They had a ton of positive reviews. So I called them up, and they agreed to show up the next day before 11. They warned me they were running late (my landlord asked him to pick up something on the way over). They were in and out and fixed what needed to be fixed. They didn't try to argue for additional services I didn't need (rusty brown water, happens when you turn off the water heater, let the facet run for 30minutes). So now R&J Scarpa has a review on Yelp, to go with the positive work they are doing on the other site :)

This company was fantastic back when the owner actually came out to do the work…read more.. I had a new kitchen counter & sink installed, and the contractor said they never install the sink (mine is a regular, simple drop-in) because plumber's prefer to have the room to work. Paul the Plumber sent a young kid out, who announced that they don't install sinks. Well, after calls to their office they agreed to drop in the sink, and charged me MORE than the cost of the $300 sink for less than 1/2 work. I also wasn't expecting them to say that they will only replace all of the piping so they can guarantee it, so the whole bill came to around $1000. Next thing I know, there's water all over the place. So they send the same kid out and it turns out that he didn't cap the drain for the dishwasher (which hadn't been installed yet) so he rigged up something. In the meanwhile, the same kid fixed the hot/cold water valve on my downstairs shower, and somehow ended up breaking the entire shower head off the wall, and cutting a huge hole in the wall. He also snaked the upstairs tub. Guess what? More water under the kitchen sink. So I checked to see if the plumbing license on the website is still valid (which it is), but it certainly isn't for this kid. So I called and told them about the water under the sink & asked for the kid's license #. She said she'd get back to me with the #, but instead sent out another guy who DID have a license. Turns out the unlicensed kid capped the drain incorrectly and he didn't screw down the sink drain correctly either, which is why water was leaking everywhere. And as for the tub? The kid managed to screw that up too so the drain stopper didn't work any more and I had to pay another plumber to fix it. The upshot? This is the place for you if you want some unlicensed, unsupervised kid doing your work.

On my drive…read morehome from work on a Friday night--right before one of the coldest nights we've had in years--I got a call from my wife saying our heat had gone out. I immediately pulled up Google and started calling every company advertising emergency service. After leaving message after message, I finally reached a company that wasn't familiar with my equipment but highly recommended Gary. Feeling pretty discouraged at that point, I called the number--and was relieved to reach an actual person who listened with empathy, gathered the details, and relayed everything to Gary. Despite being at a family game, Gary came out that night, diagnosed the issue, and gave us guidance on how to keep our pipes from freezing overnight. Early the next morning, I received an update that the needed part had been found. Within an hour, a team arrived and repaired the system. Given the forecast--temperatures staying below freezing for the next 10 days, 10-20 inches of snow across the region, and nearly 200 million people under a winter storm warning--there could not have been a worse time to lose heat. Gary and his team had never met us before, yet they treated us like family from the moment we called. It goes without saying that we will be customers for life. Thank you again to Gary and his entire team. They have earned our highest recommendations and saved our house.
