Well, there our really only 2 hotels in Bedford on 460, unless you want to go to a Roach motel/inn This hotel is decent fairly new, all staff our extremely polite. The breakfast is not a typical hot breakfast, just cereal, breads, waffles or yogurt. It's stuck close to all the happenings about 3 miles away to anything you would need read more

As an experienced hiker, camper, and traveler to sometimes inhospitable places around the world, I had to check this place out while passing through Roanoke. Well, it IS as awful as the other reviews indicate. This Ramada hotel is a motel whose better days are behind it. My room was dark when I arrived after midnight, and the light switch was for a lamp whose bulb needed replacing, so I needed my phone to locate other lamps. Even in the dim light, the place was shabby, to put it kindly. The dirty windows had heavy curtains but not sheers, to give you and your neighbors a good look at each other. An aroma of stale smoke, Pine Sol, and possibly air fresheners hung about the non-smoking room. Cigarette burns decorated the limp sheets. The tub had been painted over ages ago and was cracking. There's so much more! After reading the other reviews, I knew to check for bed bugs and found none, but this did not keep me from staying up itching and regularly waking to the loud fits of groaning emitted by the elderly mini-fridge. The wifi works fine. The breakfast buffet was starches on styrofoam. Too bad also that the route to it passed an extended-stay guest who kept his door open on a 40° F morning to greet you. The one star is for the staff (and also because it's impossible to give zero stars), who do try! At the time of my stay, Ramada Roanoke had an offer of a bottle of water and a bag of chips, but the night manager was perplexed by it. So, in the morning, was the manager. From showing the offer to both, I have checked in twice, so I am now "Duchess" of this wreck! read more

This place is disgusting. I must find an alternate location. Meet family here and affronted by pee in the stairwell and and smoke smell in the room. Yuck. Please don't consider staying here. read more

I'd give 0 if I could. We booked this on hotels.com and it was not advertised accurately. We showed up around 9:30 pm on a Sunday to find people hanging out in parked cars in the parking lot. One guy even had a camping chair and was sitting outside his car in the chair in the parking lot. This is a legit dump and very unsafe. One of the elevators was down and covered in cobwebs. The other elevator was disgusting and dark and smelled of smoke. We went up to our room and it wasn't any better. Just disgusting all around and very unsafe. As we were leaving, a guy jumped in the elevator carrying a brown paper bag. As we left, he was overlooking the ground floor, drinking out of it. We left and never looked back. We ended up finding something else last minute and will not be back. Avoid at all costs! read more

Room is ok. Sprayed disinfectant a lot. No bugs. Elevator smells awful, covered my nose when in it. No remote. No ice machine (manager did get us ice in a bag, which worked). Suggest you check out other places. read more

This place is a NIGHTMARE I don't even know if I'll make it through the night...room smells like urine and is dirty...place itself gives you an uncomfortable feeling. Got bite all night by who knows what and I was scared for my life...don't stay here read more

After a long day of traveling we consulted the Virginia travel coupon books and called around to a few properties for room availability. Trusting the Ramada brand we felt comfortable staying there. The person on the phone was quite accommodating and took our name to hold a room for an hour. We pulled in and immediately pulled back out. There were 4 police cruisers in the parking lot as well as a dozen people hanging all over the exterior walkways. It looked as if it was a set piece from a Hostel film come to life. The building appearance was appalling and my wife and I did not feel safe there particularly with our kids. We spent the night at a Baymont Inn which was fine. While chatting with the night manager we mentioned the Ramanda in Roanoke. They rolled their eyes and commented that they worked there as well. Working there and dealing with the clientele was likened to their time as a prison guard at Sing Sing, commented the manager. Avoid until significant changes are made to the property and clientele. read more

As noted by others this is by far the worst place I have ever stayed. We were down for a football weekend and our booked hotel was overbooked they sent us to this 3rd world motel. The corridors stink of urine. Some rooms are condemned as "unsafe for staying". The new paint is one thin coat of hooker red. We had one towel for three of us. Although it was fine as I was the only one brave enough to use the bathroom. We bolted at the crack of dawn and stayed at my sons off campus apt the next night read more

This place is a true dump. We thought cause it was a Ramada it would be semi decent cause we had our dog. The room we got had new carpet n fresh sheets n towels. However the paint interior was various colors and chipping. They had parties going on in the banquet rooms so people would hang outside and you smelled the smoke and people talking loud till midnight even later into the morning. The exterior of this place is rusted n full of cobwebs n needs a serious power washing along with a paint job. I will say the reception desk people were very friendly n helpful read more

Nasty. Gross. Seemed like we living straight out of the movie Vacancy. Had a bed and a shower, that's the only reason we stayed. Had I looked into it more I would have not stayed here. We ordered a king bed in a NON-smoking room. The room smelled as if someone had been smoking a pack a day and then dumped the ashes all over the furniture and walls. There were brun holes in our bed, which thank god my girlfriend and I had our own blankets so we could sleep with. The free breakfast in the morning was like eating cardboard, cold cardboard at that. The only benefits to this place was the fact that there was a moat that surrounded the building protecting us from Wizard, Warlocks and anything from Mounty Python and the Holy Grail. DO NOT STAY HERE. Spend the extra $15 and go to the Holiday Inn or go sleep under the bridge right next door. read more

We stayed at this hotel due to the fact it was closest to the hospital and we had family there. We arrived in the area late and hotels were full. Worst place we have ever stayed and I do mean ever. First of all the room doors have enough room for snakes to crawl into your room as there is a creek running right at the doors..only thing separating it is a small embankment. They need to fix the doors but obviously this is something that has always been. A snake was found slithering in the breakfast area so this should be enough for them. Next they gave our personal information out not once but three separate times. The lady at the front desk printed off a hotel guest list and gave it out. We were harassed horribly bad. Do not stay at this hotel your personal information as ours was may be given out which poses a threat to ones saftey. Needless to say we checked out made a report and will never go back. It isn't safe to stay at this hotel. Apparently a lot of drug dealers, drug addicts and such frequent this place. Please for you and your families saftey and protection go elsewhere. We will now be checking all our ccs to ensure no fraudulent active is occurring. read more

Stay under a freeway overpass instead. Sure, you're likely to get robbed, stabbed, and approached by crack whores. But the primary difference is that you won't have to pay for it. Oh, and the underpass probably smells better. We had a group of friends in for a weekend event. Three different people were given rooms that were occupied. Showers didn't work. Air conditioning didn't work. We didn't feel safe leaving anything in the room; for all we knew, they'd give out our room keys to the next guest who checked in. Customers were smoking in the elevator... When the elevator worked. The "non-smoking" room smelled like stale cigarettes and dead hookers. And, yes, there were crack addicts. Stay away. The only way to salvage this place starts with a wrecking ball. Update: Oh My G-d. I didn't think that it could get worse. How wrong I was. They charged me for two nights, even though I checked out at the front desk after one. I called the Wyndham customer service line, and wasted an hour listening to music. Called the hotel, and they said they'd reverse the entire charge. Instead, they charged me a second time. Still working this out with my bank. A call to the Better Business Bureau is next. And then, maybe the police. Do NOT stay here. Do NOT stay at any Wyndham property. Do not ever give them your credit card information. It's times like this that a one star review just isn't low enough. read more

Worst hotel experience ever. Nastiest hotel ever. Dead bugs hanging from the ceiling, our non smoking room reeked of smoke, vending machines were completely sold out of drinks, fitness center consisted of 3 machines, one was out of order the other 2 weren't even plugged in! What a joke! Dirty smelly bed linens, nasty hallways and obviously not kept up maintenance wise. Unfortunately we had NO other hotel options due to a large event otherwise we would have run away from this dump! read more

Ramada by Wyndham Roanoke - Wow how nice! What a lame excuse for a fitness center! - Hotels Near Me - Roanoke, Virginia

Very dissatisfied with our stay. Lousy experience from check-in to check-out. Person at the front desk acted like he couldn't find our reservation & wasn't very welcoming. Went to our room & it wasn't very clean. There was dust on lights & other items in the room. We noticed there were no towels. When asking at the front desk, they gave one & said housekeeping would bring more. We ended up with 2 towels total , 1 hand towel, & 1 washcloth. After dinner when we came back, there was a steady stream of noise which was shaking our room. Our room wasn't in the main building where the noise was coming from. It was some type of party or something. Asked person at the desk about it and they said that it would be done at midnight. When we informed them that it was shaking our room, they didn't seem too concerned. When we used the bathroom we saw red shabbily painted walls thst had bug carcasses PAINTED on to the wall. The paint was actually over top of the carcasses, like they couldn't even be bothered to clean them up before they painted. Also noticed a ceiling tile over the toilet look warped & possibly a little mildewy. Only good thing was the beds were comfy. Wish we had gone somewhere else, but just decided since we were sleeping before heading home we'd make do. Tried to hang out by the pool around 9:30am only to be told that I couldn't even sit on one of the chairs until they cleaned the pool. Went to use the bathroom before we checked out, only to find out that the ceiling tile had broken & fallen all over the place. Thank goodness we weren't using the toilet at the time or it would have landed right on us! Told the front desk person when we went to check out & they didn't seem too concerned or apologetic. The topper was getting home & unpacking to find a souviner I definitely did not want! A cockroach as big as my thumb! This is a Wyndham establishment. Wyndham is supposed to be the best #1 place to stay. This place certainly doesn't prove that. read more

We booked this room after 5 days without power in the sweltering summer. Although the air conditioning was so very welcome, and the hotel lobby was set up beautifully, it was not at all representative of the hotel itself. The halls and balconies were poorly lit, dirty, with broken tiles and decay very evident. You could see the street below where the balcony walls did not meet the floors and the insulation had decayed and browned. The "laundry facilities" consisted of a washer and dryer crammed into a small space next to an ice machine - with no lights and sketchy power sources. The "recreational facilities" consisted of 2 tandem bikes - seemingly from the prior century - and a treadmill that was unusable due to the belt being dry-rotted. (Yes, it was that old). There was a strange odor in the lobby hallways and the parking lot was full of holes, chunks of asphalt, and cracks. The room itself was no better - outside of the conveniences of air and power. The room was billed as a queen size room. The headboard was queen size, the bed itself was a full. The blanket had holes in it and barely fit the bed. There were dark stains on the carpet and the box spring. There was no smoke alarm, and no knob for the "heater" in the bathroom. The toilet was filthy and looked as if the underside of the rim had not been cleaned in ages. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were cut and did not fit in the drop-down grid properly, leaving dark gaps in the ceiling area. Although there were a microwave and mini-fridge in the room, both were old, scarred, and dirty. There were spill stains/runs on the wall, as if someone had thrown something liquid against it and it had never been cleaned. The lampshades were dirty and torn and the ironing board cover was stained and dirty as well. It was, however, nice to have a clean pool to provide some relief from the misery. It seems as if more attention has been paid to the lobby - to give appearance of beauty and style - than to the rooms, which are much more important to the guests who must reside in them. Again - although it provided a respite from our situation - I would not recommend this hotel in the state that it is currently in. read more

DON'T STAY HERE!!! Pulled in at 1:30am driving home from college. The idiot at the front desk said he wouldn't let me stay there because I wasn't 21. Had to sleep in my car. I'll be 21 in 3 months. Nastiest people I have ever encountered!!! read more

The exterior and interior were chipped and smelled awful, like smoke and mashed potatoes. there was no shower curtain in the bathroom which was a huge safety hazard seeing as water was everywhere after a five minute shower. we also had moldy soap left out on the bathroom counter, comforters just thrown on the end of a bed, and there was also some graffiti on multiple floors with foul language. overall you sort of get what you pay for, but the shower curtain was our biggest concern. thankfully, the staff were very nice when we brought it up. read more

This has been one of the worst places my husband and I have stayed at. We stayed 1 night because we were down here for his graduation. This place is a disaster. There's mold everywhere, the AC has literal spores on it. The shower is filthy, there are stink bugs everywhere, and the elevator is terrifying to use. Hotels.com advertises it as a completely different place. The cheap price doesn't mean anything. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

Over all not impressed by the lack of interest by the staff. Not unfriendly but definitely not the best customer service one could hope to experience. The hotel isn't really something to be reviewed as they are still being renovated from being flooded-which is excusable for a certain amount of time. The room, however, is an absolute joke at an attempt to be what most would remember Ramada to of once been. Subpar amenities, disgusting comforters, lack luster showers, and horrid disturbing water temperature fluctuations are just some of the lovely things to experience for your stay here at establishment. read more

Well...... where would you like.me to start.... well first thing is the rooms are ruin down with water damaged on the ceiling in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Holes in the walls with paper painted over them. No blankets on the bed but you do have sheets to stay warm on a night like last night with temperatures in the 20s. Bedrooms aren't clean 2 out of 5 stars. So.....this morning for breakfast.... let's see eggs were old and taste like plastic. Donuts were a week old by the taste of hardest. Overall 1 out of 5 stars for the free food. Guess that's why it's free for the price. Overall .... don't come to this place. Stay the hell away read more

The only interesting thing about this facility is that it has a moat surrounding it. Other than that, it was a terrible motel experience. The outside of the building looks dilapidated, there were urine stains all over the carpets, people smoking in stairwells and bathrooms, guests yelling to each other from the balcony down to the parking lot, and dirty accommodations. Not to mention that the "hot" breakfast was barely eatable. We will never stay here again. What a disappointment. read more

If I could put no stars I would. Exterior walls absolutely filthy. Trash bags everywhere. Dark parking lot. Elevator floor looks like it was falling thru and they fixed with something and covered with a mat so we're wouldn't see it. Please do not stay here. Very nasty place. We booked on line and the pics on the website are not what it actually looks like. Checked in and the lady tells us we booked the best room at the place. We got to the room and I didn't even want to walk in there and once I did I wouldn't touch anything that's how nasty and dirty it was. The jacuzzi in the room was nasty and all the tiles around it were busted and broke. We then got online and booked another room somewhere else. Please read the reviews before booking this place!!! read more

Cheap room? Yes. Friendly staff? Yes. Clean? Not so much... Our non-smoking room smelled like a chain-smoker had stayed there before us. The bathroom felt dirty, and the floor in the tub gave the feeling that I was going to fall through the floor at any minute. Towels needed a little extra bleach too. Can you beat it for $60/night? Probably, if you look around a bit. read more

This is the nastiest place I've ever stopped. The room was filthy, and the front desk attendant was clueless. Gave some bogus claim that we couldn't get our money back because we had registered and been in our room at least 20 minutes. Impossible because we checked in, drove to room and walked in. I literally had to argue with her for 1/2 hr...after being on the road 21 hrs. She cancelled charge on card and we left. Only to find out she had pit through another aut authorization on my cc for more than original charge. Call to manager was useless. It took a week for hold to release. read more

I can corroborate the first 12 reviews of this MOTEL. What the heck happened to the Ramada brand? If you have any breathing disorder - avoid. These non-smoking rooms (we stayed in two of them) were clearly smoking rooms once upon a time. The door locks are sub-standard and security is non-existent. Yes, the rate is great but here you do get what you pay for. Staff is polite and accommodating earning the two stars. These rooms are not clean. Not by a long shot. I've stayed in similar places and at least the counters and appliances were clean. Not here unfortunately. Grime and grit everywhere. read more

The pictures on the web are not the accurate representation of the room or hotel. The room had flood damage that was not properly repaired. The walls were not properly finished, and the paint job was horrible. The lamps in the room were missing light bulbs, and broken. The vanity above the sink did not even have a switch to turn on the light. The entry door did not properly close, and was not very secure. The shower did not drain, and hair was floating up from it. When my wife attempted to report the issues, the front desk clerk was very rude / confrontational. The clerk also acted like he could not understand her English. Avoid this property at all costs it is a total dump. read more

Potentially acceptable for its price. Our room was renovated and very nice. But everything else about the hotel is pretty decrepit and rundown. The carpet on the main floor by the elevators was disgusting. The back side of the hotel looked like one of the shadiest hotels I have ever seen. But, probably by design, we were placed on the "safer" front side. If you can afford better, I suggest you buy better. read more

If you're in a grunge a rock band and need a cheap place to say, then you found it. The hotel was very noisy, the rooms are dated, and the carpets are filthy. Luckily it was Roanoke so I didn't feel unsafe, but in just about any other major city I would have eaten the cost of the room and gone somewhere else. I felt better that there was a cop patrolling the back parking lot. As a single guy on a short trip, it was cheap and good enough. I spent very little time in the room, and at least the sheets seemed clean. They offer a free breakfast, which basically consists of eggs, lots of pastries, cereal, and a waffle maker. They offer free wifi, which is actually cool since most hotels want to charge for this nowadays. If you are traveling with a family, or even a wife/girlfriend, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your stay in Roanoke. read more

Worst motel EVER! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! In one word: dump Do not ignore the reviews you see on this place. Stay here at your own risk. --- WARNING --- Everything is very old, dirty, unkept, and in disrepair and dangerous... broken outlets with wires out, nothing updated, nothing is fixed when broken, the building shakes. Seems unstable. Walkways are warped/shifted. WTF keeps up the walkway around the building on the 2nd and 3rd floor? They used very flimsy material as "railing" construction around the 2nd and 3rd floor balconies. Don't let kids push on it! Dangerous. Property in Bad location sandwiched between highway and downtown streets. Stinky water canal runs though place. The ramada parking lot seems to be a short cut for many types of people walking through. Not a family place. Scary. Interior and external area is Dark and gloomy. Old beat up doors that don't latch well. Carpet ripped and burned. Ripped curtains. No working vacuum? Trash cans full. Litter everywhere. Cigarette butts. Rooms smell like tobacco smoke. Rough place. Rough neighborhood. Make sure you can protect yourself here. Weapon recommended. I stood guard all night. No relaxing sleep here. To top it off, we all saw strange shadows that didn't make sense. Chilling. Maybe it's haunted lol. --- WARNING --- read more

I travel to Roanoke/Salem to visit family several times per year. This was my first stay at the Ramada Roanoke. The hotel is run down, everything is old, dated from the 80s, dirty, smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Our floor was filled with loud drunken locals staying there long term. We had a non smoking double queen room. We don't smoke and our clothes smelled like smoke. The only reason I stayed there was due to all other hotels were sold out for nights I wanted to visit. Thank goodness we stayed busy with activities away from the hotel. Avoid this place! read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever been in. DO NOT believe the photos! I was told by the desk clerk the 3rd floor rooms were a bit nicer and quieter than the first. She said the first is more for the locals! What? Hookers and druggies is what I saw. But I have a disability and my service dog (no charge) so I stayed on the first floor. I'm not sure what the smell was but it wasn't manufactured on earth. I was tired from driving, my dog was hungry and the weather was horrible. I'm going to get a full body scrub for unknown toxins and a flee/ bug dip. Wish me luck. read more

One of the cheapest hotels in the area and a 2 Star hotel. The room was dated, floors look unclean. The hotel is noisy. I had to cut on the TV and run the heat to drown out the noise. I did not feel completely safe there. The breakfast is pretty good and they have a lot of food. It consisted of cereal, waffles, oatmeal, muffins, doughnuts, yogurt, fruit, coffee and juice. They also have sausage gravy and eggs. At the time this review was written, they had HBO. Many hotels do not furnish. You can also buy movies for a fee. The office staff is nice. Update since I wrote first review over 2 years ago. I have stayed here multiple times. The rooms are not that clean. I have found on several occasions no stopper in tub. In some rooms AC not work. Now the remote to TV does not work unless you stand directly in front of TV. And usually internet does not work in several rooms I really don't feel safe here. I could elaborate. I feel like I have to constantly watch ny back. The hotel is cheap, but maybe an extra 30 bucks is worth it. Up to you. read more
