All the "excellent" reviews are from contributors with no backing! Pretty sure they are fake or bought reviews. My neighbor contracted this business for a long distance residential move from the west coast to northern mid-west. I can tell you, their excitement went from 100% "yea! It's really happening!!" to a BIG F... "We're 4 days behind schedule! Work starts next week! All our sleeping accommodations are reserved and paid for! And the truck and crew are 4 days late with no firm set arrival date or time!" Calls go unanswered. Customer service rep plays the good guy until worrisome calls become repetitive, then they just avoid picking up altogether. Time frame given by the crew when they do pick up calls are inconsistent, resulting in further delays. I have never seen a young family this stressful! Especially over the reliability and punctuality of a business claiming to be "5 stars" So heed this warning! Don't be fooled by the false 5 star ratings! There is definitely something sketchy is going on. Weed out the 5 stars, then you'll see reviews left by real people, who have contributed reviews towards other businesses. I would give this company a zero if I could. I wish I had the time to tell you of the experience that I had this company. Of course, the owner was very nice when I was vetting this company. After I sent the deposit, it was the worst experience I have ever had regarding moving. I was moving from CA to MD. First, they didn't show up on time. Showed up a day later. The people that showed up, were not the people I hired. The people who delivered my goods were not the people I hired. A completely different set of people who came to pick up my goods. The staff at Rapid were the rudest set of people I could ever have imagined. When my goods were finally delivered, about a month late, they were damaged, lots of broken items, items missing / stolen. They stole furniture along with other items. My furniture has furnished someone else's apartment. Two swivel chairs that were barely used, an oil painting, lamps, a beautiful desk, where they took off the legs from the desk top and only returned the legs, and many, many items broken or damaged. The delivery guys from a different company had a nasty attitude, laying all over my porch, using my bathroom without asking. Just a horrible attitude. When I was able to go through my items, I submitted a claim. Rapid never presented this to their insurance company, and I received a nasty reply from the insurance claims person at Rapid. I sued them, and they skipped their office before Fed Ex could make a delivery of the court papers. I won the case because they never showed up. However, I could never find where they relocated to, of course. Rapid, if you are reading this post, know that you owe me some money! Also, I reported you to the Better Business Bureau! Potential customers save yourself a headache. Use someone else. It has been over two years now, and I am still upset about this move. Every time I tell someone about my experience, they can't believe this happened. I trusted them to assist me as I was ill at the time, and they have totally shattered my trust in moving companies. WORST experience ever that left me completely screwed. Quoted for $2,600 and on day of pick up the price changed to $5,000.. This was my first time using a moving company and I had my hesitations from all the stories. Turns out they are all TRUE. I set up my quote with Brian for my one bedroom apartment for my move to Arizona. Quote came in the lowest of all the other companies I had talked to and he was the most customer service forward. I was given a 2 day window of when they would pick up my stuff. A month before my move, I changed my dates from Friday/Saturday to Wednesday/Thursday. I signed a new quote and thought all was good. I followed up constantly to make sure my move went as I needed it to. I spoke with Trish, very wonderful customer service, for my verification on my pick up dates. That was when it all went very badly down hill. I was told, I would only get one hour notice before they arrived Day of the pick up and that if the team has not called me by 5pm the first day then they would be coming the next day but no more detailed information. In the first day I followed up 3 times checking on where I fell in line for the pick up. All seemed like it was going towards pick up on the second day. I was told not to worry that they would for sure come the next day. Sooo next day rolls around, I again follow up throughout the day twice before getting a call saying they had messed up my schedule pick up day and that I was not on the calendar till Friday/Saturday. I found this out 3pm Thursday night about this. She was extremely apologetic and went to work trying to fix the error. I had my utilities cancelled and had an appointment to get my new keys and to give my old ones. I was told they would not be able to come till Friday morning for my move. This literally threw off everything, by the time they would have arrived I would miss my window to get my new keys and would have no where to sleep that night. I was able to rearrange some of my personal stuff to accommodate and when they did arrive on Friday morning, they looked at my one bedroom (queen bed, exercise bike, 26 boxes, a dresser, dinning room table, 9 tubs and some misc items) and said there was too much stuff and they needed to recalculate the cubic feet. They pretty much doubled my cost. I had to tell them to leave since I couldn't afford it. Quoted a low price, team arrives and it's double. Never heard from sales guy again. Quote was to come and load all my stuff, disassemble furniture, to be reassembled on the other side by Rapid Van Lines employees. I was specifically told they do not subcontract the trucks, etc., which is why they're the safe bet. Neither of those things are true. Attempting to schedule drop off was difficult. Eventually, Jim H told me he didn't know why I was talking to him, that I needed to coordinate with the driver (contract driver). Call the driver, who doesn't even have my address on the day of delivery, and he asks me how many guys I need to unload my stuff. Driver gets here an hour after the crew is standing in my driveway. Speed is the game - unload as fast as possible. No making sure it's in the right place, no placement of furniture, just jam it in there. Master bedroom left with dresser upside down that now we have to flip over. All the boxes were smashed - these were brand new boxes at time of pickup. Customer service is non existent. You call and they don't answer, leave a voicemail then maybe they'll text you two lines back. This company is a facade. I would not recommend it to anyone. Never in my life have I experienced such poor customer service especially from management. On pick up day, they attempted to charge us over double what our estimate was, used a 3rd party moving company that had no Dod number, and whose movers left without picking up our stuff. When I tried to Talk with Jim, the Assistant Operations Manager, he spent the 10 minute phone conversation yelling at me, cussing at me, then apologizing because he was "thinking of another client.." just to turn around and cuss me out and hang up on me when I asked for them to work with us and help me understand why the quote was 3000 and the 3rd party mover is telling me 7k. Keep in mind we have a 2 bedroom condo in the heart of LA. To try and avoid this, I had asked Chris Clay, the original employee who provided us with the estimate, to please send a foreman to ensure an accurate estimate where he stated "that's not something our company does" forgetting that he had told me they offer that during the consultation process. When I talked with Jim, the manager, he said " Why the hell would I waste money on a foreman going to a small property like yours." To top if off, Chris Clay, the original employee who gave us the estimate, was MIA. He wasn't answering his phone nor responding to texts after he stated multiple times during the consultation that he would be there to assist us every step of the day. In addition, Chris also stated multiple times that any company that uses 3rd party vendors are unreliable just to make the sale. This company is a scam and truly tries to put families in a corner to spend double the money they quote them on all while cussing them out and providing no support or explanation. Luckily we have some time before our lease ends to find other movers and were not forced to go with Rapid Van Lines. Worst experience ever! Read my story before booking with this company. After waiting for 2 months for the claims and submitting to BBB without any response, I decided to do this review in the hopes other people don't fall under their trap. We moved from Castro Valley, CA to Fort Lauderdale, FL. They are really good at selling the service, so I decided to pull the trigger and make the reservations for my move with them. It was the worst nightmare ever since after the moment I submitted the first payment. I had a bad hunch when I haven't received any calls to confirm when the movers were coming and who was coming. I called several times the day before, they were horribly rude and hung up on me and my husband several times. Instead of showing up on 06/30 as requested originally, they showed up on 07/01 around 4pm to move a 4BR house. Crew arrived smelling like pot, throwing everything in boxes without properly packing them as we already paid for. They finished almost at 2am (knowing we are a family with a young kid). The original estimate that was $10450.80 (supposedly included move, full packing), paid 25% for reservation, 50% more at pickup but turns out that we had to pay $7k more on top of it or they would not take it (of course everything was in the truck at the time, so we moved forward). Next day of pickup in the morning we are leaving the house in CA for good and we saw an important piece of our bed on the street. I called the company, they say they would pick it up, they never did. Two weeks happened with NO NEWS from them, I tried to call several times, no response or same rude responses from their "customer service" team. Three days before delivery they called me asking for the remaining 25% or otherwise my stuff was going to a storage truck and I had to pay even more, I had to send a wire, immediate and irreversible money transfer. At this point I thought they actually "kidnap" my stuff and they were asking for a ransom... not knowing what to do, I ended up paying for it... I also thought it was a scam and would never get my stuff... finally, they delivered our stuff. They never told me also that our stuff was going to a storage unit in CA until they could find a truck to transport it to FL, but we learnt about it when the new truck arrived. Unfortunately, half of our stuff arrived BROKEN, SCRATCHED, UNUSABLE... glass or ceramic things where shattered into thousands of pieces spread in different boxes. The piece of our bed, of course never arrived but it didn't matter because the rest of our bed was a total crap, also broken, went straight to garbage. However once it came to pick up our household items for our cross country move they kept changing our pick up date on us and could not narrow down a window. As many other reviews state, Rapid Van Lines (RVL) has unprofessional and insincere business practices. I'll summarize our own cross-country move issues below: - Under-quoted when booking. Movers' arrive, price doubles. There is not enough room on the truck, so the movers unload their other 2 moves from the day onto our lawn to load some of our stuff. Some items from all 3 moves' loads end up strapped onto the loading bed of the truck (outside of the truck) while driving through LA to their warehouse. - The movers return the next day to load the rest of our stuff. Turned out they a) hadn't actually recorded everything onto their inventory sheet that we were forced to sign on the first day, and b) at least 2 (expensive/important) items ON the inventory sheet weren't actually labeled with a sticker. (We learned all this after the fact) - Different movers came each day. Both were late. On the second day, they told us 12pm and didn't arrive until 8pm. - Our stuff takes weeks to reach destination with poor communication about whereabouts. Was told "it's still in LA" about 12 hours before movers called stating they were an hour from our new home. - Truck arrives (Budget rental truck). It's clear no attention was given to any of our fragile boxes, most of which were UNDER other boxes, damaged, etc. The TV was packed in original packaging but was upside down and underneath other boxes. A 60lb table was literally thrown on top of a stack of boxes, some of which were labeled 'fragile'. - The movers could not unload our stuff until we sent money via venmo to their boss who worked at the warehouse that loaded their truck. This felt incredibly sketchy (of RVL, using all these third parties and being completely unreachable to confirm if this was legitimate). We paid since our belongings were being held hostage on the truck. We were then asked to resend the money because they "never got it." After an hour of following up, someone did in fact find my money (that had already left my bank account!) - The movers told us this is how most moves with RVL go for them - boxes destroyed or lost, people being underquoted. There were only TWO movers to unload a 3BR, 2 BA home (we had 4-5 movers load in LA!). They also told us how underpaid THEY are, having to drive across 4 states in one day to complete 3 moves, all for some ridiculously low payment. In order to get the inventory done fast enough as they were moving things, we had to help them unload the truck. I was WEARING A BABY while unloading my own belongings, trying to record our broken items, and send other people's items back onto the truck. - We had over 20 boxes/pieces of furniture lost or broken to the points of needing replacement. Some lost items were priceless and irreplaceable. Some were wrapped by the movers and still were destroyed. This does not include countless items INSIDE boxes that were damaged. - We ended up with one box that wasn't ours; despite me giving the inventory number, photos, the sticker number, the date of the move, the names of the movers, etc... NO FOLLOW UP. So I have zero faith they made any effort to locate any of our lost items. - All conversations with Trish involved her complaining about other customers. Conversations with Jim were limited, as he just hung up on us. - I waited to write this review until a claim resolution was offered, giving them one last chance for redemption... maybe 2 stars instead of 1. RVL offers no assistance with completing the initial claims form and will not answer a single question about how they reached their unreasonable 'resolution,' stating we would need to move to arbitration. In summary, do not use this company. It is not worth the risk, the heartache, the time, or the demeaning attitudes of staff. It's only a matter of time until the business goes under anyway, so don't risk losing your belongings to their poor business practices. read more

HOW IS THIS COMPANY STILL IN BUSINESS?!? This is the most dishonest, unprofessional, and disorganized company we've ever dealt with! Words can't begin to express how terribly we were treated by every staff member, how much they ripped us off, and how they ruined our whole moving experience for a solid 2 months. We were charged almost TRIPLE the estimate we received to move from LA to Portland, lied to that it would only take about 4-7 business days to receive our things (when it took 40!), were never informed that they were just brokers so our things would sit in storage for over a month because they had no trucks, given no info from the reps on an estimated date of delivery, hung up on and yelled at by customer service reps named Trisha and Tiffany, only had 1 mover drop our things at 10pm (my husband and I had to carry in most of it to the garage), and of course had damage to furniture and missing boxes. Needless to say, we submitted a claim shortly after to report the horrible customer service, unethical business practices, and furniture damage...and it's now been 20 days with no response or confirmation they they've even submitted our claim to their insurance provider! I seriously get overwhelmingly angry reading these posts because I too hired Rapid Van Lines which eventually changed to some unknown company transporting my belongings to "Moving Relocation Systems, LLC". My initial estimate was $3056, on the "day of delivery ", they asked I wire the company $4000 more, they had no justification for it but I eventually paid them in full via wire transfer. I was told that when they received the money , I would be given the location where my belongings were being held hostage. 3 months later, I still don't know where they dumped my stuff , they kept over $6000, & are still extorting me for thousands of dollars more. I'm currently working with government agencies to keep an investigation going. I've accepted the fact that I probably won't ever see my personal belongings again, but I owe it to the single parents, the elderly, & others who are more vulnerable than me, to speak up as a consumer & use the resources available to me & make sure this doesn't keep happening. August 2021 update: We are having the worst experience with Rapid Van Lines for our interstate move from Sunnyvale, California to Philadelphia. Our move was scheduled in April 2021, we asked them to deliver it in Philadelphia by June 2021 and there is still no luck of getting our stuff delivered in Philadelphia (its end of August 2021). On top of everything, they never pick up the phone and reply to emails once in 7 days with wage status update. From past two months our shipment has been assigned a route but the truck hasn't come to load it. We did a big mistake of making 2/3 of the payment and trusting them to meet their words. After much thought, I am writing this review for all of you out there to not get caught in this scam. They have really created an unfortunate situation for us spending time in a new city without our important stuff, our kitchen supplies, medical supplies that were in stock, and our precious house hold belongings. We still continue to sleep on floor and going through everyday discomfort due to their poor service. We had to buy so many things twice to keep up with the daily chores. I really wonder about the people who rated them with 3,4, 5 stars. Please don't make the mistake that we did. I have attached the initial contract and one of the email conversations as a proof that dealing with them can be really frustrating. 09/27/2021 update: We received only half of our stuff and apparently we got to know that it was kept in a storage not in a temperature controlled warehouse. Most of the boxes came in damp, opened, and repackaged. These boxes were brand new when the items were packed. Rapid Van Lines didn't deliver our TV, ski, wardrobe, camping tent, snorkelling gears, 2 suitcases of clothes, electronics like go-pro etc, kitchen utensils, a box of books that had our precious academic degrees with my and my husband's name on them. The list is long and the missing stuff is worth $12k. Jim told us to file a claim which wouldn't even justify the loss that we have suffered. Starting with Trish who deliberately lowballed my estimate for my move from W Hollywood to Boston. After a methodical and careful FaceTime through my two bedroom apartment, showing and describing each item (who lists a modular sofa which is 80 cu ft as a chaise lounge 15 cu ft?) to moving day on June 25, 2021, when I was informed after all of my items were loaded that I had 1300 cu ft not 833 cu ft which of course drove up the price accordingly. The reason I went with them was because they have their own fleet of trucks and potentially wouldn't be storing my items. But the exact opposite happened, my stuff was loaded, put into storage in Ontario, CA, then a month later loaded onto an outsourced 18 wheeler and driven cross country and delivered by the 18 wheeler along with three other households. The movers who showed up the day of delivery didn't have any moving equipment, no dollies, etc. They quit after unloading half my items and left --leaving furniture on my front lawn. Two hours later a new crew arrived at least they had dollies. My furniture was heavily damaged, much of my glassware broken. Picture frame glass broken, I'm missing a couple of boxes of assorted items that have never been recovered (according to Jill at Rapid Van Lines). I have SOMEONE ELSE'S dining room solid oak tabletop and a box of someone else's personal portraits, photographs and paintings. (Attached) I'm missing a brand new set of cooking pots, clothing and other items. Jill claims no one reported my items as missing which is bs. They claim no one reported them so they don't have to pay to have them shipped to the rightful owner. I was able to give the sticker color and lot #s for the box of portraits and tabletop so they know damn well who the owners are but told them the same crap that no one reported their missing items. I waited 3 weeks for Jill to arrange FedEx to get the items out of my house--she never arranged it. So you know she told the owners they hadn't recovered their stuff or they would have been raising a stink. This was the worst nightmare of a move I've ever experienced, I only had a two bedroom apartment's worth of furniture etc and I've moved plenty so I know the difference. read more

The headache from trying to fix all of the damage is just not worth it. Now this is the story of how a military move that was supposed to be free, costed us 13000 out of pocket because one company could not keep their promises. First they will entice you with nice words, this Chris Clay guy sure was nice. We were in a bind, we are military and the company assigned was not gonna pick us up on time to be out of our rental, so I was left to look something up on my own. I should've read the reviews, but whatever info this guy sent me was enough. Again, I was in a bind. Was told they'd pack me up and have me out by the day we agreed on. The price was great. That day came and no call, they showed up 2 days after (the day I was supposed to be out of the rental house) then the BIG one came: the price doubled from the estimate. What was I supposed to do? I sucked it up. The packing guys were great, but they left a lot of stuff they claimed would increase my price even more, so I complied (had to sell a lot of necessary stuff) because the bill was already so big, then some odd items were not packed into boxes (I didn't realize they were not labeled either, so when it came time to claim, we'll they weren't even part of the inventory, so I'm screwed), when almost leaving they were not loading my dolly, they had confused it with one of theirs, so I told them and they were like oh yea, well that never made it to my new home -_- With a way bigger bill than expected, on with the move. Now I'll also add that since before I signed a contract, I explained that we needed weight tickets all along the way in order to prove weight and get reimbursed by the military. I was reassured by Clay, multiple times, this would be granted. Long story short, they never did, even though I pushed during every single step of the move. After over 3 months of waiting, they told us they lost all of our stuff. Needless to say we are not very happy with thier service after they lost everything we own. This was after telling us they accidentally sent our stuff to Texas (we live in Denver, Colorado now). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Quoted for $2100 and on day of pick up the price changed to $6200.. they suck you in with a really good "estimate". They picked up our items in California with a normal size moving truck... then on delivery day they show up with a damn 18 wheeler! The move was from California to Pennsylvania and the neighborhood streets are way too small for a 18 wheeler. Then they tell you if the 18 wheeler does not fit on your street it is your responsibility to pay $900 for them to rent a smaller truck! After the drop off we had over $600 in missing and damaged items.. I contacted the company and the response is to file a claim which is a headache.. turns out you are only compensated 60 cents per 1 pound which is absolutely ridiculous!. The entire move was a nightmare! If you want something done right do it yourself... or just hire any other moving company instead! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY** this turned out to be the worst moving company we could have used. They lied at every turn. They showed up 6 hours late to pack. It turned out to be a shit show at the end as they pressured us to sign off on a very hurried load that was shabbily done. The paperwork was written in chicken scratch which gives us little or no recourse for lost and damaged items. They misspoke on logistics and delivery date. When they did deliver, they tried to extort us for an additional $3000. Jim (CS in San Diego) used the "F" word at least 1/2 dozen times when yelling at me on deleivery day. They gave us no notice on delivery day. They pressured us to sign off on a hurried unloading. They used the most inconmpetant day laborers to unload. Many, many items undelivered. Many valuable furniture damaged. They will not take phoones calls now. All 3 contacts for the company will not return my calls. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS MOVING SCAM COMPANY read more

I paid a down payment as required with the understanding that I would get the money back if something unforeseen came up & I could not move. I ended up in ICU at Standford Hospital with an aortic aneurysm & called from my hospital bed that moving was impossible. I requested a reimbursement as stated in the contract. I was told the money would be reimbursed within the week. Two weeks later, I called again & found it very difficult to have anyone answer the phone. I started emailing this company for information on the promised reimbursement which was over 2 grand. Nothing. Then the run around began. When I managed to contact someone at Rapid Van Lines, I was told to file a dispute with the bank I used for payment. Long story short; it took 3 months to get my money back; but only through the dispute I had filed through my bank. Rapid Van Line customer service is atrocious. Stay away from this company! it took over 30 days to get it to my state, then when they get here, they tried to scam me for 900 extra because they said the semi wouldnt fit, and they had to use a shuttle. Which was a lie because there are semis all the time on my street. They put my stuff in storage and broke a lot of stuff. like a 65 inch tv dishes fragile labeled boxes just thrown in. **do not use this company!** they are impossible to get ahold of and when you do get to talk to someone they lie to you about when their driver is going to be there and i paid them $750 up front that they are refusing to return to me because they said i wasn't there on the scheduled pick up date- which was the 16 or 17th of august-- but their driver calls me on the 18th at 10:30 pm saying he'll be at my house on the 19th sometime after 12. by the time i get done with them everyone of their trucks are going to be pulled into every weigh station and inspected - i guarantee that their log books are not current and their drivers haven't had the time off as required by law - they messed with the wrong mom! read more

This is the worst customer service moving company. They only answer you quickly and in a nice manner if you are getting a quote from them. If you have a problem they are super rude and ignore your emails and phone calls. I've been calling and email with their reps for weeks about getting a refund since I canceled my move due to cancer treatment. I called their customer service phone number and had Jim, one of their reps return the call. He told me it was Sunday and he was at home, to send an email to Tiffany, rep in charge of refunds. I tried to explain to him that I tried to do that and got zero results, if I could have her phone number. His answer was I don't have it with me so email her and he hung up on me. My question is why is your phone number listed on the website if you can't handle customer service questions on Sundays since you are home. What kind of customer service does this company have. I've called on different days and got no answer. My moving coordinator Greg doesn't even answer my texts, phone calls or emails. He was only nice when he was trying to convince me to book this company. I work as a manager restaurant and know about having to deal with customer complaints and this is a horrible way of dealing with it. Too bad I had to choose one star in order to leave this review. They are great and get back to you until the day they pick up your items. The day they came, the guy was like there is more furniture here then you said. I asked him to tell me what wasn't on the form, he ignored me and went on a cubic square foot tangent. At the end of the day I was charged $2,700 more than I was quoted. I had to move and they knew that and took advantage! They stopped answering my calls, returning messages/texts and emails. I have been trying to get a hold of them for over a month now, nothing! A box is missing and nobody will get back to me! Unprofessional is what this company is! My BBB complaint was responded to. They stated that I had 33 more pieces of furniture and that is why I was charged extra! Um no! I have the photo of how many pieces and it was a total of 68, not 101 total pieces that they claimed. I was quoted for 61 pieces. So 7 extra pieces (4 of them boxes, the other 3 were the legs they took off of tables) cost me an extra $2,700. I will never do business with this shady company again! And they do work with 3rd parties, they told me they didn't. So some of my furniture is damaged because they move it from truck to truck. read more

The WORST moving company in America. Do NOT and I mean NOT use this "moving" company. They throw all your belongings literally in the back of their truck, damaging everything, from furniture to our tv. We had to throw out the tv and other kitchen items. To use the work SHOCKING is an understatement. Nothing was wrapped properly. I've been trying for over a year to get some kind of compensation for the disastrous move this company did for me. I could go on and on but I will spare you. I've spoken to Jim, Tiffany, Trish, Jillian, Chris, among others who have all lied to me every step of the way. I paid over $7000 for a Full service move, way over the original estimate. The movers showed up 5 hours late. They reeked of marijuana. They had obviously been partying all day instead of doing their job. Once they got to me they dumped everything in the garage, didn't assemble anything, left half of my items in the garage including the refrigerator and abandoned the move without telling me. They were just gone. They said they didn't have a dolly or tools. Really??? Things were missing and broken. The garage was so packed, I couldn't see anything or even move around to get to anything. Since that time I've been given the runaround over and over and over. They finally returned the claim form and offered to pay me a tiny sum. Months have gone by, many attempts at emails, calls, & text messages inquiring about the refund. But still nothing but the runaround & more lies. . One employee who I spoke with on the phone, went on and on for over an hour (no kidding) about how much she hated the company and other people in the company and told me about all the stuff that was going on. Please be aware of how corrupt this company really is. I think the owners name is Garry and I think he lives in Florida but there are many addresses and phone numbers and no one really knows where the heck they are. Just say NO!!!! Get a really reputable company, and do your homework. Oh by the way, I was threatened that if I ever posted anything negative, the owner would never pay me my refund. Even though I do have a contract in writing for such as well as a contract for a full service move which never happened. Shame on these evil people!
