Do not stay here!!! The room was disgusting and forget about COVID-related precautions being taken. The room smelled of animal urine. I actually found animal paw marks on the comforter. This tells me that they are not being washed. There were blood stains on the walls. A hair was found in the microwave. The paint in the bathtub was peeling (needless to say, I didn't shower). The area was very sketchy (suspected drug addicts and prostitution). The safety of the room itself is also questionable. I only stayed because it was a late night check-in and I had Clorox wipes and disinfectant spray with me. I complained to "management" and he actually blamed me. I had the pleasure of staying at the Quality Inn in Salem, Virginia, for a full weekend. There were very few issues, none of which compromised the comfort of my stay. This Quality Inn was in the middle of renovations, but the work did not disturb me personally. It also allowed me to choose an end room with an adjacent room closed for upgrades. The room I stayed in was completed. The shower and bathroom upgrades were fabulous. My only issue would be with the new style mirror lighting provided. It could have been slightly brighter. The room furniture was only average as well. The seating provided in the room wasn't the most comfortable. Otherwise, the room was spotless clean and roomy. The staff was likewise efficient and courteous. Adora checked me in punctually and allowed me to select my preferred location in the motel. She was extremely informative and charming. The breakfast facility was spacious. The food was magnificent, and the lobby, like the room, was exceptionally clean. When combined with the Quality Inn cost-per-night, this motel is an excellent choice for value. If you want clean and modern features at a price that won't crimp your budget, the Quality Inn Salem, Virginia, is a wise choice. read more

Stopped with my senior parents since they like motel layout. Seemed Old but thot I'd try. I walked in, guy sitting behind desk was in sweatshirt, acting way too chill, not friendly. I asked to see room and he was so unaccommodating . He said he couldn't, he 'didn't know what to say' he wasn't allowed to do that. It was more the way he spoke to me than anything, not mean just super poor customer service. Bad: The floor was filthy. Our white socks and bare feet turned black walking on the carpet. We killed a cockroach the first night. There were three adults checking in, but only two towels. They replace towels every three days. On the website, it says they are pet friendly. I made reservations via Hotwire only to find out (during checkin) they are only dog friendly. Good: If you walk in you can see they do not accept cats. They have good reasons and I had to speak to the manager (because the reservations are non-refundable). She allowed the cat as long as we kenneled him. We tried to bring him with us during the day. Great breakfast! Cold working fridge. Comfortable beds and pillows. Excellent water pressure in shower. Friendly staff. Couldn't hear traffic inside room. Hot and cold temp adjustments worked! read more

My boyfriend and I were passing through trying to find a hotel that allowed dogs when we found quality inn. Prices are fair, rooms were very clean, staff was extremely nice and breakfast was delicious. If we ever travel near this area again I would definitely consider booking a room here again. read more

Very nice looking hotel on the outside. The room was really nice too. You know how most hotel rooms you walk in and you're like "wow this is nice" but then you notice the dirt and dust in the corners of the floor? This wasn't like that. It was clean and smelled nice and they had free breakfast bags too (covid, ya know) that had a granola bar, apple, a breakfast taco, and a yogurt in it. New ownership 6 months. The place is exceptionally clean. The first floor rooms very convenient. Parking right outside the door. The management was very nice. The breakfast buffet was very appetizing. There was a great variety, everything was fresh. The owner even came to our table. He asked us if we needed anything and offered to make us a fresh waffle. We stopped here late one night. The room appeared clean and tidy. When we checked in, my husband requested a room on the first floor. He was told there weren't any available. We were given a room on the second floor. My husband says that he noticed that there were several rooms on the first floor that appeared to be empty. Adequate overall but not great. Was passing through the area and stopped for just a nights sleep. Since late and just needed a bed for nights sleep on way home selected due to price and have stayed at other Quality Inns. Got there around 11:30pm for check-in. At this time you can't get into the lobby area, Only the hallway area to ring a buzzer and talk to desk receptionist thru glass and then put your license under the a window cutout. Ok, maybe there is a bit of crime in this area...I don't know...but once you have my license and see I have a reservation couldn't you let me in the lobby to finish registration. Felt like I was a criminal and not trusted in the lobby, yet you have my license. I stayed at the Hampton inn down the street on way down, in same area, and they didn't do this. The late receptionist gentleman also had no personality and was a bit indifferent. He wasn't rude or bad, just indifferent. The rooms were decent. They were clean, a bit dated but not old, bed was a little too firm for me, had a small fridge and microwave and had good shower pressure. The heat/AC HAS TO GO. There is not temperature setting, a dial with hot and cold colors. We got up about 10-15 times....too hot...then too cold. This is way too dated and a pain in the royal ass to get the room temperature you want. Lastly the free hot breakfast was good. They have make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt, toast, bagels, etc and the girl working the breakfast was beyond nice, welcoming and friendly. For $15 more I would stay at Hampton Inn where they let you in the lobby for late check in, rooms are way more modern and have temp settings on heat and AC unit. Not a horrible stay here. One star for breakfast and one for lady working breakfast. The rest was nothing to brag about. read more

Sigh, where to begin. Having stayed here with high hopes from people telling me Quality Inns are great I guess we picked one that was not the best. The staff was not very friendly and a few of them just stared at us. Also the place reeked of cigarettes even in the no smoking rooms as people stood outside on the balcony or near our door and it came in through the a.c. One morning we smelled it in the breakfast room which is unacceptable. The breakfast deterated each day we stayed with more watered down coffee and juice and less food. Even one of the staff was complaining about the quality of the coffee. They were also slow to replenish the breakfast and kept an eagle eye on what we were consuming. On the last day there was no Danish pastries, even though we ate breakfast by 7:30. We extended our stay due to business and the woman at the desk couldn't have cared less. The room was ok. The bathroom had mold. I should have moved to a different motel but stayed because it was easier than moving. read more

Stayed overnight for Snowpocalypse 2015. Room was acceptable, the staff I encountered looked a little harried but I can't blame them for that since it seemed all the interstate traffic were trying to get a room there. What I found unacceptable was the fact that they did not plow the parking lot overnight. This led to me getting stuck, repeatedly. I eventually walked over to Food Lion, bought a snow shovel and a bag of ice, and dug out what seemed like half the parking lot to escape. I would like to think there was some reason that they couldn't get the parking lot scraped, but considering many other businesses managed to accomplish that in the area, I'm guessing there isn't. We've stayed here sooo many times and The Man who owns this place was nice at first just so I would leave a good review. That was a cover up and BS!! Please keep reading!! Today is Friday April 8th 2022, we've stayed here this time for several days but today took the cake!! Every single morning we were woken up between 8-9 every single day asking us if we're staying again!! They knew we were!! We have never caused issues here. EVER!! Truly never!! A few of the front Desk people are truly nice. Not their fault the owners are assholes and liars!! The owners wife pushed our limits this time. This morning i went and paid again to stay. Was told the it would be 65 plus tax and it comes to 73-74 something. But tonight was told I was charged $145 bucks. WTH!! Huh!! I said no no. Noway I we would stay for that price!! Pure BS!! Never!! Tonia who worked the front desk called the guy who billed me this morning told her yes I told him 65 plus tax.. she said ok cool. Then she had to call the owner wife!! She's the manager. Tonia told her the situation and the manager started going off on her calling me a liar and so forth!! Wow!! I was in shock. I heard everything from the phone. She was loud. She said no he's lying about him paying 65 plus tax and Tonia said no he's not lying, I talked to KK who worked this morning!! The manager said all he does is cause the front desk people issues. This isn't true at all. Check out is 11. We've always paid. ALWAYS!! I'm in shock. The manager said to tell me 95 plus tax!! I said hell no that's BS!! My CC wasn't ran the card machine like it's supposed to be!! I would never stay here for that price when I could of stayed in a 4 star for that price. The manager said If I don't like it then I can leave!! Once again in shock. We've never done anything wrong here. Ever. We come from Alabama to Salem Va.. now here is where I'm just sick of it. They stole my $$ and charged my card for more than what I was told!! Thief's. I will be calling my CC company asap and file CC fraud charges!! This place isn't worth staying at. Been getting really bad!! Bad people stay here. Very very dirty floors. If you wear white socks for 2 mins on the floor. They will be either dark brown or black. This is the facts. The front desk people are good people.. WELL MOST OF THEM. I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM. The manager is horrible and a bitch and steals peoples $$ I moved my fridge to the side to plug it in and OMG very very very dirty.. packers of old ketchup and dead bugs!! No bed guys. I thought this was a very good place to stay, The staff was terrific and the room was very clean.The pool was crystal clear although it was near the highway. We had a 1st floor room and it was very quiet. The breakfast was better than most quality inns since they have biscuits and gravy and all the food was very good and fresh. We stay in Salem 5 or 6 times a year and this will be out place of choice in summer months because of the outdoor pool and the Quality Inn across the street will be our winter month choice because of the indoor pool. read more

I have stayed here twice. The first time the place was okay. This time NOT. I stayed over Sat. night July 1st 2017. I tried to make a reservation on Thursday. Their website wouldn't take my payment by way of their app on my Verizon phone. I tried again on Sat. morning with the same result but the price had gone up by twenty dollars. So, I did a walk in. I explained the problem and the desk clerk gave me a ten dollar discoult. Still higher that the first quote on Thursday. the room had several problems. The wallpaper in the bath was peeling in two places. The fridge was difficult to open and close because the cabinet it was set into was rotten at the lower right, hinge corner... and had some sort of black stuff "growing"? on the floor near it. The ice bucket in my room would not fit under the nozzle of the ice machine on the second floor where my room was. Slanting the bucket made the clear plastic bag liner shoot out when the ice was dispensed. By walking down stairs I could get ice because the machine on the first floor had a nozzle that allowed the bucket to sit upright. The floor at the top of the steps on the second floor had some sort of messy spill extending about ten feet. The spill was there when I checked in on Sat. afternoon and still there when I checked out on Sun morning. In the parking lot there were two ice cream cones that were laying in the parking spot next to mine. Both had been there for a while because both were dried out, hardened. The door to my room allowed light to come in from about 2/3 of the way down to the floor. It appeared that either the door was bent or the gasket was damage. I have photos of these problems and if I could figure out how to post them I would. This hotel has changed dramatically in less than a month and the change has NOT be good. I do NOT recommend the place to anyone. It appears the management has either given up, is out of control or has changed. Regardless of the reason the place is not longer the nice place I said it was a month ago. Go somewhere else. read more

This is a very clean venue. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi is good. The breakfast was much better than normal fare including eggs, bacon, sausage and the other usual offerings. We travel this area 6-8 times per year visiting family in DC. it varies where we spend the night but this was the worst yet. Our room reeked of years old cigarette butts. Apparently when they remodeled some time back, proper steps were not taken to eliminate the odor. It was noisy all night. Walls thin and windows with no insulative properties. It was clean enough but bedspread had cigarette hole. Beds and pillows were just ok. I have not seen a Standard size bed in a hotel in years! Breakfast and coffee were ok. Coffe pot in room did not work. Will not stay here again. read more
