This is our 3rd time here and I am addicted! Their garlic naan is outstanding. We would recommend the shrimp appetizer and their lamb meatball curry is truly delicious! Did not disappoint! Lured in by the beautiful food photography on the Rangeen website, we were surprised to see a little strip mall space. The food deserves a swanky restaurant. We ordered the Gobhi Manchurian, Lamb Meatballs, Mixed Vegetables, Pineapple Tawa Rice, and Garlic Naan. There was also the Benarsi Tomato Naan Crostini, a naan with goat cheese, herbs, spices, and tomatoes that was just delightful, probably one of the best orders of the night. For dessert, we tried the Gulab Jamuns, Chocolate Puffs with Mango Pudding, and my favorite, the Saffron & Rose Panna Cotta. All of it was so delicious, nicely spiced (and spicy!), and the food came out *fast*. One of the owners took our order. Delicious new Indian kitchen here in town. We'd heard good things and wanted to give it a try. Highly recommend it. We had a crispy green Chaat salad where the chef substitutes spinach in for the traditional onion, and the carrot salad with Fish Tikka which was perfectly cooked. The owner, Sikha, stopped by our table to say hi and answered all our questions about the menu and her background. Good beer and wine choices, too. We shared a saffron & rose Panna Cotta dessert. We had a party of 6 for dinner last Saturday and it was an amazing dinner. The presentation was so artistic and easy to share. The fish and chicken were so very tender and flavorful with sauces out of this world! The garlic naan was the best. My favorite was the Gobhi Manchurian & Fish Tikka. It is definitely a casual place. It was a lot smaller than I expected inside the restaurant. The food was good, but their Pav bhaji was a very tomato salsa looking. It did not look like pav bhaji. The menu is not a full menu like most Indian restaurants, so definitely check out the menu before you go. Overall, food is good but I wouldn't drive that far to eat inside a small place. Having lived up in Los Angeles for many years, we had grown quite accustomed to having a plethora of exceptional Indian food within walking distance. For the past decade, we feel like we have struggled to find anything comparable in South Orange county, particularly close by us in Laguna Niguel. Finally tried this new restaurant in my neighborhood. Was fantastic all the way around. Love the unique twists on familiar favorites! The owner brought us samples of the sauces so we could decide if spicy enough. We gave the thumbs up for more spice! I tried their lunch special yesterday, and I liked it--I'd give 4-stars for that. Wife loves Indian food, and I wanted to introduce her to Rangeen Kitchen, which I just discovered. It looks like a locally owned and family-run place, which is great. I want to support local and family-run businesses. The person who I think is the owner seems very nice and sincere, which I appreciate. I ordered online tonight, and came 10 minutes after the recommended pickup time. Food still wasn't ready, and I got the feeling that the staff is still learning to balance themselves. When the food finally came out, the order was wrong and incomplete. I asked for them to fix it, which they graciously did, but it took another 20 minutes. The owner/manager came out with my food, double checked that it was all correct this time, and it was. Just very nice people, and a very honest local business. The food itself that we got for dinner wasn't great, to be honest. We got the paneer tikka sandwich which was VERY dry and VERY salty (+ it costs $15), and Chicken saag which was OK but the chicken pieces were big. The whole wheat roti was OK but overpriced. Sorry guys, it looks like many people love you, and I wish you the best of luck. EDIT: I've read a few of the other negative reviews, and I have to agree with them. Like others have said, there are other Indian restaurants nearby, that are both more reasonable AND with better food. EDIT 2: I actually have felt uneasy after eating the food from Rangeen. It didn't make me sick (not food poisoning) but something about the paneer tikka wrap made me queasy. I can forgive disorganized service (we're all human, they are nice and sincere), and mistakes happen to all of us. But I can't forgive bad food. There's no way I can ever come back, I'm sorry. FINAL EDIT: I just saw the response from the manager to my review. The manager will need to know that I did use the Rangeen website directly to order food. Before you try and blame me for using an app to order food, please do not use the app exclusively on your website, especially when you seem to be aware that you're charging more for orders placed online than your in-person menu. read more

The Good: The owners were pretty nice and onsite (working in the kitchen), the place looked clean, smelled great, and the food and water had interesting presentation. The beer and wine tasted good. The Not-So-Good: Service was lacking and kind of slow. (We were only one of two small tables there.) Our server could not answer a single question about the menu. Very nervous. He didn't know what "Cabernet" was when I ordered it. The food runner didn't know what the dishes were when delivered. A few minutes after we started eating, we were asked if we wanted dessert. I know staff is hard to come by right now, but a word of advice: If you can't find someone with experience, at least make sure they are properly trained. Maybe hire a manager who also serves tables? When you eat there, you get table service, but have to walk up to the register to pay. I tip well for good service, but kind of awkward to input the tip right there in front of your server who is doing the check-out. The food portions were tiny and needed either more flavor or salt. Curries were kind of watery. The restaurant was too hot to sit in, so we sat outside, which was difficult because of the small tables made out of bars that things could fall through. We may try it again, and if things improve, I'll change the review. I really want to like this place because it's close and we like Indian food. Good luck! read more
