Rancho Aloha is the best Kona coffee I've had due to the flavor and smoothness. I bought the "Prize-Winning Roast." Highly recommended.

Bruce and Lisa are incredibly warm and welcoming plus we were able to make our own personal roast to take home!

Kona Coffee & Tea was the place of choice here in Kailua-Kona. Located at the Kona Coast Shopping Center, you can find this little coffee shop just next door from KFC. The coffee shop is easy to find, as other business surrounding this business is the KTA Superstore, Hele Gas Station, HFS Federal Credit Union, O'Reilly Auto Parts, as well as many numerous eateries. It was late in the afternoon, so I basically came here for some drinks. I had to try their Kona Coffee, and I must say it did not disappoint! The coffee shop has indoor, as well as covered outdoor seating. The shop does sell some food items, but I did not partake or looked at what they had to offer. There was also coffee shop merchandise, but I did not have time to take a look at what they had to offer. Overall, as great coffee shop and if I'm in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by for their wonderful coffee.

Unless you're a coffee connoisseur, you may want to skip the pour over for something a bit less special to save yourself a few dollars. The coffee was fine, but my unrefined palette was not able to fully appreciate the cup of brew. In terms of atmosphere, Kona Coffee & Tea has plenty of seating outdoors around the porch and a few high tables indoor, where they have AC blasting at full strength. They have free Wi-Fi available as well, so I saw a lot of people posting up on their laptops. Parking is plentiful and easy to find since this coffee spot is located in a strip mall. If you have a discerning palette for the subtle flavors that show up in different coffee beans, you will definitely want to stop by for a cup.

It's located on one of the inactive volcanoes and the scenery is absolutely stunning! I'm really glad we came to Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation for our Kona Coffee Tour during our second day on the island. We were immediately greeted and felt welcomed. We did the coffee tour and then after we enjoyed the self-guided nature tour which is $10 per family. They also offer free coffee tastings, and have a store with an assortment of items. I really enjoyed the medium roast. This is such a unique place and worth a visit. It is also very close to the Cloud Forest. You don't need reservations, and it doesn't take much time out of your day. And their coffee is delicious. Thank you, Mike for an awesome tour!

Since we were disappointed we didn't even bother to wait for the free tour and left. Maybe if the woman at the front of the store had been a bit nicer we might have been inclined to stay but it just wasn't fun. We did learn some facts from the booklet so all was not lost. But think about your timing as the guided tour is free and the self-guided is $10. That seems backwards to me.

This spot is located in a food court area and was actually the only place open when we arrived. Since it is a stall, there is not too much to say other than there were two people working and a large display case filled with donuts, with malasadas in the back. After looking things over I asked if they had a lilikoi circle donut. They did not, but they recommended a strawberry glazed donut with lilikoi filling and I went with that. It came out nicely decorated with a pink glaze and a small dab of cream on top with a butterfly. When I bit into it I was happy with the flavor. The donut itself was light and fluffy and the strawberry glaze was solid. The real standout though was the lilikoi filling, which had that great balance of sharpness and sweetness and paired really well with the donut. My dad ordered a coconut malasada and said it was really good as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. They had a big selection of donuts, I enjoyed mine, and I would like to try their malasadas next time.
