Stopped just to get a couple hours of sleep and let me just say I would not recommend this place at all. Pulling in there was a group of men sitting outside drinking. Get checked in and run to the bathroom only to find roaches running around. The one bed was clean but the covers were covered in cigarette burn holes. The other bed had hair all over the sheets and burn holes. There was stuff all over the floors and walls the fridge was nasty and there was a bag of empty beer can and alcohol bottles right outside my door.

It's a motel so don't expect luxury. But it is clean, safe and front desk was friendly. It also allows pets to stay for free. My room came with a mini fridge, microwave, and clean towels. Nothing was wrong. It's walking distance from food and gas station. No complaints.

It's okay if you bring Lysol and bleach. Sink had hairs in it and sheets were stained. Didn't see any bugs though. Staff was friendly!

The room was in poor condition with dirty walls and floors clearly present. Probably the worst shower I've ever experienced with a small weak stream of water exiting the shower head. We had to put our heads under the spigot just to get the shampoo out of our hair. I recommend replacing the shower head. There is a ton of water pressure available. The head is simply poorly constructed & ancient. Frankly, I would have happily paid 35. more to stay up the street if I had any idea how bad this place would be. The breakfast was ok and the bed was ok even though it was older and on the hard side. There is no way I'd ever visit this place again. The product is the brainchild of an obvious skinflint who with their short sightedness has created a wholly cheap motel with a poor future ahead.

The hallways were old and dirty looking.Upon entering the room, the carpet had hole in it and looked old and dirty. The bed was nicely made with decent linen. The bathroom was disgusting. Wallpaper was peeling from the walls near the shower. The floor of the shower was stained and looked as though it had been patched. I ended up putting an extra bath towel on it to stand on. When booking, it said that it was non-refundable. If it had been, I would have immediately gone to the Comfort Inn right next door. That is where you will find me on our next trip.

When my boyfriend's mother noticed an email she had received saying we had been booked for smoking rooms, she calls and tells them that we wanted the non-smoking. They said they had switched it and had told us this in person when we got to the front desk, however we were STILL put in smoking rooms. The rooms are super dingy. Scrapes and scratches all over the walls, ceilings and furniture, with an overall tacky look. I will rave about the bed though, it was VERY comfortable and one of the few good things about this place. In our bathroom, we were missing a shower knob, therefore we could not take showers..once we left the room for a bit and came back, there was a wrench on where the shower knob should have been, so we could just turn the shower on with the wrench??? lol. The funny thing was that we had not even told them about this issue yet, it was as if they has already knew and were a little too late on fixing it. I felt pretty unsafe here. There were a lot of sketchy characters hanging around the outside and I refused to walk around at night. The staff that we encountered were a bit odd as well. While we were in our room, a lady knocked on our door to give us some new towels. She was very sweet, but I had a hard time figuring out that she was an employee since she showed up at our door in a tank top, jeans and flip flops. This hotel seems to be a big destination for hikers since the Appalachian Trail is right outside from here, which then I could understand that this place would be a good fit. For a vacation, go elsewhere......

While it is a bit far away from Salem/Roanoke (where the rest of our party was staying) the savings were worth the extra 10 minutes on I-81. It is located right off of the interstate but far enough away that we hadn't heard any of the traffic coming from the highway. We arrived in town around noon to find the front desk clerk unfortunately having to turn away someone who had not made a reservation because the hotel was completely full. (Guess it isn't too far from Tech for some folks, after all!) We couldn't check in until 3PM, but by that time we would be at the game and wouldn't be back until late that night. I was apprehensive but everything worked out well: we came back close to midnight and there was still a perky front desk clerk there who processed our reservation in no time. The hallways seemed nice but nothing spectacular, a typical chain motel off of the highway. But the rooms themselves were gorgeous: clean, ordered, and homey, our room on the second floor had wooden beams running along the ceiling and attractive, modern furniture/bed dressings, definitely feeling more upscale than you expect from a Super 8. The bathroom was clean and inviting, with complimentary toiletries, and while we didn't use them, there was a fully stocked coffee maker and an iron in the room as well. There was an unexpected amount of comfort and style at this hotel, especially for being one of the "lower" national hotel chains. It's more than perfect for the Hokies fan booking a room in a pinch.

Upon arrival the building does NOT look like the photos as they are currently under construction. I was told the room we booked was not even available and was given a queen room. I needed a king size bed so my infant can be in his travel bassinet on the bed with me and my husband. I needed an accessible room for my husband. After 2 room switches we were given an accessible king room. Got into the room and was a bit wary due to the smell. The window appeared to be missing drapes to darken the room completely. We began to unpack and I pulled out my baby's food to heat it for him and as I went to grab his bib my husband saw a cockroach. We immediately knew we could not stay as my toddler was going to be sleeping on a blow up toddler mattress on the floor. We spoke with the attendant at the front and they were unaware of the cockroaches. We let them know we were packing back up and finding a new hotel. My daughter needed to potty and we saw the water was brown, definitely not from rust either. The water from the faucet was also brown so we used the hand sanitizer I brought. Upon leaving the bathroom we saw a second cockroach (my husband got a photo of it when he tried to get a picture of the toilet water). Comfort Inn down the road is where the person at the front desk recommended and it is MUCH better and FREE FROM cockroaches. We are currently mid complaint process via the BBB. I've shared the photo we have with them and am now sharing it here.
