The Bargain Store is literally another Poundland in my opinion but if you are looking for cheap…read moreitems then you might want to come here. From DIY tools to stationery to lunchboxes to toilet rolls, these are some of things that are on offer here. So if you don't fancy going shopping at high retailer stores, this shop could be what you are looking for. In these difficult economic times, people will be trying to save as much money as possible and there are plenty of bargains to be snapped up here. The staff are friendly and you can have plenty of banter with them. The customers I saw at The Bargain Store were able to have a conversation with the staff and so was I. You get along with the staff so easily but the most important thing is the fact there are plenty of items here at cheap prices.

I love to shop at discount stores and this one is no let down. They have everything that you would…read moreexpect- They sell toiletries, deodorants, toothpaste, kitchen towel, camping accessories, birthday greeting products, mobile phone accessories, basic electronic equipment, I Phone add ons, dog food, cat food, pet toys, books, CD's, food etc. Pretty much everything you would need if you were stuck on a desert island. I hope they can maintain a decent quality whilst keeping price down to a minimum. I worry ethically about cheap products and the exploitation of Third World labour. I was pleased to find out that a great deal of the products on sale were made in Birmingham. I hope that the people that manufacturer the products on sale here give their employees a fair wage. If they do I will be more than happy to keep buying these products.

Cut Price Discount Stores is an unpresuming Aladdin's Cave of bargains! This independently run…read morestore is situated directly opposite Aldi Supermarket on Bristol Road, Northfield Town Centre. The inside of the shop is nothing fancy time looks as though it has stood still here for a long time. However, the shop is packed with nearly every conceivable household item you could imagine (excluding furniture and appliances). If you are familiar with Latif and Sons in Birmingham City Centre, think of this shop of a condensed version of the same type of store. Another way of describing it is as 'Northfield's General Store' - everything from kitchenware, cleaning products, garden, diy, computer and automotive accessories are in stock at very reasonable prices. I managed to buy a bunch of last minute Christmas presents here this last year and I had never thought a shop on Northfield could offer such choice, quality and value. The couple who run the shop are lovely too; very friendly. Also, If there is something you are after and they don't stock it, they are happy to source it for you. Often I have bought items from larger stores and supermarkets only to find the same products sold here at a cheaper price. I now usually pop in and check here first if I am after something in particular before shopping around It saves the disappointment! Definitely recommended, especially if you are setting up home and need a local, independent shop to buy the basics!

The Candy Store is one of Birmingham's best kept secrets…read more This shop wont fail to surprise you, and has some great quirky t-shirts. The decor is tasteful and the shop is fitted out well. You can find several trendy pieces in here which is great for an independent outlet with a mixed price range. Friends or relatives can lounge in the large comfy sofa's whilst they wait., or just admire the store & furniture. I'd recommend The Candy Store to anyone visiting Birmingham. Spend some time in here and you will find something that catches your eye. The staff are very helpful, and also told me about the tailoring on some of the t-shirts I was admiring. Worth a visit!!

I…read morethink The Candy Store is more than goodness, I believe it's one of Birmingham's best stores and something to be proud of. Established in 2007 The Candy Store has been a beacon in independent street brands, stocking items that might not appear on any other high street rail. Stocking some of the best street brands in the world such as: 10 Deep The Hundreds Jilted royalty (owners brand) Crooks & Castles Diamond supply Fame Benny Gold The shop itself is slick and tidy; each brand has its own section/rails with select items laid on shelves to catch attention. There are some cool bikes and a great sound system in there always playing interesting and fresh urban music. Though it can sometimes be hard to tell the staff apart from the people hanging in the store, everyone has been friendly and happy to help whenever I have been in. An independent urban clothing store could be quite intimidating for a mom to pop into to buy her kid something, I've seen It happen, but the staff here have all the time in the world for anyone who might not have the insider knowledge on what's cool and what's not. The prices range from £15 for a tshirt upto £85 for a shirt it all depends on the brand/season of the item that you have selected. They take card and have an online store too. The sales are known to be really good so keep checking back at their website and inshore. http://www.thecandystoreclothing.com/

This store is pretty big with a huge range of women's fashion, from casual, formal work attire to glam evening-wear. They have a wide selection of the "SP" range too, which stands for Special Purchase. This is only available in Outlet stores. The range here has been much more impressive than any other Next outlet I've been to. They have great bargains on children's clothing, which are usually very pricey. And even the men's shirts start from under a tenner. Towards the back of the store they have a "Home" section, which is usually very cluttered and messy. Even if there is something worth browsing, you're put off by the mess. But if you love quality and bargains in clothing - this is the place to shop!

The discounts are deep and the stock is abundant. This being Next, you won't exactly find anything high fashion or edgy. But you will find plenty of reliable work clothes and the odd nice frock. The majority of floor space is given over to women's clothes, with small areas for kids and menswear. They also stock homewares and furniture. You can snap up a bargain sofa if you aren't picky and are in a position to take items away on the day. This is no frills shopping.
