New "kid zone" in our backyard.
    Julia C.

We had a great experience with Ralston Landscaping redoing a portion of our backyard. We had an old shed that we needed removed, some fence we needed replaced, and wanted the area made into a "kid zone." Chris came out to estimate the job in person, gave me a competitive, detailed quote quickly and was able to fit us in in a few weeks. Chris and his crew were prompt, organized efficient and clean. Being new to the process, we were indecisive about a few different elements and Chris dis a great job giving us the info needed to decide quickly (eg he estimated out different scenarios, recommended turf and specifically which kind of turf, etc). In just a few days they totally redid the space and it looks fantastic. We would use Chris and his team again in a heart beat.

BEFORE: Hodgepodge of weird dying or dead shrubs and the flagstone path to nowhere.

Chris came recommended from a neighbor and lived up to and beyond the five star hype. I asked him to take over for my overworked DIY hubby to finish our backyard renovation with a pretty tight timeline. Honestly, our yard looked like a lumpy abandoned lot before he started work. I really couldn't even picture that my yard could look like his after photos, but it does! We moved forward with 90% of his recommendations and he took hubbies numerous add-ons in stride and still finished earlier than I expected. He is extremely professional and has the perfect balance of visionary, project manager and skilled landscape artist. We went with a minimalist overhaul without tree or shrub additions. When we are ready to add to the yard, he will definitely get our call.

It was such a great experience working with Chris and his team - Omar was the main craftsman and was incredible. We have done quite a few remodels and Chris was the easiest to get ahold of and had by far the best communication. The project turned out great with lots of ideas from Chris and Omar that made it look way better than imagined. Would absolutely recommend this company and would work with them again in a second.

Big thanks to Ralston Landscaping for doing an excellent job on our front yard renovation. Chris does what he says he's going to do and beyond. He is a genuine person, pays attention to detail, and completed our job on schedule. Unfortunately we had already remodeled our back yard or we would have hired him to do that too.

My wife and I had never had landscape work done and Chris made us feel comfortable with the whole process.

Beautiful quality, incredibly healthy, already nearly taller than the established shrubs, and very reasonably priced at $129. They helped load it, answered questions, and made the whole process easy. All I have left to do is widen the hole I already dug. You can see a dip in the existing row from an earlier Photinia replacement several years ago from Costco. Love Costco but sometimes you don't want to wait. Thanks Chris!

I spoke with a friend about our experiences at Johnson's, and we both agreed, it feels like walking into an old western saloon where everyone knows "you ain't from around these parts!" I was looking to buy a magnolia, but wanted to know what the differences were, which is better for our environment, so I approached an employee who tried to avoid eye contact with me until he could do it no longer. He started stammering when I asked if he knew anything about the trees I had considered contenders. He fumbled with his walky-talky to try to find someone else to help me, but spotted (who I found out later was the manager) watering plants in the vicinity. He asked her if she could help and she replied rudely with "WHAT?" as she clearly saw me (the customer) asking a question. He stammered nervously and she followed up with "What do you want?" I jumped in and asked my questions about which is best and she said, "They're all pretty much the same." I asked if any were better for our climate/environment and she said with an attitude, "We don't sell anything that doesn't grow around here." She then curtly turned away and went on with watering the plants. I did not feel copacetic with her "customer service," so I bought my tree and decided not to go back. I would rather go to an establishment with less selection, but better service. Also, the prices are on the higher side for some things, but reasonable for others, it just depends on what it is. Either way, Home Depot works for me from now on, and if they don't have what I want, I'll research somewhere other than Johnson's. It's a shame, too, because the place is like walking through a botanical garden, only the vibe given by the staff is that "it ain't big enough for the both of us!"
