I remember when this library opened and it seemed like the biggest library because it was 2 stories. Now that I'm older it feels smaller but it has plenty of space for studying and just getting away from your family when you're visiting from out of town during the holidays and getting work done. It's a great 3rd space that's not a coffee shop. I visited this location on the weekend and I was able to concentrate and get work done at one of the cubicle desks. There were outlets in each one so I had plenty of places to charge all my electronics. The area I was in was very quiet so it was ideal for concentration. I recently worked out of the Ontario library and while that one is bigger, it's more crowded and not as clean as the Rancho library. I would definitely recommend this space for studying and it's great for young kids as they always have events going on here throughout the month! read more

I like going into the store inside the library. I bought a 50cent mystery bag and it had a little color me book inside with some color pencils and a sharpener. They sell novels, Dvds, vinyls, comic books, magazines, and few other items I didn't get a chance to check out. Staff is always friendly. It feels really nice and cool inside. read more

I misplaced a book, which is on me. However this same book brand new is $12.99 for me to replace this one is $27.65 for a book that probably came out in the 90's. I can't buy a new one to replace this one and I can't donate books to cover the difference. Pretty lame in my opinion I completely take responsibility that I misplaced the book. Which is 100% on me but to charge me more than double the price for a used book that came out in the 90s seems ridiculous. I am more than happy to buy it again brand new from Amazon, but the library told me I couldn't do that and I had to pay the full price. read more

First time I came with my granddaughter to attend their "walk-in story time" for babies. It was a 30 mins activity with limited seatings. I knew my daughter told me they had times couldn't get a ticket that's very disappointed. I asked they should add more sessions. It includes some singing, story telling, group activities, play time & so on. Great to educate babies who are not old enough to attend school yet. Parents love this kind of activity' as it really benefits to children. Their staff are very friendly and caring. We need more in the community to better the new generations. I had been planning to attend Toddler Time now that my toddler is old enough. It used to be hosted at the Victoria Garden Library, but it has moved to the Archibald location. Arriving a bit before 11 am, as recommended by the library staff, I found that extra tickets were being given out by Rancia or Ramsey (I can't recall his name) to four other families who weren't in line. Apparently, it was their friends' first time attending, and they were all in the bathroom. Despite being in line on time, I was informed that exceptions were made for all of these families since it was all of those four families first time. This was also my first time attending, and it had been planned for weeks. Had those extra tickets not been given out, all the families left in line would have been able to attend. Upon informing the staff downstairs, I was advised to contact the children's director, as this seemed to be an ongoing issue with the Children's Department. Rancia or Ramsey and his team seemed indifferent to the upset parents left without tickets due to the exception made. He literally made an oh well gesture ‍. To add to the frustration, as I was leaving the library, I encountered a mother and her child just arriving. I informed her that Toddler Time was full, only to discover that she already had a ticket and definitely hadn't been in the bathroom. read more

Located on Archibald. I haven't been to this library for many years. I used to bring my son here for story time and check out books for him to read as a child. It was so good to see this library surviving the pandemic. Only had to get a new library card. Employees here are so nice and helpful. Enjoyed my time here. read more

My kids enjoy checking out books, the occasional storytime (although the days/hours aren't usually convenient for us), the amazing summer reading program (every day feels like a weekend, with magic shows and animal shows, etc!), and even just going up the elevator. We especially all love the Library of Things, where we can check out everything from board games to kitchen appliances to baby toys to tools. There's no late fees for books or anything! They also offer Link+, so you can get books from allllll over the state (or country?) if their library does not have what you want). I love going online to reserve books, whether from their library or the other brand (Biane / Archibald) or Link+, and they put it on the "hold" shelf for me to easily pick up anytime within a week after they put it there. read more

I am not a bIIg library visiter, due to being dyslexic, dus I still love to read, I just rather buy the book and take my time. This library happens to also have a store with used books, and that is exactly why I love this place. As a customer, you can have it both ways! read more

This is one of my fav libraries First: they have a section towards the back with cubicles and it tends to stay quiet, unless someone comes over and talks while picking a book. Usually older ppl. 2nd: yes, it get noisy at times, but if you get there early enough you can get a good spot in the back. 3rd: children's section is away from the adults so you don't get the kid traffic unless a parent brings them over to find a book. I wish this location was open 6 days a week, so that's the only downside. read more

I recently got a library card through the library. I haven't had one since I was grade school age. They made it so easy and the staff is so nice. They were very knowledgeable about every department and went into detail about what the library offers. Along with the Biane Branch at Victoria Gardens, the Rancho Cucamonga Library on Archibald recently won the 2013 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The staff is just as nice and there is a bigger selection of books and DVDs here. There's a small Tech Center here with computers and free Internet access available to patrons, along with free wi-fi. The children's library and storytime theater are neatly housed on the second floor of the building. They've done a good job of adding study spots and study rooms here, but I prefer the Biane Branch, especially with its Reading Room. However, the Friends of the Library used bookstore here is much better than Victoria Gardens. I've found a lot of great books at absurdly low prices here. I just finished a hardcover copy of Malcolm Gladwell's "What the Dog Saw" that I paid a whole 75 cents for. I've also found quite a few used puzzles (with all of the pieces included) for a buck or two each. Overall, an excellent community resource that, when coupled with the Biane Branch, is a stellar example of how our tax dollars should be used. read more

So, my issue with this Library bookstore isn't regarding the books, I love the bookstore! My issue is this...For Christmas, my husband bought me a yearly membership, as well as $20 in gift certificates. Using the gift certificates has become a running joke between my husband and I because nobody seems to recognize them when I attempt to pay with them, and they don't know the first thing about how to complete a transaction with one. So, I just use my debit and move on. I feel if one knows how to sell the gift certificates, and didn't have an issue taking the $20 to pay for them, then one should also be trained in how to redeem them. The system is ridiculous and I understand that some of the people working there are volunteers, but they require training. read more

I took my daughter to the story time with Ms. Jessica. It was the baby class, my daughter is 7 months. Jessica was amazing!! I loved her energy and positivity. The class had a great turn out and it was so cute to see the babies socialize and compare their different abilities, gotta find a class like this in my area. read more

We enjoy coming to this library. It's nice it's open on Sunday afternoons. The staff are all very nice and helpful. I do feel a bit unsafe at times since there are often sketchy looking people hanging out in the front of the library. Also , sometimes some homeless ppl are inside and they kind of stink up the place . I hate to sound mean but maybe get some air fresheners. We don't linger in there we get our books and leave. I do appreciate that they offer free services and it's nice to see little kids and adults reading. read more

This review is specifically for Archibald only. Been a patron of this library since it opened and a former Friends of the Library volunteer. Archibald library used to be my favorite. It still is great in some ways, lots of resources, quiet, clean. Since COVID, many of the people who worked there before are gone. They were super nice and always smiling, plus they knew their job well. Since reopening, it's hit and miss. Sometimes, the library employees are nice and sometimes not too friendly. The book selection downstairs (specifically non-fiction and languages) has slimmed down a lot and sometimes the shelves look kinda sparse. Lots of old favorites have been purged, which is kind of a bummer. Looks like they have added more current titles, which is nice but the older ones are missed. Had one incident where a library employee said I was responsible for damage in a book I checked out. I did not damage it, never even opened the book and it sat on my shelf. When I spoke to the library staff manager, her demeanor felt standoffish and doubtful. I spoke with her in front of my child, who also said the book was never opened. The library manager did remove the charge but still seemed like she didn't believe me, which my child also noticed. The way it was handled left me feeling embarrassed and not wanting to come back to the library. More than likely, the library staff member who checked the book in prior to my checking it out, did not check for damage properly. Another time, I asked a library staff member to make sure my book was checked in (didn't see it checked in on my online account). The staff member sighed and started sorting through all the books in the returns bin. She seemed annoyed and asked me to keep refreshing my online account. I was not on the library wi-fi, so my account was taking forever to load on my phone. Really, all she needed to do was ask for my library card and check my account that way. There was no reason to make a show of sorting through the bin or getting annoyed. This happened with other patrons around and made me feel like I was inconveniencing the staff member by asking. Archibald is a good library still but they definitely need to refresh their courtesy and kindness skills. Libraries are for fostering literacy in the community, not for making people feel intimidated to walk through the door. On a side note, the Friends bookstore is great, good selection, great prices and kind people. Check them out! read more

I always enjoy bringing my kids here. It's a small library compared to the other Rancho Cucamonga library at Victoria Gardens, however I find it to still have everything that you would still need at the other. Another great thing you can do is that if there is a book that the other library has you can actually have them have it delivered over to the Rancho Cucamonga library within a day so that it can save you the travel. I also find this library to be less crowded than the Victoria Gardens library. Staff is also always friendly and very accommodating and helpful to your needs. read more

This place has ZERO communication. No one ever knows what is going on. Today I booked a 30 min 10 am spot for the Book Store. I arrived at 9:57 am and the girl couldn't find both mine and my moms reservation. Finally she did and let us in. As we walk into the bookstore the lady tells us that we can't go in because they already have 4 people inside. When I told her we had a 10 am reservation she said it was only for 15 min and we had to wait. ***Note, my online reservation confirmation and their website says 10 am for 30 min. and I'm guaranteed entry. Last week they accepted donations from us and today they said they haven't started taking donations. Another lady outside the book store then tells me I need to call another number and make a reservation for donations. So which is it? You do, you never, you need to make a reservation. We left and will only return to Victoria Gardens where you can walk into the bookstore and make donations without jumping through hoops. Doesn't make sense why both libraries are in the same city yet have completely didn't ways of running their facility. read more

I love this library & spend a lot of time here. Both locations (newer location is victoria gardens) are the best in the inland empire. They do not charge a fee to have a membership like the Redlands library. You don't even have to live in the immediate area to have a membership. Awesome!! The bookstores are super fab! You can get used books for under a dollar and the selection is quite extensive!!! This two story location is well kept, clean and spacious. They have a great selection of cd.'s that you can check out to help expand your musical preference, which is always fun. Another great feature is, if they are out of stock on an item, they can transfer the item from their second location & call you when its available. *bonus* I love the convenient drive through book return. I LOVE this library! I am a behavioral therapist and parent coach, and I have worked closely with several of the libraries staff, (Wess Garcia, Christina Olmeda, and Rina Fernandez), while offering Proactive Parenting classes. I have been so impressed with their consistent professionalism, organization, and reliability...it truly is impeccable. The "Play and Learn Time," is of a quality I have only seen in private clinics. It is very evident that Rina Fernandez has a strong knowledge of Child Development, and a passion for what she does. The city of Rancho Cucamonga is so lucky to have such great resources, that are devoted to helping its' families and community thrive. read more

My daughter and I love this library. The staff is very helpful and super friendly. They also extended their book rentals to three weeks and three renewals which is nice for busy people like me. I also like how they are connected with the Paul Blaine library by VGs. If you put a book on hold, they can transfer the book from VGs to the Archibald one. I found that very convenient. read more

I came her to print at 6pm and they have a class going on that takes over ALL there computers which they only have about 10! So i have to STAND up to print I type what I needed to right when I'm about to hit print the computer shuts off i frantically tell the library staff who then tells me it's only a 15 minute timer!! I was pissed I wasted my time and literally as I was about to hit print it shuts off! If you're going to use ALL your computers for a class at least extent the timers while we have to stand and type!!! Try having the classes during the MORNING OR AFTERNOON not when it's the busiest at night! The librarian asked if I wanted to RE TYPE it like no so it can happen again!? Now I know why I go to the Fontana library waaaay bigger nicer & have more than 10 computers!!!!!!! read more

I've been coming here since it opened and little has changed. The upstairs is for the children and I think it's beautiful up there. Lots of windows and open space and natural light and computers and private rooms for tutoring. Downstairs feels more like a library. Even though this is the smaller branch, this place is always busy! Popular books, if they are there, are not usually in stock so you'll have to keep up with the availability. There's always plenty of magazines and media for rent. I used to rent movies and CDs back in the day! Internet access, storytime, book store, handicap accessible. Like I said, this place is small and I went on a Sunday 15 min before it opened and there was already 20 peeps waiting outside for it to open. Get there early and remember to return your stuff on time because those late fees are no joke. $$$ read more

Very impressed with this location. I have been trying to get my passport renewed working with the post office. Got tired of the run around and decided to stop here at lunch time to ask some questions. Amazing customer service. Got all my questions answered and now I can mail my application to get my passport renewed. I spend way too much time here. It has such a calming atmosphere and a great selection of reading material. You can also rent movies and CDs for a low price if you're not in the mood to read. I also love visiting the "Friends of the Library" shop located by the entrance, where you can find books that are only 25 cents to purchase! This library owns a piece of my childhood memories. I remember when it was built, I lived right around the corner and this book nerd couldn't wait for it to open. When the Victoria Gardens location opened, I stayed loyal, and the fact that they ended up renovating to keep up was like icing on the cake. A few times in my life I have been to other public libraries, and they had this weird musty smell, and a lot of books no one wants to read. This library has new books, the day they come out, and multiple copies! There are learning centers upstairs for the kids, they can check-out themed backpacks filled with books, and the summer reading program is amazing! My husband loves to come in for CDs, they have quite a collection. I remember my Mom bringing me here, and now as a Mom I get to bring my kids here! read more

This was my first time to this library, who really goes anymore right. I was very impressed by the overall appearance. Library was very clean and well lit even had a place were you can turn in old books but could also buy some at a very cheap. Really nice and would recommend to anyone to check it out. read more
