Took a gun class and then unloaded 100 rounds here yesterday. The class was informative enough where my fiance and I felt comfortable going on the range and trying out a few guns. They have a vast selection of handguns to try and will be back so we can try out some different models before we make our purchase and go for our ccw. It is a nice, new building. I've been here twice now. Most of the staff are friendly. However, it gets expensive really quick. $3 for cardboard, $5 for a waiver, etc. The $5 waiver is an excellent way to add-on a few bucks for some extra profit. There is no reason to charge $5 for us to sign a waiver. We are doing you a favor by signing the waiver and agreeing not to sue you. Now you take advantage of that and charge us money? Silly. The lanes are ok. No coat hangers, no tables or shelves and really no place to move around. everything has to go on the floor, but they ask you not to put anything on the floor due to lead poisoning. So, essentially, don't bring anything inside the range. Maybe they should provide lockers or coat racks of some sort for people to put their belongings. If you can't put it on the floor, and there are no tables or shelves, where are you gonna put it? If you have two people in a lane, forget it. The range itself is nice and clean. The electric target system is nice, but no way to measure distance. They also move quite fast and are very capable of ripping your target off which then makes you go buy a new one wasting the one you just put out as it is on the range floor. The first time I went, the range guard was great. Watched for crazy people, rule breaking, etc. Generally, he let us do as we pleased while maintaining safe environment. He even chatted about guns in an impartial manner. The second time, quite literally, every magazine my wife and I shot, the guard came over to correct, advise, or inform me of something. First it was how I hung the target, next was all about lead poisoning, then no bursts of more than 2 (I never shoot faster than 1 per second), don't leave the lane, don't shoot for the head, etc. Other guests were equally as annoyed as he was nearly running between lanes to give advice or guidance. Your job is safety, not training. I don't mind being overly cautious with safety, but when you are tapping everyone's shoulder constantly, it is no longer a good experience. I'm undecided if I'll go back. It is the closest range to me, but I'm not sure I love going there. I will say that gun and ammo prices are very competitive and even cheaper than other places. Other than that, there's no GOOD reason to go here over another range other than it is a shiny new building. read more

This is a very clean, professional, and well run range. The staff are very friendly and helpful to both new and experienced shooters alike. I also appreciate that there is always at least one range safety officer on duty to monitor the guests. Any yahoos will be asked to stop their questionable behavior or asked to leave. Nice selection of firearms to rent. I don't know of any charge for the cardboard hangers that previous reviews spoke of. If that was once a policy, it is no longer. You pay a once a year fee if $3 and then your range fee. Get a monthly pass. For roughly $30 a month you can shoot as much as you like and try the rental guns for no charge. read more

The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and top notch for shooters of all skill levels.

I was so happy to find a shooting range close to me, that also allowed all bi metal ammo to be shot there. At least thats what their web site advertised. I went there with a friend to fire off our AKs using Tul ammo, which is steel jacket ammo, and not even 1 mag deep, we were kicked out for using the wrong ammo. After being disrespected by management, we were only refunded $32 out of our $52 that we spent there. I looked up on their web site and brought up the page where it stated that they do allow all ammo to be fired there, but was still put down by employees who worked there. As you can expect I will never go there again, and I recommend no one to go there as well. Apparently they don't know their own rules, nor their ammo. read more

3.5 Stars. The store is nice and has a massive selection of handguns including all of the popular carry and full-size 9mm, .40, and .45. They have a varied selection of rifles of everything from lever-action 30-30s to .308 Battle rifles to AKs and ARs This is a good spot to fondle some firearms and see what you like and don't like. I didn't see much in the way of bolt-action rifles so you will want to look elsewhere for those. Prices are at the very top end, second only to maybe Gander Mountain. You will save a LOT of money purchasing online and their $50 transfer fee makes this a no go for receiving. Customer service was mixed, some of the employees are friendly while others seem annoyed and disinterested. Ammo and accessory prices are about average for a retail store. Common bulk ammo in 9mm is about Walmart prices from what I saw: about $11 for 50 rounds of Federal brass. Ammo prices for less popular rounds such as .357 Magnum and rifle rounds were high. You'll want to purchase those online. The range itself is nice as other have stated and has acoustic treatment which helps dampen sound a bit. More pleasant to shoot at versus an old concrete range such as Sherwins in Eastlake or Atwells in Painesville. There is very little room to set your firearms and ammo inside your lane and it feels cramped. Make no mistake, this range is expensive to shoot at regularly if you do not buy the annual pass. The basic pass at $35 a month is actually a good price considering how nice the range is, if you shoot 2 or more times per month it's a good value. Charging $3 for a piece of cardboard to attach your target too is beyond absurd - who the hell does that? My biggest problem with Point Blank, aside from the high prices, was the overbearing Range Officer. I'm an avid shooter and observe all safety rules at all times so I was left alone but you constantly feel like someone if watching over your shoulder. It's great to have a Range Officer to correct mistakes and educate novice shooters but as someone experienced it just felt a little too much. Overall a nice place for occasional shooters by the hour or regular (2-3+ times a month) shooters with the yearly pass. The prices are high on just about everything, but has a huge selection to check out how something feels to you. I likely won't be buying anything from Point Blank but probably WILL get the basic yearly pass eventually once I start reloading. read more

I wrote this once previously but some how it seems to have disappeared. I am an experienced shooter. I've been going to indoor and outdoor ranges for over 30 years. I am pretty forgiving about some things but safety isn't one of them. I don't go to Sherwin for that reason and I will not be going back to Point Blank ever again. I was there sometime back to run some rounds through a new gun. I had been looking forward to actually renting a couple of the guns they have there but that's another topic. I came in on a Sunday afternoon. There were some cars out front but the front counter had two guys watching a video, another individual was standing there and I got in line behind him. I had my gun bag with me and I must have stood there a good ten minutes. The guy behind the counter (I didn't get his name) ignored me like it was his job. The person in front of me had already been waited on, but the counter person didn't even acknowledge me standing there. So what happens next is this younger man comes out of the range area with a rifle. He flags everyone, somebody else had shown up and waiting in line behind me right before this happened. If you're not familiar with the term "flag". It means he swept the end of the barrel of that gun over all of us. I immediately corrected him, and not in a kind way. The unsafe person looked at me and shrugged, he actually just shrugged like "No big deal". The unsafe shooter walked up to the counter to rent a different weapon returning the one he flagged us with. The guy behind the counter immediately waited on him and actually gave him another weapon to take back in the range. The counter person told the unsafe shooter to keep the barrel straight up when he went back inside the range. By this time it's been 10-15 minutes in line waiting to even be acknowledged. Finally another employee came over and waited on me. By this time I'd been there maybe 20-25 minutes. She then proceeds to tell me that they probably can't get me in due to closing soon. I then stated to her that I was so happy to have been able to stand there so long being ignored in their unsafe environment. She asked if I wished to see a manager, I said no but then sought one out. The manager I spoke with was a marine vet. Very nice, very professional. I explained what happened told him I wasn't coming back to this range again. He offered me an hour of free range time so I said OK. He apologized profusely and I left. Well, I didn't use the range time. Free range time in an unsafe environment doesn't appeal to me. I won't set foot in the place. As far as I am concerned the counter person should have confiscated that gun from the unsafe shooter and escorted him out of the range. I know ranges like this attract the new and uninitiated, but you'd think that management would recognize this and try to keep the place a bit safer. As I stated, I've been around a number of ranges. I am former law enforcement and a vet. This is not my first rodeo. I'll stick to Atwell's when I need an indoor range. Even Stonewall with the huge number of folks they run through there are more on top of their shooters than this place. I won't be going back to Point Blank. read more

Just returned from Point Blank in Mentor. I must say my experience was less than spectacular. Let me start by saying that I have been shooting in the Cleveland area for well over 20 years. Point Blank is the worst range I have shot at in this area ever - point blank! The place is clean and well organized but that is where it all stops. The pricing is the biggest scam ever. $5 for a liability waiver "card" is insane. Why do I need to pay you to protect your from liability. Also, I had to pay $1.00 for a cardboard backer about the size and area of a hanger. This was almost useless as I shoot 9 inch circles targets which are impossible to affix without tape - which I finally found. Then the kicker is that I put 1 hole in the lower part of the cardboard (which is the upper part of my target) and was told I just bought the backer. Huh? Everyplace, and I mean everyplace, I have ever shot had free cardboard backers laying around. The showroom merchandise pricing is almost criminal. I get you have to pay a slight premium at the range, but get real. There is a Gander Mountain about less than 1/4 mile up the road. I bout some 9mm at GM (which you know is already high) and the same ammo was $4 per box more. Do they not know GM is up the street. I also spot checked a few firearms. As in the words of Mr. Wonderful on Shark Tank - " I forbid you to buy a firearm from Point Blank". You would easily pay full MSRP if not better at the range. Again, Gander Mountain up the street is cheaper so you know that is saying alot. Others have talked about the lanes and lack of space and room for items. A second lower shelf would help. The target carrier moves so fast that it almost hits you in the face when you retrieve it so you have to get your timing just right. Overall, just not a great experience. read more

Ive been here a few times the prices have changed every single time ive been here with no explanation as to why Ive had the same gun with one target and 2 people and have had bad experiences the past two times. The "range officers" today were seriously a bunch of intitled self obsessed people who got pissed off at my girlfriend and I because her rental gun kept jamming because they didn't clean it; they acted as if thier gun breaking on hs was a nuisance to them and would take forever to come check it then bitch about it and act unprofessional. If you like helpful staff go somewhere else I personally will not go back I will go to a different place from now on. Stay away from this place unless you like being treated like shit. One of the counter people got pissed at me on a different day as well because I wouldn't buy a gun from them then called me a waste of time. Go to Atwells or Sherwin aviod at all costs! read more

Went there for the first time on Veteran's Day, where they had free range time for Vet's. Thanks for that! Nice, new place with a very friendly staff. We had a great time and will go back soon! They just opened several months ago, and are highly recommended. I am not a big gun nut, so not sure how their prices compare to others, but they had a huge selection of guns and accessories. read more

Have a hard time understanding the bad reviews. This place and the staff has been nothing but helpful and respectful every time I have been there. I was so pleased with the service that I became an All Access member. I have rented guns, shot my own guns, used my own ammo, shot their ammo, looked at purchasing guns and even had a transfer done there - all without hassle. Does it get busy at times? Yes, but what else do you expect from a quality facility at 1pm on a Saturday? I shoot here twice a week and will continue to do so, thank you guys! read more

I visited this range with my family (who are members; I live out of state), and we had a great visit. It's a really nice shop, with what looked like a great selection, but my experience was with the range. The staff were very friendly and professional, the range itself was super clean, well lit, well supervised, and there was a really fun selection of targets. We went early and rented several lanes (there are a bunch of us) and were able to use a good mix of our own guns and rented ones. I see that some others had concerns about the size of the lane, but none of us are small and we were comfortable - it's not like you would both be shooting at the same time in the same lane. I had a great time, and if I lived locally, I'd join this range in a heartbeat. read more

Store is new with in a year of opening. Have only shot here once and found it quite pricey. Yes it's new and clean but some of the charges just seem unnecessary.and membership prices well that's way out there,but the store part is well stocked and some of there prices are within what others sell them for so all in all I like the retail part. I did purchase a firearm here and got a great price on it plus there really wasn't a pay off date as long as I put money down which was very helpful. Some of the staff needs work but there are a few there that are very helpful. Well go back and buy supplies but to pricey to shoot here... read more
