I…read moreknow it'd be harder to find places that offer later massage times to accomodate and I am still looking for a nice, clean massage parlor that I can just drop in to, close by. I pulled up Yelp and saw Thai Spa and decided to give it a try. Pictures looked nice, reviews have said it's clean so I called them up and got myself an appointment that works for me. They did require you to put your credit card down for the reservation in case of a no-show, which is totally fair. When I got there it was very clean and I might have been the last person for the day. The owner who greeted me was extremely kind and sweet. The masseuse was Chinese speaking so the language barrier was a little bit harder, but the overall massage was pretty good. I appreciated how accommodating the owner was which is why I'm giving it five stars. Overall the cleanliness is above average so I would choose this over the Asian foot spas even though it's a little bit pricier.

I decided to make a same-day appointment for a deep tissue massage on a Monday and it was easy to make an appointment online. One thing that I appreciated was that the person at the front desk called me ahead of my appointment and asked what kind of pressure I liked as it was my first time visiting. She said she wanted to ensure that I was matched with a staff member who would best fit my preferences to ensure I had a good experience. I don't think I've had that done before the actual appointment at any other place so that was thoughtful. They even offered to take me in earlier if I was available. Once I walked in, I could tell it would be relaxing as the environment was very quiet and peaceful. As soon as I was out in a room and ready for the massage, the staff made sure I was comfortable and asked if I had any areas I wanted them to focus on, to which I answered my lower back. I liked that they even checked in once they started applying more pressure to make sure it was okay. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience and as someone who sometimes tenses up during massages because it's too much, was able to a actually relax during my appointment and even dosed off a little. Even afterwards, my body feels great and the lower back pain has definitely improved! Overall, I would recommend coming here and would definitely come back to try their other packages.

Since I work out quite a bit, my muscles are often sore, whether it's my legs, IT Band, back, neck or biceps and/or triceps. Even though I could tell so many therapists where I needed massaging, I found the much needed care from Cindy. She is thorough in her approach. My IT band had been the reason for possibly sciatica and other back issues. After a few sessions with Cindy, I see her regularly every two weeks and it's paid off. She spends a good 7-10 minutes (I think?) on my IT band for each leg. She's great about sensing when to put more or less pressure on tight muscles or knots depending on whether I tense up or show reaction.. I've had many sports massages from other hotel and "brand name" businesses in the bay area at half or double the price. Mood Up Wellness is reasonably priced especially for package deals. Cindy truly gives one of the best full body deep tissue massages that I've ever had.

In a private room, the massage is a set routine with no room for personalization. With English at a minimum, there is no way to explain to work on troubled areas. Lighting is very dim and music is soft. In the same room, the facial takes place with the same person, I think. It's difficult to tell with the dim lighting. During the facial one of the products they used was very oily and it got into my eyes. Additionally, the mask product was still stuck to the sides of my face and nose. When I arrived home, I had to get a warm towel to try to extract the oil from my eyes and scrub the mask from my face. Whatever they use, it's tenacious as it took some scrubbing to remove. While the massage is a standard non-personalized routine, I would return for the massage as the prices are attractive. However, I am unable to recommend the facial due to the application and products that are used. With cash, there is a small discount.

There is no better massage therapy establishment in the Bay Area, and I can say because I've tried…read morealmost everything. These ladies do one thing and they do that one thing well - they will heal your muscles and get rid of your pain. They are all very sweet ladies and they may seem brusque to an American cultural lens but think of it this way - this isn't a delicate spa experience; this is far more like going to a no frills Asian bonesetter / muscle doctor they will fix you up and send you on your way. Yes they use massage to do it, but no it is not a frilly, fancy, luxury massage. This is for the people where freedom from the pain is worth the initial work. I have been in pain since age 16 and I am 33 now. I didn't know why I suddenly had limited mobility in my neck, my shoulders, my sides, or even, lately, just bending over. After 10 back to back cross country flights, I ended up so stiff I thought I was gonna age out and just die now. It sounds funny but that's how bad it felt. But something told me to find cupping and I accidentally found this place nearby. They were able to take me the same day. At first, right after the massage, the pain seemed to be much worse. The next day, I felt a wreck. I tried to drink lots of water, and knowing my own condition, just stayed in to rest. The next day however? New mobility. My neck was able to twist further. A chronic pain had eased from a 90% to a 10%. So okay, SOMETHING definitely worked but was it the massage? So I went weekly for 10 to 12 weeks and I can honestly say I now feel better than I did when I was 16. I used to be in martial arts - I can tell my kicks are more stable, my punches pack more power, and my muscles and nervous system are all connecting really well. For those who have done any sports, you know what a big deal this kind of freshness is. So do I recommend this place? 100/5 stars if I could. It's a mom and pop shop type vibe but you're coming for the functionality. Your body will thank you and me honestly. All of the different massage therapists have a different style and you need to kind of treat it like a Pokemon gym and go to different therapists for different things. Every single one has a different focus and often Mia or someone else can tell you what you need. Also, they're almost medical with it. They talk to each other as they massage and show each other points on your body and decide a treatment plan together. They frequently work on things you may not have been complaining about but that resolve an issue somewhere else. They also somehow magically know where you are sore - experience and intuition you simply cannot teach. I got cupping for 10 weeks or so but we all decided that my body is in a better place and can do with just massage for a while. You'd think that the massage would end up tapping out on benefit, but it absolutely doesn't. My body is shedding so much old stress that every time, I notice a new tangible benefit. Worth the cost absolutely and make sure to tip the ladies well! I figure in a $20 tip to my bodywork budget.
