I'd give 10 stars if Yelp let me. Great dentist. Professional staff. I would recommend you call Dr. Castle if you need a dentist.

I've been coming here for about a year and a half now, and I've been in for everything from a routine cleaning to a deep cleaning to crowns (two at once, natch) and every experience was overwhelmingly positive. The work they do is high quality and everyone from Dr. Douglas to Heidi the hygienist to Calley the office manager has an amazing bedside (or deskside) manner. Everyone who works here is caring and compassionate; if I ever have a complication after a procedure they are quick to get me in for an emergency appointment. They've even called me to check in after a procedure as they know that I've had complications related to dental work in the past and they wanted to know how I was doing and how things were healing. I will never be one of those folks who looks forward to their dental cleanings, but I no longer dread my appointments either. (That's probably the highest praise I can give to a dentist.) I so appreciate everyone at this clinic and am so glad that my dental health is in their capable and gentle hands.

Bonnie, who is retiring at the end of the year, has been so precise in cleaning my teeth. She is so detail oriented that I always got the best cleaning possible. Knowing Moj's management skills, I am sure whoever comes to replace her will be just as good as the other oral hygienists and will be trained appropriately. When I have needed treatment beyond basic cleaning, they've always explained the options to me, let me know what would be covered by insurance and what wouldn't. Additionally, they've let me know when I can anticipate a current condition training it is some thing more difficult, and that has allowed me to plan both financially and in terms of overall care. Moreover, she has always taken the approach of doing the least that is necessary.

The dentist that repaired it (along with another consulting dentist) was appalled that it hadn't been crowned for protection. To add insult to injury, Dr Rostamian insisted the tooth had a crown on it. Dr. Rostamian is not shy about suggesting expensive restorative services but on one crown replacement didn't find the need to offer me my old gold crown. Also, this practice failed to suggest protecting my four front teeth (behind veneers) with a night guard as the dentin is now exposed. I wonder what else is in store for me after years of neglect.

I am an OHP (CareOregon) dental patient and goodness gracious it has been an absolute nightmare…read morefinding quality dental work/dentists that take OHP at all or can even get you in for an appointment in a timely manner at all. After having a terrible experience with another dentist in Portland I searched for months for a new dentist until I got to the point of experiencing a fall that resulted in a couple of broken teeth and desperately needed to get in somewhere. This dentist office doesn't pop up right away in the search options for OHP accepting dentists but after some referrals to really scarrrrry looking establishments I dug a little bit deeper and I am SO glad I did!!! Not only did Southwest Hills get me in the very next week! But they were so easy to communicate with via email and text because my mouth was in pain so speaking on the phone wasn't very fun at that moment. The 2 receptionists I dealt with were extremely friendly and efficient, and their intake paperwork is very simple and fully able to be done online before your appointment. Upon getting to the location some people in the comments here seem to be judgmental about the building alone, which is already rude in my opinion, but it's located in what you could say is akin to an older small business building how a lot of doctor's offices were in the 90's. It's older "looking" but very well unkept on the inside and actually pretty charming, very clean and cutesy retro. Staff again was very friendly upon my arrival at the appointment and I did not have to wait long to be called back. The hygienist who took care of me was absolutely lovely and was so fun to talk with we really got to chatting and it calmed my nerves so much! She also had a really cool handheld camera-like device to do the X-rays which made it extremely quick and painless with none of that running out of the room between every click business. She was so gentle in her exam and very educational on what I should and could be doing for my teeth! Next was the dentist himself Christopher Hill. What an absolute gem. I told him some of my bad experiences from other dentists and the judgements I have faced being on OHP and he sincerely apologized that I had to go through that and told me he does not care at all what insurance I have, that he's just happy to have me in his chair taking care of my teeth. So kind. He also gives very good discounts on things like crowns to his OHP patients which is a huge blessing. He conducted his exam which was also very gentle and painless, even giving me a screening for oral cancer which I have never had a dentist do which I thought was pretty neat, and came up with a great game plan for getting my teeth all fixed up! Within a month I have 2 returning appointments already booked and was offered anxiety medication when I expressed some fears I have. Overall absolute 10/10 experience here and I can't wait to come back for the rest of my appointments and get my teeth back to beautiful again, and if you are hesitant about dentists or have OHP this is the place for you! I was not paid or persuaded in any way to leave this review and honestly I've never left an online review of any service like this before, but I thought it was important for anyone struggling like I was to see this and get the help they need. Thank you Southwest Hills! -Kelsey Fierro

I saw Dr. Beadnell 7 years ago. The experience I had with her has detoured me from seeing another…read moredentist up until now. I came to find out that she did not use the recommended safe practices while removing my mercury fillings. She had a big bright beautiful smile and great reviews, and was close to my home. Unfortunately she was not as bright and smiling when I first met with her but I figured "hey maybe she's just having a hard day." After she filled my teeth in with the material she convinced me to go with, my bite could no longer close, the filling was too high and needed to be filed down. I had to go to her a couple more times for her to reluctantly take a look and address, but she still never fixed/filed the filling down to appropriate length for me to bite down. In a visit with her she took a rubber mallet like tool and hammered down on to another tool she had inside my mouth pressing down on a tooth, this forced my entire head to jerk back. I asked her why she did that, she didn't even respond. I felt like I was in a twilight zone, almost like she was in a trance or possibly going through personal issues and just oddly not very responsive overall. Very soon that day my gums developed a hardened rigid protruding white spot, size of finger tip, under the tooth she caused trauma too. The next day I had a flight from Portland to California. The flight exasperated the trauma, led to extreme pain, then an infection that then required a root canal that was not needed prior. Before my flight I called Dr. Beadnell's office telling of the symptoms following her banging on my tooth. I was told Dr. Beadnell wasn't available. She never returned my call. I called again, while still in California, and still was not able to speak to her. When I returned to Portland, I asked to show her, that I needed her to look at it and help me, that I was in extreme pain. I was repeatedly dismissed and told that Dr. Beadnell said she can't see me. I told them this was insane and I was coming up there, that she did this to me and I needed her to see & do something about it. Dr. Beadnell reluctantly saw me briefly and took no accountability nor gave any resolution. I had to go to another dentist to file down the filling she never fixed. When I got to that dentist, she completed the work but was also extremely negative the entire time. I almost left but didn't know where else I could go on such short notice not being an established pt anywhere else. The new dentist was rude and aggressive. I couldn't understand why as I was just explaining what happened, she told me "Melissa wouldn't do that! You must have had a really bad cavity!" I was just thinking "how is this happening?" She ended up divulging that she and Dr. Beadnell are friends and she knows Dr. Beadnell wouldn't have done what I said happened. The dentist very reluctantly filed down my tooth with an attitude, making other comments. I felt so vulnerable, at the very least I just needed that one tooth filed so I could chew properly. Her comments seemed as though she thought my intentions were to sue her colleague and friend. I started crying and telling her that if she was thinking I was going to sue or something, that I was not concerned with that at all!, that I just need help. I don't remember that dentist name. I was completely let down & feeling vulnerable. I didn't return for any other work. She was and indian woman with long dark hair, slightly petite in size. I just got out of there and never looked back. It felt like these dentists have a secret society and all have each others backs even when one of them is wrong. About 6.5 years later two of the fillings Dr. Beadnell did, to replace mercury filling, crumbled/broke while I was flossing. I decided I need to get over my fear & get to a dentist. So I called and wrote Dr. Beadnell's office requesting my dental records. No response for over a week. Tried again, Spoke to a woman who said she had pulled up my records, was able to view them and would get them ready for me. Few days later called telling me they actually don't have my records anymore. They are supposed to keep records for 7 years minimum. I informed them my knowledge and understanding of the law. They apologized and gave me a number to a woman and said I could call her & see if she has them. Not that they would call this woman and ask if she has them but for me to call & see. I called, was told they didn't have them. Not everyone gets the same treatment, good or bad. And it's really sad that a health care provider would treat anyone, even just one person as Dr. Beadnell treated me. I wish I was treated better, truth is I wasn't and it affected me terribly. I am certain she will never apologize, she probably doesn't care to remember or acknowledge me. Who knows why this happened with her, it's way beyond me. I just really hope that some how my writing this influences her to never do what she did again. .
