Just went up to Placerville for the second year in a row to get our Christmas tree. This year we wound up at Rapetti's. Man, they have some gorgeous trees! This year max price is $90 & that's for a 10 ft. and over top-of-the-line Noble or Nordmann. The guys that cut & haul the trees are super friendly and efficient (don't forget to tip---after all they're doing the hard work!!). It was crowded this Sat. after Thanksgiving, but in no way unmanagable. Parking was tricky, so plan to walk some. But, that's the point, isn't it? We took our dogs & there were a bunch of other folks who did so as well. Everyone's dogs were well behaved, because they quickly get worn out traipsing up & down the hills (unless they're used to that sort of thing). Luckily, we found our tree just after our biggest dog plopped down & decided SHE was done looking. LOL This farm is just before Hillside Tree Farm (where we got our tree last year & I also reviewed). The people , trees and prices here are equally awesome. Just remember to bring cash or a personal check. OH! If you sign up for their list you get a $5 discount on next year's tree. Works for me... This year we got a 8 ft. Nordmann (looks similar to a silvery Noble Fir), a tree skirt, an ornament & tree care instructionsd for our $70. Not bad at all.... Walmart wants $75+ tax for their Noble's this year.I know I had a LOT more picking mine out at Rapetti's Tree Farm than I would have from a retailer or a tree lot! This year we had warm sunny weather...ahhh, amazing for almost December. I walked around in a T shirt & sweats. Last year we got snow & rain the whole time (same weekend). So definitely check the weather before heading out so you can dress appropriately and have a good time. read more

Drove by, saw doors open and cars parked and beautiful trees growing for to be picked by customers. Me: "oh hi, can I give you my business? Would you like my money in exchange for a tree you are growing? Can I throw all my money at you and purchase something you are wanting to sell?" Rapetti Farms: "oh no, sorry. My family and I scheduled an appointment and drove a couple of hours to visit Rapetti Farms and cut down our tree. We had the best time! We found the most gorgeous 12 year old Silver Tip. We didn't even realize just how stunning it was until we brought it home. We cut down the tree on November 21st and by the first week of January when it was time to clear the Christmas decor, the tree was still thriving, alive and well! I will 100% be back with my family next year. Bonus: the staff was kind and welcoming, the prices are so reasonable and they sell hot cocoa so you can sip as you search for your perfect tree. You get to canvas their farm to find the perfect Christmas tree, enjoy the views, family time coffee and hot coco. The entire family and staff is so welcoming. Christmas Trees from a lovely family. Very nice people. Fair prices and lots of variety. Wander through many acres of many types of trees while young guys follow with saws and small tractors. Pick your tree, they cut it. They haul it to the store where they bag it into a net and get it into your truck. They DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS. (they would have made five starts) We will be back next year. BTW: there are very few tree farms open before Thanksgiving this year (2011). I'm glad we found this daily. read more

Awesome find!! Went X-mas tree hunting the weekend before Thanksgiving to beat the crowds and even though they weren't open for the season yet, they let us choose a tree and gave us great service. We will definitely be back next year. read more

Super disappointed with our experience today. Especially since we were loyal customers for several years. We showed up today and were greeted very rudely with a question on whether or not we had an appointment. When we told the gal no- she rolled her eyes and said, "well, I think I can accommodate you." We were the only people on foot that we could see and it was a rainy Sunday. Clearly, it was not busy. We walked up the hill, found our tree within minutes and made our way down to have it cut. Again, the gal at the front desk started commenting about us not having an appointment. She again made us feel unwelcome and totally put out. My husband is a first responder and I didn't even ask for their discount because I wanted to get out of their fast! We will not be returning. They made our visit quite unpleasant on what was supposed to be a fun filled family day! The only saving grace was Ben who was a "cutter" who witnessed her Grinchy ways and happily offered to cut our tree with no hesitation. read more
