: old fashioned with all rooms open to the front. There is an older section that is from the 50s., a newer section, located up a slope, from the 1990s. The first stay was in the newer section. The room was comfortable and clean, appointed with expected furniture and amenities. The layout and plumbing are old style. The bed was comfortable. The room is heated and cooled by an older type under-the-window HVAC unit common on older hotels. The place is showing some signs of wear. The story from this visit: This most recent visit, on June 18, 2024, I was given a room in the older section. The door was missing the security bar, the deadbolt was difficult to engage, requiring a push on the door. There was a remote control for a HVAC unit, but it was not in evidence in the room. It may have been removed. The day outside was warm and the room uncomfortably warm. I've never done this, but this time I asked to be moved to another room. The desk clerk was responsive and assigned me a room in the upper, newer section. It was as comfortable as the one I had the first stay 2 years ago. So, I recommend this hotel with reservations: if you are booking a room, ensure that you are assigned a room in the newer section, rooms 35 and up. it will prove equal to a mid-range chain hotel. Avoid the older section.

In addition to the fact that they were professional, friendly, and easy to work with, the sandwiches and potato salad were absolutely divine. (I grew up eating my mother's potato salad, and I always thought it was fantastic, but Rennie's was out-of-this-world good. Sorry, Mom.) Even though I live in Indianapolis, I will contact Just Rennie's for all future business lunches/dinners that I need to have catered in Evansville and southwestern Indiana. Best cookies ever - and this coming from a non-sweet tooth kind of girl. They also now have a lunch counter downtown which is amazing, although kind of pricey. Totally worth it though. I used to stop here to pick up lunch when I felt like treating myself. Potato salad is great, as is everything else. Yum yum yum! Try Rennie's and I promise you won't regret it. Seriously. Ordered flowers online for delivery for a birthday. The day of delivery, Zeidler's called me to say…read morethe address did not exist. I said I have had them deliver to this particular address many times. Turns out, they had some digits crossed. No big deal. The delivery person was in the subdivision and would make the delivery. Fine....Until it wasn't. I had put in the "instructions" section to leave the flowers on the front porch by the bench. I left work and went to the house to retrieve the flowers, and they were surprisingly not there. When I called Zeidler's and asked where they were, they said they could not not deliver the flowers because no one was home! I knew the recipient would not be home when I ordered them. That's why I left the instructions for them to be left on the porch by the bench! They lady on the phone, "R", said they did not leave the flowers because it's too hot outside. Are you kidding me? Not Zeidler's decision to make! Pretty sure if I have to pay the price they want for the flowers, then I get to make the decisions, here. I asked why was I given the option to leave delivery instructions, if Zeidler's won't follow them? Furthermore, why didn't they call me THEN if they knew they were not going to deliver them? They called me about the address. Why not call me when they decided definitively NOT to deliver my order at all??? Instead I had to call Zeidler's to find out they were not delivering my order. What was the plan, then? Where were these flowers going? Ridiculous. I told them to give me my money back if they are not going to deliver them! They said they would. They better. Additionally, they called the would-be recipient about the flowers NOT being delivered. I can't believe I have to explain this, but seriously, you should not require the recipient's phone number to call THEM when there is a delivery issue! The flowers were a surprise for a birthday. Instead, what you surprised the recipient with is the fact that they are NOT having flowers delivered to them on their birthday! So, Happy Birthday!!! How stupid. I have used Zeidlers many times before, but never will again. What a ridiculous mess.
