The staff is extremely helpful and friendly! It is kept clean and easy to check-in and out books, etc. Our family love the artwork and statues. They have great events for all seasonally. This should be rated much higher than shown.

This is the down town library and it's huge. They also host tons of events. They have tons of security which makes you feel safe. It's super clean but not as silent. I came here to study and they also lack in having study areas. If you need a computer they are stacked with computers but if you come with your own and just want to study then it might be difficult to find a good spot. It also gets a bit crowded and it can get loud. If you find a solid spot to study it's definitely a good spot or if you want to stop by and check out a book. It's a solid library. Oh one last thing. The front is closed off. I don't know why but you have to enter through the back but that's where the parking is so it makes sense. I first went through the front and it took me a while to figure out how to enter lol. Anyways get out there and read some books y'all!

Upset female security guard if you bring in a coffee inside the library.

I recently had the chance to visit this library with some classmates. My first impression was positive as I walked through the door. It's a huge place with some interesting items to look at. All of a sudden a see a female security guard walking fast towards us. In a strong Indian accent she begins to yell "You can't bring your drink inside! You have to throw it away or drink it outside!" One of my classmates had brought in a Starbucks coffee and unbeknownst to us it is a Cardinal Sin in this place. Never mind the homeless that use the bathrooms to do drugs, use it as a personal wash room, watch porn or other inappropriate things! As I pointed out to her another person that had a "disposable drink cup" and asked why it was ok for them to have their drink? She began to say "It's not a disposable cup. I know I saw it." When I began to walk away I observed the security guard walk to the lady with the disposable cup. She obviously didn't use her spidey senses with all guests. Then a male security guard came to us to apologize for the female's behavior towards us. In his strong Indian accent he also asked a bizarre question. He asked to take a picture with us! WTF is wrong with the security there?! I wish I could give this place a better review but apparently all libraries are overrun with homeless people and this particular library has security that puts their emphasis on people bringing in coffee rather than real issues (like homeless using the library as their personal drug place)

Isn't the Lewis Library and Technology center beautifully built by Fontana communities, for Fontana communities and beyond? I truly thank you for being there. The hours are longer during summer. The spaces was clean and peaceful for me to study

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to renew our library cards. Apparently we waited too long and we had to sign up all over again. The lady who helped us, was friendly and the process was easy. In and out with our new cards in under 20 minutes. The library was well organized, everything was very clean. They also have a little bookstore and the library has an app via the San Bernardino County libraries system, so you can borrow ebooks, audiobooks etc, if you prefer that over physically going in. Support your local library!

Too bad the library is currently closed and only offering library to-go The library to go is still pretty good bc you get to reserve books from other county libraries and pick up when your holds come in. Large selection for AR readers. Arrive and give library a call, process is simple and librarians come out pretty quickly with you reserved books. Can't wait to visit library in-person again with family.

Lewis Library is great for all ages. They celebrate the gift of knowledge and have hands on crafts, and also fun and exciting events. We come here weekly to check out books and participate in the activities. Thank you to the staff for all you do here! We appreciate you!!

Located off Sierra and Arrow Blvd. Plenty of public parking. This was my first visit here. Very clean and beautiful. I was looking for a quiet place to work and found it. There's several desks that you could plug in your laptop. Not sure that I would do conference calls here, but I did see a study room that looked sound proof. I need to ask if you have to make reservations to use them. They even have a small Starbucks at the left if you want to grab a drink or snack. Be mindful that you're not allowed to eat or drink inside the library. A few art pieces caught my eye, The General, statue to the left as you walk upstairs. I believe it's a replica of the soldiers dug up in the Qin Dynasty in China. Absolutely beautiful! It's nice to see that even in the day and age of technology, this library survived and is still being used.

This place has nice events and new books. But it has been overtaken by homeless encampments. The entrance smells like pee walking in, despite the Fontana PD being located just feet away. The staff do not welcome pets or bikes and have no problem flagging you at the door. Anything goes at this place. Including drugs just feet from the entrance. I would like to see some change.

new library with lots of seating area. Plenty of parking too because there's a garage underground where you can park. Coffee shop attached to the library but you can't drink inside because they are very strict inside. The librarians will ask you to throw away any beverage that's not water.

Ask the Community - Lewis Library And Technology Center

Do you need a library card in order to just study? Or can you just walk in and study?

You can just walk in. But you will need a card for study rooms.

Is the wifi here stong/stalbe? I need a place to attend my Zoom classes without the connection breaking on me ):

Yes, I haven't had any hiccups with wifi.

Is it open to the public?

Yes, come on in, don't mind the homeless sleeping.

Do they have a coffee shop inside?

Yes it will be on your left before you walk in.

Do they have any meeting room space that would accommodate a group of 30 or so?

Adults area has a room that could hypothetically fit that many people. However, I'm not sure if they would allow you to use it.

We're there last Thursday and the library was closed temporarily due to some kind of air conditioning electrical issues. How long does it take to resolve the problem? I called the library today and it's still telling me to go to other libraries.

Sorry to hear it's affecting you! :( Not sure how long it will take but it seems they have reopened with limited services available. Hope it helps!… Read more

Yes! And YES! The Fontana Police Department is across the street along with the Fire Department. I can't speak for items being checked in through out the day since I don't check them right away online after I drop them off. Yes, there is a way for… Read more

They assisted me with getting my official library card and went the extra mile in getting me a Cantonese language guide that was not on the shelf or checked out. It took them just 4 minutes to go in the bank and locate it. The library is clean and has a lot of sunlight coming in. They have a good variety of books. The patrons at this location seemed respectful and followed the rules. Loved the little Friends of the Library bookstore to the left upon entry that sells vinyls, DVDs and books to support the library. Love the indoor and outdoor parking. I wanted to visit a friend in town and decided to work from here for a few hours as to avoid traffic. It's a great space to work from, there's plenty of seating and outlets for your electronics. I sat by the window and there were outlets at the base and they looked a little older, but they work. I decided to get a library card and Sophia helped me out and she was so spunky and nice and she called me friend, it was a really pleasant experience! She also explained to me the different benefits of the card like checking stuff out from the library of things and logging onto the cloud app to access E-books and/or audio books. They also have crochet & knitting meet-up here. Parking was easy and located behind the library.

I was about to start writing a fresh Yelp review for the Ovitt Family Community Library when I…read morediscovered, to my great surprise, that I'd written one before, just over a decade ago. I guess I've been to this library twice now, and am also getting old. I visited this time around because my book was the One Book, One Ontario pick for 2025. It was a huge honor to have my book selected, and I was very happy to participate in the author event last month and meet so many lovely, thoughtful readers. Librarian Starla Villalba did a wonderful job both organizing and moderating the event. She also decked out the main entryway of the library with displays themed around my book, all designed to engage community members. I love libraries and love to see them thriving due to the hard work of passionate librarians. The Ovitt Family Commmunity Library is a valuable resource for the people of Ontario. I live a little far away, but life is long, I'm sure I'll be back again someday.
