Transmission failed after 2200 miles. No honoring their warranty, calls go unanswered. Strongly recommend against this merchant.

Now Enter: Wesley A.K.A Sir Grover of the Five Boroughs. Calm. Grounded. Knighted by competence alone. He assessed the situation with the steady presence of someone who actually knows what they're doing. No theatrics. No posturing. Just focused, skilled work. The kind that immediately lowers your blood pressure because you can tell you're in capable hands. THEN! ...he transformed into Oscar of the Ethical.Gruff exterior energy, heart of gold. No upselling. No pressure. No weird "trust me, bro" fog. Just honesty, boundaries, and a clear sense of right and wrong -- which, in New York, is a spiritual experience, especially after this devastating snow storm, especially in these times where common sense ain't so common and people hoard common sense like toilet paper during Covid. And FINALLY he revealed his final form: The Count of Clear Explanations. One... clear explanation. Two... clear options. Three... a human being who understands what's happening to their own car. He broke everything down in actual layman's terms without making me feel small, slow, or clueless. I walked out understanding what was wrong with my car and why -- which is rare enough that I almost cried into my MetroCard. What stood out the most was the trust factor. I come from a family of cabbies and with my dad on his death bed, a car that still had payments on it, I still didn't have what I needed most -- a mechanic I could trust. A guy. Growing up around cars, I knew how important having "a guy" is, and today I think I found one. I never once felt like I was being played, rushed, or gently nudged toward something I didn't understand. In a city where finding a trustworthy mechanic can feel like dating in your 40s, this was a green-flag parade. They might have canceled Sesame Street this week, but we got the real SESAME STREETZ. (With a Z if you missed it) You can't cancel Sesame Street -- Ha! Let's see you try! Like ninja turtles it goes underground. And thank God for that, because the world still needs Sesame Street. So thanks, Wesley, for reminding me what real New York is about. So if you're looking for: real mechanical competence, clear, respectful communication, and someone whose ethics don't evaporate the second money enters the room... Congratulations. You've found your guy. Ten out of ten. HIGHLY RECCOMEND Would trust all three forms of this man with my chariot again. Great value

Subject: Complaint Against AAMCO Location at 1266 Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY…read more To Whom It May Concern, On August 22, 2025, at approximately 8:35 a.m., I arrived at the AAMCO located at 1266 Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn, NY for a scheduled 9:00 a.m. appointment to have my transmission fluid checked. I checked in with the receptionist, Nakita, who confirmed my appointment. I explained that I needed to leave within two hours to pick up my son from school, and she acknowledged this. I asked her for an approximate cost if a transmission fluid change was needed. She replied that she had no idea. I was then referred to the office manager (a heavyset, balding Hispanic male), but when I asked him for an estimate, he gave evasive responses such as, "It might be very expensive, we have to do the complete diagnostic on your vehicle, we don't know what it might need until we do it." I simply wanted a general price range but was not given any clear information. After waiting 2.5 hours, I noticed my car had not been worked on and was still sitting untouched. I explained to the receptionist that I needed to leave and asked to pay for whatever had been done so far. She told me I could not leave until they were finished. At this point, the service manager approached me and told me: "Take your car and don't come back here. Y'all [N-words] be bugging." I told him I was willing to pay for any services performed, but he refused, saying: "Your money's not good here, just don't come back here. We don't need your kind of money." I left the location feeling humiliated, discriminated against, and deeply disappointed. Not only was my appointment disregarded, but I was also subjected to racially offensive and discriminatory treatment by the staff. I am requesting: 1. A formal investigation into this incident. 2. A written apology from AAMCO and the staff involved. 3. Assurance that disciplinary action and sensitivity training will be taken to prevent such treatment of other customers. I trusted AAMCO with my business and instead was treated with blatant disrespect. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed immediately. Sincerely, Mr.Dupree

I have since used it for my cars, my children's cars and referred my friends to them. Their repair work have been consistantly good and complete. Charlie and his staff communicates consistantly about the status of your repair. When you visit the shop there is constant work going on but amazingly the work turns around pretty quickly. The best compliment I can give is "I Trust them" and the bonus is the cost is resonable.

Plenty of places in Brooklyn have lots of bad reviews, so I went with Malibu due to their lack of abundantly bad reviews. Diagnosed as a rat-chewed wiring harness. Estimated at $390 to fix, which is exactly what I paid. Bit skeptical around how much work/time was actually involved (e.g., I'm a dude who knows nothing about cars & it could have just been a loose ECM wiring plug or a single chewed wire), but at the end of the day, my car is now running perfectly & I didn't have to spend $1k+, so I don't really care how much time actually went into it. Full wiring harness replacements can be thousands of dollars. Also got a tire patched and swapped out for $20, which is cheaper than what a tire repair shop would have charged. Great communication & updates... called in the AM for drop off via tow truck & they promptly kept me updated on progress throughout the day and notified me immediately when my car was ready. Also worth noting (which is pretty reasonable) -- they charge a daily car storage fee once work is done after 24 hours. My dream of not having to deal with street sweeping for a week was unfortunately shattered pretty quickly because they were so quick. Another reason I went with Malibu is because they have a spacious workspace that can hold a lot of cars -- lots of other repair shops have 1-2 lifts in what's effectively a residential sized two car garage. Malibu has a massively sized car warehouse that can hold multiple cars being worked on, and has space for other cars around still. Entire staff is eastern euro (not sure the specific flavor), but they were friendly. I picked my car up right at closing, and got blasted with cig smoke in the garage, which felt appropriate for a car shop closing up for the day. 5/5, would come back!
