Even when assessed using the relaxed standards one frequently must adopt when eating in communities without a lot of dining options, this restaurant is pretty bad. We were a party of two, arriving during the weekday lunch rush: Upon entering, we stood there being ignored by the cashier until we finally initiated the interaction. Her response (without liking up): "Eating here? sit wherever you want." We did as we were told. For a while. Quite while. Finally, the waitress shows up. In her defense, she might have been the only waitress working in the place. We both ordered soup/sandwich combos. The gumbo was flavorful, but the broth is very thin. That is off-putting to some, but like I said, the flavor was there. The sandwiches took almost 40 minutes (40!) to appear, long enough that the waitress apologized twice for the delay. She also pointed out twice that the #1 I ordered took the longest to prepare of anything on the menu. It's a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. Literally just sliced turkey and melted cheese... The restaurant's floor was uneven, with soft spots and broken tiles to the extent that it presents a hazard for elderly people. The bathroom had both black mold and an abundance of spider webs visible. The air conditioning was not able to keep up with the summer weather. It was unpleasantly warm in the dining area. In my crazy Army life I always try to find the gems of local restaurants. The Ranch House does not disappoint. Fresh and tasty are the 2 words that come to mind when I think of the Ranch House. I will make this one of my regular stops for lunch. read more

After calling in an order we waiting 20 minutes before we came to pickup lunch. Upon arrival there were many people waiting for their lunch. One customer was having difficulty with the cashier because their order was wrong. I stepped up to the counter and ask for our order, which was not ready. I then asked if I could pay for our meal and was advised if I knew what everyone had order. I advised the employee it had a few different sandwiches and I didn't know everything. Employee then told me the order ticket was in the kitchen and she couldn't know what was ordered. All of this while she continued to raise her voice. I advised them to keep the order and I would spend my money somewhere else. I will no longer order from this place again. read more

I went here for lunch with three other people. We all had the potato soup which was wonderful. None of us however, were thrilled with our sandwiches. My cousin in particular was unimpressed with the brisket sandwich. The meat was shredded to the point we're you couldn't taste it. His sandwich tasted like barbecue sauce on bread. If I were to come back I would skip the sandwich, and just order soup. read more

I've only been here a few times but haven't been disappointed yet. A good spot to grab lunch. Pretty basic menu with several sandwich options. I really enjoy the sweet tea. Main complaint is not being able to get fries with your sandwich, not a big fan of the store bought ruffles chips. read more

I had the chicken salad on a croissant and although my bread was a little burnt it was pretty good. My husband had a turkey sandwich on the new pretzel bread with the gumbo and although he didn't really care for the gumbo he enjoyed his sandwich. Would go here again. read more

I love this place!! It's a VERY casual soup and sandwich shop that has something for everyone. Their potato soup is out of this world and my daughter loves their gumbo. Great place to bring the family. Service is usually good, although at peak times, sometimes the waitstaff can be a bit inattentive if they have too many tables. This is by far my favorite place to eat in Leesville. The restaurant is only open for lunch, but the food is great and I always get the feeling that I'm eating at a friends house. Service can be spotty during peak hours during the week because EVERYBODY goes there. I recommend the potato soup and any sandwich your taste buds are craving. read more
