This place is pretty laid back. Great place for a fishing trip or boating weekend. There is a boat dock right in front, along with some picnic tables and lounge chairs to enjoy the view. Rooms are cute and comfortably decorated. Mini frig and microwave. Bathroom was quite large, but vanity was way too small for any useful purpose than simply a sink. Also, beware of floor and shower area, as it can be quite slippery when wet. No hair dryers, so bring one if needed. The price was reasonable, but the view was priceless. Relaxing and cozy. We would stay here again if in the area.

The building is narrow, so the rooms open on to both sides, east and west. That meant a bright sunny room in the morning, which is great if you are there for early fishing. There's also water on 3 sides, so you get a great view of the lake. There is a microwave, frige, and coffee maker, which is helpful because the nearest anything is 2 miles away. This is also one of the very few places around the lake that isn't a condo or long-term rental.

The lady at the bar was friendly. The owner was okay...for there only being two customer vehicles here and just the other two customers besides us it was kind of a cold welcome. Worth a stop though for some snacks and good mead! My wife and I spent the day hiking at the nearby Otter River, so this was a welcome stop. I bought a 16oz etched glass bottle of Mazer mead, and another of the "Master" flavor. As somebody who has made hundreds of gallons of my own mead, the flavors were really unique. Varying alcohol content too if you're looking for something heavier (or lighter). I wouldn't suggest buying more than one "growler", as they were just etched glass bottles. Having grown up raising honey bees, it's really cool to see a place like this where the mission is to endorse honey and happy times with the mead bees help make. If you want a Quentin Tarantino feel and you're in the area, check it out! I'd like to give 4/5 stars but for a small business like this I'll send a little love

Your private deck view sweeps down into the valley below the Peaks of Otter, taking in John's butterfly garden and personal beehives. Oh, he also runs a meadery out of the inn--lucky weekend guests get to sample and take home his fantastic products (careful, though, at 17% ABV, they pack a sneaky punch). What a wonderful…read morediscovery tucked on the crest of a Blue Ridge mountain with spectacular views and serene surroundings. The Lodge was so comfortable and hosts, David and Ginger McDonald, were so friendly and accommodating. It was the perfect respite from a tiresome and anxiety filled week of packing for a move. I slept like a baby in a bed so comfy I wanted to take it home. Although it was rainy and the fog kept us from exploring outdoors the warm ambiance inside the lodge and time spent with family made this a sweet and memorable experience. The lodge has been there for quite a while but David and Ginger, the new owners, are determined to make it a haven for guests and a destination for the area. They went out of their way to welcome us...even offering to drive down the mountain thru heavy fog to pick up our dinner we ordered! Totally unexpected and certainly above and beyond the duty of a host! Loved it! Can't wait to find an excuse to visit again.

Our first view walking into the tipi made my heart sing. Beautifully decorated inside. It has a kitchen area with electricity. They have an electric teapot. Perfect for a spot of hot tea. I brought a cooler with plenty of frozen water in ziplock bags for cold drinks. I made cocktails every night. Next the tipi has a wood burning stove. And a whole bunch of already chopped wood. We have a wood burning stove at home so we brought paper and pine cones with a bag of sticks just to make it easy starting and keeping fires going. We needed and loved the wood burning stove. Kept us super cozy for our whole stay. The bed was super comfy and they had plenty of blankets. My favorite was the cool lighting they used. I just felt like we were in a fairytale. Outside there were chairs around a fire pit and we sat out under the gorgeous stars and made s'mores. During the day we went around town and played mini golf and tried out a few restaurants. There is lots to do around town. There is even a trail in the woods on the farm. Oh yes. When you enter the tipi they have a book you must read to know everything about your tipi experience. After that we hung out in the hammock. So calming watching the trees sway while listening to birds We like staying when it is a little chilly because there are less bugs. There is no running water. So there is an outhouse. But it is great because it is clean and has a mirror. They also have a solar shower. I'm not the biggest fan just because that water is kinda cold to me but it certainly made it a hilarious memory. My suggestion do not add much soap. I did shower every night and felt clean and refreshed after the solar shower. My husband is not a camper but he loved this. We both had a fantastic stay. Oh one last note. I prefer very quiet while sleeping so I always bring earplugs. You are in nature

We rented the "Eagles Landing" tipi for a quick MLK weekend trip. This was such a cool adventure! I…read moremean that in multiple ways, because it was also cold during our weekend. I would recommend planning your tipi weekend during warmer months, unless you're lucky enough to bring someone who will wake up every hour or two to keep the fire going when temperatures are in the teens. (Also, bring extra blankets.) I think the fire would keep the tipi pretty dang warm when temperatures are in the 30s and 40s, but below freezing you'll have to put a little more effort in to be comfortable. All of that aside- this was still a five-star experience and a memory I'll never forget! You can pull your car right up to the tipi which makes unloading things easy and convenient for locking up your valuables when you go explore. The Eagles Landing Tipi had a really comfortable queen bed and a pull out couch. I loved the decorations around the tipi. The pot belly stove gets hot enough to cook all your meals, you just may need a little bit of patience. The tipi has just about all the cookware you could need, but my travel companion/personal chef was glad he brought his own cast iron skillet. If you can see in my pictures, he was able to cook quite the feast with everything provided. Washing the dishes is a little tricky since the sink isn't very deep, but it all worked out. There is an outdoor shower and an outhouse. I've never seen an outhouse so nice though! I know that is weird to say and I forgot to get a picture. They really paid attention to detail when decorating each part of this rental. We didn't use it, but there is also a place for a fire pit outside. There isn't any wifi, but I was pleasantly surprised to have cell service all weekend. It was still more fun to be off the grid for a little bit though. The tipi is on a farm property which means there was basically a petting zoo just a short walk away. They ask that you don't go into the fenced areas, but all the animals were happy to come over to get love (or more likely to eat food if we had any to give them). There were trails to explore behind the property and lots to do in the surrounding area. Grocery stores are nearby if you forgot something and several restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. I recommend visiting the Liberty SnowFlex for a hot chocolate and front row seat to the sunset. There are a ton of trails that branch off from there as well. We did start to run low on firewood, but they were happy to bring us more before our last night. No complaints! This was such a cool, unique experience. I hope to return one day!

This is one of those "Don't judge a book by its cover "…read more places. They have recently installed a new roof and soffit, but the parking lot needs replacing. Inside was a very pleasant surprise. Everything is new and super clean. New Beds and mattresses, flooring, nice flatscreen TV. The bathroom is all new toilet, tub and shower. The drawback is that there's no breakfast, or laundry. The owner is very nice man and is persistent about making sure you're happy with your stay.
