The local tree companies were overwhelmed. Several good out of town tree services leaned in to help folks in Austin after the ice storm. SP Tree was one of them. SP Tree Service had excellent recommendations in their home service area, and made good impressions with neighbors here in Austin. Their bid was competitive in price with other vendors, and much better than the price of many similar vendors both local and out of town. They offer all the attributes of a first class company - insurance, excellent communications, good equipment, employees instead of contractors. Bottom line - we are delighted customers. They were accurate and upfront about the scope of their work. Two of the owners came to write the bid, and they returned on the day of the work to supervise the excellent crew. SP Tree's communications, emails, quote system, and overall business structure were impressive, friendly, and efficient. They were accommodating to small change orders. For example, we requested cleanup of one additional tree, and it was quickly added to the quote and fairly priced. They even brought their own stump grinders and gave a fair price for grinding out the stumps of trees we had to remove. We had 9 big, tall trees that needed heavy pruning, and 3 that needed to be removed. One removed tree was a giant black walnut tree in the woodsy part of the back of our yard that had been hit by lightning a few years ago and died. We've used several yard and tree services over the years but this team was the best by far! Their qualities were: * Friendly and professional to talk and work with * They have the credentials and skills to do the high tree limb work, and the experience to take down big, dangerous trees safely, and with uncanny skill of directing where the tree will fall without doing damage to anything else. And, they use very good safety gear. * The team of 6 showed up on time, everyone worked every minute they were here, and their obvious skilled teamwork was truly fun to watch as they took down the big trees. * They have the machines to do a good bit of the really heavy work: Tree climbing gear, tools with backup blades, etc, in case something breaks, stump grinder, a small backhoe to lift out large trunk pieces or piles of brush, a large brush collection truck, etc. They came fully prepared for the job they bid. * They did everything in the bid and more, and they cleaned up completely. We realize this is long, but we actually haven't had a services company in a long time that we wanted to praise so much. SP Tree Service won't give you the cheapest bid, but we felt our large job was very reasonably priced for the quality of execution and of service and for the ease of working with them. .
