The best customer service! I brought my car in to repair a tear in the leather of my driver's side seat(VW Jetta 2015). Each time I contacted them they were always professional. The process started with me emailing them a picture. I received a quick call back with a fair estimate and we scheduled a day for me to drop my car off. I dropped my car off before they opened. When I called to check on their progress they let me know there was a problem. That's when their customer service shined for me. They let me know they didn't have the correct leather in stock to match my car seat and would need a few days to order it. They said that special delivered upholstery repair usually costs more plus on closer inspection the job is a little more work and would normally cost $350. I just made a "EEeee" sound over the phone since they originally estimated my repair at $250. They told me that due the inconvenience, they'll honor their original offer of $250 :) I thought that was really great. On top of their great customer service, they do amazing work! This place is awesome! I needed the headliner in my Land Rover to be reupholstered and wanted to do it on the budget, so I decided to do removal and reinstallation myself. Daniel gave me a great quote on reupholstery job that was 40% cheaper then the quote I got from a different upholstery place in Rockville. My headliner required a special order extra-wide fabric, and had two sunroofs and many screw holes for visors, map pockets etc. that had to be carefully cut out. When I got the headliner back, it looked like new, perfectly straight and smooth, and each screw hole was perfectly punched. Very professionally done! It made the reinstallation a breeze. The turnaround time was super-fast, too. It took only two business days including the time waiting for the fabric order to arrive. One day faster than promised. I was referred to Rankin Auto Upholstery by the service dept of a Chrysler dealership in Lanham, MD. I was in need of a shop that could install a new convertible top AND hydraulics that I ordered and delivered to them. The top needed to be installed on a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron. The car had sat for more than 15 years and the convertible top was in ruins. Rankin did such an amazingly awesome job installing the top. I couldn't be happier! I'm a first time customer that couldn't be happier with the service that Rankin provided. I had the convertible top replaced for my 2009 Mazda Miata. The folks at Rankin were able to get the top ordered and installed quickly. They kept me up to speed throughout the process and had it installed on time as promised. The new fabric top not only looks great but the cabin is completely sealed and I'm getting zero interior condensation even after hard rains/high humidity. I had nothing but problems with my previous vinyl tops and they leaked consistently. All of the folks I spoke to at Rankin really seem to take pride in their work and do their best to keep their customers happy. They informed me if I had any problems at all to bring the car back and they would take another look/fix the issue at no charge. We purchased a new Acura based on the custom seat cushion that was designed and fabricated by Rankin (wife is only 4'10" and needed a special lift). It turned out so well that we contracted with them to make a custom cover for the rear seat for our large dog, and also to modify the head rests on the front seats so that they were much more comfortable. Bottom line, everything turned out perfectly. They listened to our needs, understood what we wanted, and created products that were excellent in all regards. Not only that, their price was very, very reasonable. Just as an example, the rear seat cover was 2/3 the price of a comparable seat cover from Acura and, to our way of thinking, a great improvement in material and fit. The people who work at Rankin really know their business and are a pleasure to work work. I entrusted by 22-year old Miata to them to replace the convertible top which had never been replaced before. I wanted a factory correct top so that the Miata continued to look original. I am more than delighted with the work they did. This repair shop is truly amazing and customer service is what all businesses should model after. The sunroof of my SUV had a reoccurring leak, which local shop could not repair. Rankin recommended I drop by the shop. I dropped by without an appointment, mechanic knew how to resolve the problem immediatel. He hotbuis tools out and fixed the problem on the spot and did not charge me!! I'm sure if I had gone to the dealership, they would have charged me a couple hundred dollars. I had a rip on the passenger side door along the window. My autobody shop said they couldn't do it and very likely I'd have to get the whole door panel replaced. They recommended Rankin and I went out there and they were extremely helpful . They were able just to replace the top piece and not the whole door panel, their price was reasonable. I got the car back within 48 hours and the work is impeccable. Highly recommend them. I will certainly use them again if I need auto upholstery work in the future (while I hope not my car is 10 years old so I think it's inevitable). read more

The guys are great. Six years ago Rankin replaced my the top on my Mustang. I use my top more than most and it has started to leak. I spoke with Daniel and he had me bring my car in to check the top to see if it was repairable or needed replaced. They sealed around the window to see if that would help and didn't charge me for the time hoping it would fix the problem. Sadly, it did not and I will need a new top, but I will take my car back to Rankin. They were friendly, honest and did everything in their power to save me the expense of a new top. read more

Excellent work and great customer service. I got myself in a bind doing some home upholstering. We called Rankin because they are nearby asking for advice and/or assistance. I had pillars and headliner corrected on an 02 BMW 325i. There was a key drop and Mr. Rankin coordinated with me to ensure an easy transaction. While the owner seemed genuinely committed to providing excellent service, the final results were disappointing-- the work was rough, and there were multiple damages outside of the repair areas. This business is run professionally from the moment you call to inquire about the service to the endpoint when you pick up your finished product. I went to Rankin Upholstery to have my roof liner replaced, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The workmanship was poor, and shockingly, the staff caused unthinkable damage to my vehicle in the process. I really don't understand how this place has a 4.8-star rating. I have been to Rankin twice in the last two years to replace a saggy headliner and to repair a scratched leather seat. Both times, they have done very good work at good prices, and provided good customer service. I would go back.
