The gentleman showed up approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes late with no call as requested to notify me if he was going to be late. Fine. I can deal with that, things happen, no worries. The job was completed in approx 15 minutes. When I went to pay him the agreed-upon flat rate written estimate of $68 in cash he said "No, it's $80." I replied I have your written estimate of $68 here on Yelp. He then awkwardly spit out, "That must've been somebody else's quote." As info, please be aware that all necessary details were provided at the time of estimate request and nothing changed between that request and the day of service; no additional services or repairs were requested and/or performed. He then demanded that "The price went up!" I advised him that this is not acceptable business, that you cannot provide a written flat fee estimate, and then attempt to gouge the customer at the time of service. As he took my money and started to leave he barked, "You can eat sh!t Mother F@cker!" I'll go ahead and state the obvious, this behavior is completely unacceptable in the world I live in, probably yours too. Incredibly shady and negative experience all around. Randy came recommended from Yelp and Nextdoor and I'm so, so happy we went with him! We had a slow-moving sprinkler, another zone leaking, and a solenoid that spun in a full 360. Randy came and fixed it all! He was kind, quick, explained every single dime we were paying for, and cleaned up after himself. He even came to fix something after we still noticed a leak and charged us half price for not catching it sooner (on a weekend, no less!) I used this business and in doing so relied on the reviews. However it was not what the reviews suggested. The guy did an okay job of starting up my sprinkler system so for that he gets this rating. Yet for us he seemed in a rush and was not at all personable. He did arrive early but clearly was not in a good mood. I admit you can't expect that in this field since most are quite busy this time of year. Still he rushed through it and left leaving us wondering if we should ever use him again. Afterwards we had need of someone else to look at our sprinkler heads so we used someone else. That company arrived and did a great job so they will get our future business. When Randy didn't call me back the first time, I thought nothing of it; he had turned my sprinkler on and off several times in the past. I finally reached him at the end of April, and he told me he'd been in an accident. We set a time for him to turn my system back on May 20 at 3 pm. In the mean time, I got an offer to turn my system on May 14, but I declined, out of loyalty to Randy I suppose. When it got to be 4 pm on the 20th, I called Randy. He told me again that he'd been in a car accident and couldn't work. Normally, I would sympathize, but I don't understand why he didn't let me know that he couldn't live up to his commitment. He showed up wearing a mask and had it on the whole time he was here. As a first-time homeowner, sprinklers are all new to me, and Randy happily took the time to answer all my questions and explain how everything works. He has been reliable, on time, friendly, and this last visit respected safety by working in a mask. Randy was great, he was right on time and he checked out all of our sprinkler system. He repaired what needed to be repaired. he could have charged us to repair an entire pipe, but gave us the choice. He said it would be fine if we decided not to fix it, and it would just be an added expense. That's how I knew we could trust him, I have had other people come and look at the sprinkler system and they wanted to repair things that did not need to be repaired. When calling around I was giving much higher prices and much longer wait times. Randy answered my calls every time I called, as I had to coordinate a time with my tenant. And literally, the job was done within an hour of my first call to him. Not sure if he can always pull off this type of service/miracle, but he over-achieved my expectations.
