Due to my specific and serious dermatological medical needs, I spent a lot of time researching and looking for the just right dermatologist to assist me in curing a longstanding medical condition, and I was pleased to find that help with Dr. Noor. Unfortunately, my experiences with the doctor's office quickly ruined that love affair and took away all my trust. For the third time in several months, I've needed to see Dr. Noor due to urgent medical issues. However, each time, I was given excuse after excuse and nonstop runarounds as to why he was nowhere to be found, and no one seemed to know when he'd be back. Instead, each time they tried to force me into seeing one of their unqualified nurses, while at the same time trying to convince me to give my credit card details over the phone to someone I didn't know to receive care from someone I didn't want. I made the mistake of seeing one of these untrained "professionals" the first time and quickly learned it was a mistake I would never repeat. Every interaction with their staff since has left me questioning if they are running some sort of three-card monty Ponzi scheme, leveraging Dr. Noor's good name and reputation to lure unsuspecting patients in, only to pawn them off onto random unqualified staff members working in the back. I'm giving Rao 1 star - not because the actual experience was bad. In fact, I hardly remember it because it was 1 year, 7 months, 25 days ago. But yesterday when I checked my mail I got a first and final notice for a balance due. I have no problem paying what I owe. I take issue with never hearing from Rao, no holiday card, no birthday card and more importantly, no bills. Yet 1 year, 7 months, 25 days later I get a final notice with a threat to turn me over to collections. I will say that the person at Rao who works in billing was apologetic and understanding. And I appreciate that. But they need get their 3rd party billing in order. The bill is paid. It's over. But I won't be ever going back to Rao. read more

In addition, his administrative staff is ridiculously incompetent. I went to the office on 57th st for a rash I had on my elbow. The wait was very minimal after I registered (5-10mins). Dr Noor quickly looked at my elbow and knew what to prescribe. He provided me samples which after I used them, my symptoms improved significantly (see before and after). I've only used the samples about 3 or 4 times in the week ans look at those results! I also addressed my acne which he prescribed a gel for. My acne also began to clear up after starting product. I was with him for about 5 minutes. Clearly he knew what he was doing! I loved my experience with Dr. Rao and his team. His front desk staff is courteous, professional, and do a great job with follow up. I consulted with Dr. Rao a few years on a neck scar. He was very meticulous and methodical with the various procedures. We first did steroid creams, injections, and then decided to do a few sessions of laser resurfacing. He was very patient and friendly. I appreciated that he asked about my day and was generally interested in me as a person. His assistants were also very warm. He seemed to be quite busy balancing several practices on the East and West Coasts. Now my scar is barely visible and no one notices it anymore. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Rao and his team for about three years now and I never plan to see another dermatologist again! Prior to becoming Dr. Rao's patient, I had been to a handful of dermatologists in the city and was never very pleased with those experiences; luckily a friend suggested I visit Dr. Rao and his team. Dr. Rao is knowledgeable, compassionate and professional, not to mention a very nice person who genuinely wants to see his patients healthy and happy. I have seen him for several different things (both medical and aesthetic), and each time the results were excellent. Additionally, his team, including his front desk staff and assistants are wonderful. They are attentive and on top of their game. Dr. Rao also just added a full time esthetician who is very skilled; I'd also highly recommend her for facials, microderm, etc. In terms of the wait, I usually only have to wait about ten minutes for my appointment; once in a while I've had to wait up to 30/40 minutes (this is rare). But I'd MUCH rather wait to see a doctor whom I really trust, verus going to a derma who I'm not totally pleased with. read more

I recently moved to NYC and decided to try out this office. I have new insurance and have been having issues with my acne medication getting covered. I have to say... the amount of care that Dr. Rao's office put into getting my medication approved along with keeping me involved every single step of the way was tremendous. I have worked in a pharmacy and personally dealt with calling doctors' offices and insurances for medication approvals and it can be a headache depending on who you are dealing with. I actually visited his office in Somerset NJ NOT the NY location. By far the best experience I've ever had at a Dr.s office. The women at the front desk were both super friendly, I WAS TAKEN INTO THE EXAMINATION ROOM ON TIME, within 3-4 minutes I was seen by 2 residents who were great, within another 2 minutes Dr. Rao came in he was great..... everyone I dealt with there had a smile on their face which made me feel much better. No waiting, no let's make another appointment, no you need to see a specialist.... they took care of business right then and there. Dr. Rao and this facility should teach other medical facilities how to treat patients. They also sent a text message to check in prior to arrival and a link to fill out all your paperwork before you arrive. BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR FOR UNDER EYE FILLER!! Skin care? No Problem. Want Botox? No problem. Want your under eye troughs filled? HUGE PROBLEM. After demonstrating how to treat this area with Restalyn Silk in front of 2 foreign female students, my right eye IMMEDIATELY began to swell & bruise. 3 wks & a round of methylprednisolone later, under my eye is still distorted, swollen & heavy with pressure. On my 1st & last follow-up, Dr. Rao decided to NOW mention that he "doesn't usually do this area" WTF! I've had this procedure done before by another Dr with great results & will be using him to hopefully correct this mess. Their scheduling policy is just plain chutzpah. I got a groupon for laser, for six sessions, and it had a very tight expiration date. Their hours? 8:30 to 4:30 M-F. AKA, they only intend to serve the unemployed. Don't you know? People without jobs are the only ones that need or want to stop shaving/waxing... Furthermore, Groupons can only come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ... and some Wednesdays when the mood strikes them. Tell me that taking into account the expiration date, the hours, and the Tuesday/Thursday policy that this place didn't create their policy for the sole purpose of not having to fulfill the full amount of sessions sold. All that, a coincidence? Me thinks not. Deceptive and weasel-like. Not the kind of people I wanna hang out with. Anywho, given their beautifully contrived scheduling policy, clearly all their appointments are booked up quickly. And then they can't schedule the appointments to reflect the requirements of laser. So that means the few appointments you will be able to squeeze under their draconian rules will not be effective. YAY! Ok let's talk about the actual service. I really did not appreciate that the last time I went, they didn't have goggles for me to wear. They broke, apparently. You provide laser, and even offered a Groupon out to the public for it, and invested in just one pair of flimsy goggles? This place claims to be run by an MD. How do you rationalize swearing to the Hippocratic oath with performing laser on someone not wearing goggles? Also, this is minor, but it matters in Manhattan. Location, location, location. I was having a hard time with adult acne for a while and had been to a few other dermatologists but had a hard time finding a treatment that worked. When I came to Rao Dermatology a few years ago they were able to get me on a regimen that worked really well for my skin. I have been using the same products ever since. I have gone to both Dr. Rao and Dr. Noor. All of the staff is very friendly and always make you feel welcome and comfortable. I never experience a wait time. I have gotten Botox here and a facial. Since I have extremely sensitive skin I thought that the facial would make me break out and leave me with huge red marks (like all my other facials in the past) but I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure who did my facial but I felt like she actually listened to me when I explained the issues that I have with my skin. The Botox has been great.
