If you want a classic, no-frills barbershop experience, there really is no place like Antonio's. In…read moremy meticulously crafted and maintained babybook (thanks, mom!) there is a lock of curly blond hair that Antonio himself cut from my head - over two decades and countless haircuts later, I have never once been disappointed. Although Antonio's changed locations a few years back (about two buildings over on the same street), I know I'm in the right place when I see the traditional barber's pole and hear happy voices bantering in Italian. Tony and his partner Frank are true craftsmen of the old school; they've been wielding straight razors since well before they could shave themselves back in Italy. There are also two other barbers that are apparently related to Frank whose English is poor and barbering skills uncertain at best. I can't vouch for them, but either Frank or Tony on his own would be enough to merit this 5-star rating -- just ask the legion faithful who keep coming back year after year, decade after decade. And, the best part -- free lollipops or bazooka gum for the kids.

My daughter is vain. There are no two ways around that. But, she's also picky with her hair. Since…read moreshe was staying with us before spending time with my mom, she searched endlessly not just for some quack Barber- but one who can make her looked snatched with a cut, shape her kinky curls and give her a fade. She found it here on Lake St. in White Plains. D'Cache is well-kept and I could tell it's a popular spot in this area because I just kept seeing guys coming in and out. My daughter spoke highly on the quality of her cut and fade these guys are putting out. Turns out, the guy who did her hair is a Dominican brother who is very alert and took his time on her hair. By the look on my daughter's fade, this guy aims to please and makes sure ANYONE leaves here looking their best. And to the person who wrote both, "..must not like white people" AND "I'm a white Puerto Rican"-you make no sense- these are way two different things dude. I saw black, white, brown coming and going out of this place- and my daughter who wanted a fade at that! So no...these guys aren't racist.

I called up my girlfriend to inquire as to where her beau gets his 'dos done and she mentioned New Roc Barbering & Hairstyling. We drove up after lunch in the area and there was no wait. Two stylists were on staff and they have plenty of seating, a television to watch while you wait your turn and lots of magazines to keep you occupied. Our nephews are 11 and 16 and both were able to verbalize exactly what they wanted. Both stylists listened to the boys and they looked great after their cuts. The place is clean, as they sweep up between customers. They have a bathroom in the back (lightswitch is on the outside to the right, FYI) that is kept nice and clean as well and is pretty large. I believe they have about four chairs for customers and their hours are convenient. As per tradition, they're closed on Mondays. They have a very small parking lot that requires some maneuvering in order to exit. I spotted a few people parking in the lot next door when this lot got a little packed. It's a very professional, quiet environment and I felt very comfortable compared to some of the other shops to which I've accompanied hubby. The boys were satisfied with their haircuts.

Most of, if not all of the barbers besides the owner are unlicensed (or don't display their license anywhere) and extremely young. The last time I went was the final straw -- they touched up the front of my hair and cut a few strands from the back and made it look like they did something. When I got home, I immediately noticed that the back, the crown, was essentially untouched. I needed to get another haircut immediately from somewhere else to fix the mess they left my hair in. This has happened multiple times from multiple barbers in this shop. I refuse to continue paying for bad haircuts.
