I would not recommend this business to anyone. Having them put in an HVAC system replacing an old…read moreair conditioning system and choosing them was the biggest mistake. Last year, when I paid the initial installation fee of $15,000, the contractor had to come out to my home approximately seven times before the new Lennox system finally began functioning properly. There were problems with the air handler, the thermostat and the brand new Lennox condenser outside needed the fan replaced after three weeks of the install. The owner lacked flexibility and showed absolutely no willingness to cooperate regarding any issues that arose following the installation. She displayed a complete lack of respect and maintained a consistently rude attitude throughout every conversation we had with her. The customer service is absolutely terrible. Not only were they completely unhelpful and unsympathetic, but despite the fact that the installation work was completed just a few months ago, I was told that they could not dispatch a technician during a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 32°C (90°F).

When I tried to go in the settings it required a passcode. Crystal Air was the company that installed the system so I reached out to see if there is a master code the system starts with in order to set the schedule. Instead of letting me know the typical master codes to test they sent TWO people out to input the original code the system came with. I received a charge of $330. This was a feature I could have lived without. I just wanted to see if they had a code I could put in so I could put the schedule in myself. When I called to ask about the bill, the woman at the front desk told me the owner would give me a call (never heard from him). I'm beyond frustrated being stuck with a bill like this. I figured since they installed the system they would know the original code and be able to help without sending two people and charge a bunch.

The work was great, but shortly after I noticed that my roof was leaking into my attic. After calling the company that replaced our entire roof one month before Jim came to do the cap, they showed me pictures that there was holes in my brand new shingles all around the chimney, clearly from scaffolding. Jim told me initially before doing the work, he told me that they would put up scaffolding for safety, but neglected to tell me there would be screw holes in my brand new roof. I had to call 4 times, got attitude from the woman who answers the phone, then finally got a 3 short, poorly sentenced email from Jim trying to claim that they only use ladders and the holes were not from him. It cost me $400 to replace the shingles and fix the leak he caused. He clearly did not care at all.

Rostrom quoted $18k for new unit. I called a second company. he took off the shroud and said immediately - "there is your issue" someone crimped the gass line and it had a hole in it. the gas was not low - there was NO gas. He repaired the valve - filled with gas - back to normal. It took two calls to Rostrom management for them to return my call - their response - anyone could have done it. They were the only one to call back the next week and follow up to check and see if I had any questions or concerns and to see how everything went during the Quote call. They are a locally owned small business which I was specifically looking for to do the work. Eric, the owner came to provide the quote and was so personable and down to earth. I have an older gas boiler as well and while all of the other companies tried to upsell me on a new all in one unit he did not say anything about the boiler which, still works fine and I gave had no issues with. He spent time explaining the work involved to replace my unit and providing me the options and details of what he would be pricing out. Their price was inline with other quotes and they use multiple brands instead of just one. Whereas other places were quoting me on a lower BTU unit, which was the basic model, he quoted me based on a higher BTU unit and higher end unit which I appreciated. The one thing I especially appreciated was they were not trying to upsell anything. They don't operate that way because they are homeowners as much as business owners and understand people are not interested in the upsell and just want to get an honest price for the work needed. This means a lot because the whole experience was very relaxed and stress free. I actually had them also do a tune up of my boiler at the same time and they said everything was working fine given it's age it was working great so that was great to know and the fact that they are not pushing anything or playing salesman meant a lot. They sent me the proposal with all of the costs broken out and I could accept and sign up through the quote which was easy. Lexi handles all of the administrative end and and does all the follow up is amazing. She explains everything in detail and answers any questions and follow right up. They actually had a cancellation and called to say they could come then which I did. Eric and a helper showed up in the morning and were all finished up and out by noon. My install had some additional labor as the gas line had to be dismantled to get the old unit out and new one in so I thought this was pretty quick. They did an amazing job, were so respectful of my home and cleaned up better than they found it. He also showed everything they did and explained the settings and how to adjust everything as well. Was an amazing experience from start to finish and I now have an amazing company to handle my plumbing needs which is what I was looking for as well. They do anytime of plumbing and heating work as well as bathroom renovations as well. If you are looking for a great local small business for plumbing and heating and one that is not going to try and sell you anything, they are the ones to use. I could not be happier.
