We were headed to El Paso and hungry when we saw the sign on the Freeway for Ramona's and New Mexican style grub. Instead of our intended stop for lunch in Deming we thought we'd stop here, located in the former Kranberrys location. It was very busy on a Thursday at 1 packed with lots of locals and a few of us transient travelers... good sign! Service was a bit slow but very friendly and it was clear they were maybe a bit short on floor staff so being patient was not a problem. Portions were hearty and the food was really great... particularly if you are a fan of the New Mexico style Mexican food and love Hatch green/red chiles. My husbanded LOVED his Huevos Rancheros (he is always super critical), the red salsa was gold standard and my Chilaquilas were prepared exactly how I love them. The place is clean, family owned and operated and we will definitely stop back in! Side note- some reviews complain about the tacos... it is an actual thing for ground beef tacos to be deep fried using a hamburger patty... can't recall what they are traditionally called but that will be my next order as I am a fan. read more

This restaurant has ample seating and parking. Our waitress was extremely friendly and efficient sorry I didn't get her name. We had taco salad and Huevos Rancho very good. Peach cobbler was very tasty had a breading crust which is different from pie crust. Worth a try. read more

Restaurant (year later) still has previous owners signage, Krackerbox, w a banner that signifies Ramona's. We tried it only after learning that they relocated to this location from in town. Restaurant is large, open, appeared clean. There is a salad bar which was well stocked upon our late morning arrival. We both ordered Mexican breakfasts. I had 2 tamales and eggs which came w hash browns and beans enchilada style for about $11.50. Tamales were the hardest I've ever had, log of masa w little meat, eggs I had to cut through, beans and potatoes were ok. My wife had a side order relleno which she liked, not much batter, and a green chili burrito. The green chili was very warm but kind of floury I thought. The service and hot coffee were very good. We decided we would stick with "Victors" across the street for more authentic Mexican food when traveling through Lordsburg. read more

Decided to grab a bite while the Tesla was charging across the street. Ramona's was a big place, bigger than expected. We waited a few minutes before being greeted and seated even though staff were standing right there. I thought that was a bad sign but after that all went well. Our server was great! The food was excellent! I thought it was interesting to overhear our server later on the phone with her mom asking if she could close up early because she had somewhere she wanted to go. Small towns like Lordsburg have a foundation of folk keeping the lights on and things moving. I got a sense Ramona's is a community hub. Between 2023 and 2025 Ramona's moved from it's cozy previous location to the former Cranberry's Chatterbox. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon. Ramona and crew were filling up the former Kranberry's pretty well. One of our lunch choices is a Club Sandwich and salad. We ordered those here. They were just fine. Plus immense servings of iced tea. And...apple pie ala mode. It was all good. I always investigate the small town locations selling local arts and crafts. Ramona's has a corner for that. Quite a bit was sold out. I remember earrings. I do not buy earrings for the many discening women in my life. It is safer for me that way. We did find a large-print Paper! Road Atlas. Our swift journey from Phoenix to Las Cruces relit my fires of wanderlust. My fantasies of camping in remote, beautiful places. An ideaI could draw an arc from Las Cruces to L.A., exploring only that region on short, overnight journeys. Thst atlas was a wonderful tool forcstriking that arc, then carrying it onto state map pages. What a lovely flight of hopefulness, wistfulness and longing. Ramona's could do all that for you. They will fill ypu up with reasonable, sit-down cafe food, let you graze the local hand-mades, find a fun atlas, then send ypu down the road with your fantasies afire. Came in on a Tuesday at 4:30 pm and there were already a surprising number of patrons. Maybe a third full, which is more than I would expect so early. There was a large family of 14 being served before me, so that backed up the kitchen a bit. I waited about 10 minutes fory ground beef taco salad ($13). Ingredients were fresh; only complaint is that the ground beef could have used seasoning. Service was friendly and the restroom is clean. A nice rest stop! read more

The flies in this place were next level. There were 3 dead ones on the window sill at our table and at least 3 more trying to share our meal. The staff didn't seem concerned that we were trying to swat at them constantly. I wanted to like this place, my plate looked appetizing but the combo plate I had contained the worst tamale I've ever tried to eat. It was very dry. The booth we were shown to sit at had badly torn vinyl. There were tons of tables available but this was where they chose to seat us, in a tore up booth with dead flies. After another long day of driving, a stop was made in Lordsburg and the decision to eat here was decided. Very convenient to the Hampton Inn. Friendly service and the food was very good. The warm chips with the bean dip, cheese sauce and salsa were a good start. A little kick in the cheese and salsa . I went with the pork chops with green chilies. The dish was very good. My father in law tried the liver and onions. The liver was not tender but did taste ok. His mashed potatoes and a trip to the salad bar helped. Stopped on the way through town and found this charming place with a great selection on the menu. Traditional things yes but the service was friendly. The place was tidy and clean. Restrooms were VERY clean and had spotless sink faucets I didn't want to get them dirty even. Ha! Very local place all the old guys on this Thursday morning. This little local place was a great find! We drove into Lordsburg for fireworks and stopped here for a late lunch and so glad we did! The server was so nice and patient with us out-of-towners. Stopped on a road trip to Silver City, NM. Easy to reach off freeway. Large with plenty of seating. Friendly staff. You can tell all the locals come as many on first name basis. Do not come here! Keep driving!! This place was terrible. Chips were stale, Mac and cheese was dry and bland, the tacos were bad, rice was bland, it was all disappointing. The taco meat was just half of hamburger patty, and tasted frozen. Everything did! We sampled the green and red sauce, and the red sauce had a tangy and almost metallic after taste. The green was slightly better, but still unimpressive. We had two servers. One took our drink order, the other our food order. The one who took our drink order engaged in conversation and was kind. While the person who served us our food, an older woman was not paying attention, and acted like we were a nuisance rather than customers. This restaurant brought me back to the 1970s, to my first experiences with the red/green choice in New Mexico. It reminded me of what I've been missing at other restaurants. Under the unassuming name "Chili Meat" or something like that I was served an excellent combination of small pieces of, I think, beef brisket slow cooked mixed with hot green chilis: maybe a 2:3 mixture, and the green chilis were tasty and spicy with that peculiar NM aftertaste. I tasted my daughter's enchiladas in red sauce--perfect NM style red sauce, straight forward, smoky and spicy. This is the real stuff, folks, for a good price and with good service. Careful, easy to miss Ramona's, it's in a building that bears the name of another, former restaurant, Cranberry's Chatterbox. WORTH THE STOP. read more

The server and other assorted staff were super friendly, attentive, and cordial. They were the best part of our experience. The interior reminds me a little bit of a Howard Johnson's. It's dated, but it's clean and functional. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich and it was probably the blandest chicken fried steak sandwich I've had in a while. Lettuce and tomato on the side, which is fine, but putting them on the sandwich was impossible because the American Cheese used on this sandwich welded the entire thing together. There was no removing a bun to add the lettuce and tomato. The french fries had zero salt. Great for the health conscious, but I ended up putting a LOT of salt on the fries to give them some flavor as well. Always eat local, and this location is fine enough, but I don't know if I'd make a trip to Lordsburg just to eat here. read more

Well, this week work has me bringing back peeps from a Vegas trip. Our halfway point was Lordsburg, New Mexico. After a completely disturbing stay at the Days Inn a few days ago this second half of my trip was really nice. So as I always do, I checked Yelp for local Mom & Pop restaurants with decent reviews. Found Ramona's. Just so happens it was right across the street from where Im staying so I just walked over. They start you off with an order of chips and salsa. The salsa was not bad. I had read really good reviews of what I call the everything plate. They call it the #2 combo. Comes with 2 crispy beef tacos, 1 Enchilada 1 tamal and 1 chili relleno rice and beans. You get a choice of red, green or Christmas which is both red and green. I went with the red since waitress said it was a bit spicier. Crispy tacos were good. The taco shells were fried fresh. A little greasy but they had a good flavor. The chili relleno's fried breading was a bit on the bland side but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. The tamal was a bit on the tough side texture wise but was just okay not really that great. The Enchilada was good but could have had a bit more cheese inside. Rice and beans were good. All in all, I will give it 4 stars. There are a few things that could have been better but for the price I would definitely come back and have again. Revised : came back for dinner the same day. Just wa Ted something quick so I ordered the burger with cheese and bacon. Burger was just okay. Not worth taking a picture. Ordered it with onion rings. Same onion rings you would get a Whataburger but I like their O- Rings. Added a side of fried. Also just okay. I would still prefer this burger to a fast food chain because it does have that homemade vibe. But here is where I draw the line...this place is inundated with flies . I had noticed it when I came for lunch but it didn't seem that bad. But when I came back for dinner it was way worse. They definitely need to do something about the flies. Get a bug zapper or place one of those high powered fans you find in grocery stores. It really put me off and I just couldn't enjoy my meal. Had to change my rating from 4 to 3 stars because the food really is decent. read more

We were expecting Kranberry Restaurant so we were surprised. They immediately brought us chips with beans, salsa, and cheese sauce. They were good. We ordered the cat fish we had been craving and Rick ordered the chicken burrito. Kristi said the chicken was good. The cat fish was okay but nothing to write home about. It was more frozen with the coating on it. It would be better if they ordered the frozen fillets and coated them their self. The coating was okay but got hard after a few minutes. Kristi ordered the beans and instead of getting the ones they first served us as a dip, she got ry canned beans. They were dry and flavorless. Doubtful if we will return. read more

So, we are a pretty easy going crew, but to be totally fair I am obligated to give this 1-Star to a place that had a customer rating of 4.2. If you are passing through town, keep going!! Don't stop and waste your time and money there. It smelled funky upon entering, though I was the only one in our family to notice that. When quickly and kindly escorted to the table, we sat to eventually be served stale chips. The girl who served drinks was kind and then our actual waitress was looking elsewhere when listening to our order. The waitress was then kind to offer us a taste of their red sauce versus green sauce. I chose the green sauce b/c it was safely bland juxtaposed to the red sauce that my Partner described had a "distinct rubbery" aftertaste. Before the shocking bill of $63.+ my child noticed that a frozen 1/2 burger patty was the meat heated inside for the taco. I was unusually tempted to ask for a portion of our money back, particularly for my child's frozen burger patty-taco, but we didn't want to waist our time. Don't be fooled by the signs of the old restaurant, "Kranberry's" that still has numerous old, once-glorious signs rotting away on it, while the new $20.00 banner for Ramona's hangs to display the 1-star experience that my family and I, and apparently many other 1-star reviewers have left as a similar experience. My friend and I picked this restaurant to try n I Lordsburg.: Mediocre food, the service was extremely slow especially to get seated and to take our orders. When we got our food, there was a stray grape in my blue cheese salad dressing and a rotten tomato in my salad. When I told the waitress, there was no attempt to ask if I'd like another item. Before we paid, I asked if we could be compensated with a cinnamon roll, she said she'd check and then, let the cashier know that I wanted a cinnamon roll. We paid for lunch and were handed a warm roll. As we walked to our vehicle the cashier ran out after us and said, the roll wasn't free! I had already left a 20% tip in good faith. The beef patty that was in the tacos was mediocre at best. Very tiny and thin and very over salted. Nevertheless, I would give this place a second try. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. It does seem that they are going through a transition in terms of getting started as the restaurant as it still has the old signage, which was a bit confusing upon my entry. My son and ate here based on the 4.2 rating. They were out of cheese dip and ran out of iced tea. We placed our order and the waitress actually said " your food should be out soon". Hopefully. It's a small cafe that's always busy with the locals and travelers! You can eat at the cafe or order to go! I recommend the green chile chimichanga, it's a bit spicy but delicious. They serve amazing pozole and menudo on the weekend! The gorditas are also very good! Everything is delicious here! My family lives in Lordsburg and Ramona's catered for my aubela's funeral. There's not much around. I was starting to get concerned driving here. There wasn't any parking up front, but you can easily park off the street. It's a small restaurant with a handful of tables. Not great for large groups. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She seemed to know all the regulars. I think her name was Julie or Julia. The salsa was good. The price was much better than another restaurant down around the corner. It also was cleaner and better maintained. The burritos were hot.
