RISKY - UNSAFE PRACTICES DURING THESE TIMES Everyone is nice here and SOME employees are following guidelines BUT MANY are not! Here it's not the customers you have to worry about (following social distance guidelines) it's the employees (some-not all)! We were in the last few times for our weekly shop while sheltering in place and it was worrisome! 1st when you enter (during 60+ hours at least) just upon entering the door we were "funneled" between 2 employees (very nice BUT) just 2-3 feet on either side wiping carts. Then when in the store a deli employee came out of a rear door, saw me and then continued without hesitation to walk VERY CLOSELY in between us ( very close) - NO Mask - No Gloves - Nothing! Then there was a shorter Hispanic bald employee darting around literally weaving through customers back and forth from the back of the store to the front - "he literally practically brushed my side as he darted by" - AGAIN - No Mask - No Gloves - NOTHING! There is no avoiding this guy unless you run, lol. He walks so fast he is upon you before you can move 6 feet away! Now don't get me wrong all of the employees seem very nice BUT these are VERY serious times !!!!! "Literally" life and death in some cases! If you don't feel the need to cover you face because you think are super men/women. OR think you are somehow immune to this and know for sure you are not asymptomatic because you have been tested..... THEN PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! RESPECT OUR SPACE!! TAKE THE RECOMMENDED PRECAUTIONS AND STAY AWAY FROM THE ONES TRYING TO BE SAFE!! read more

I go to this store on a regular basis. Cristian is the best cashier. He is so helpful and knowledgeable. He always makes my shopping experience pleasant. This is the cleanest and best run grocery store in the area. Everyone is so friendly and the store well stocked. read more

Horrible experience, 1 cashier, and waiting for ever. They locked the bathrooms so not only do I wait extra long I cannot even go to the restroom. (Thought it was locked but then an associate came up and punched a code and went to use it). Nice. After that I stood in line until the same guy that used the bathroom finally checked me out. Hello Albertsons from now on probably. I've never had a problem before so maybe somebody higher up needs to realize they could use some help. Give them some empowerment to keep the customers happy! This is a pretty nice Ralphs. They have a self check out. I don't come here too often especially since I dont live in the area. They always have ample parking and its close to the beach. If you really wanted you could buy some lunch or drink and take it to the beach for a nice oceanview. read more

Here goes my first bad yelp review... This place is a mess!! A lot of the cashiers are so rude specially this lady today that was at the self checkout who completely ignored me and walked away when I told her something was priced wrong. She made me wait 5minute and came back to me and said "so what is the problem with the price" with a rude attitude. When I got her attention on how she was talking to me she started getting all defensive as if she wasn't doing anything wrong and I had to remind her that I am the CUSTOMER. This isn't the first time I have a problem with this store and there customer service. This experience made it clear that I should not go back. read more

Substandard selling practices. I buy only organic fresh fruits and vegetables. While shopping here last week I noticed there were several bunches of bananas along with the organic bananas, which have their own section. There was an employee standing nearby, and I asked him why the non-organic bananas were with the organic. He asked me how did I know they were not organic! Mind you, I know quite an extensive amount about organics, so this question was an insult to me. I then proceeded to tell him how I knew, which really any moron would be able to decipher by looking at the stickers on the bananas. But a non-organic begins with the number 4, and an organic begins with a 9. I then told him it was fraudulent to place the non-organics with organics. This idiot was laughing at me. I then asked him if he thought it would be funny for me to go to the manager. Of course, then he stopped laughing. I finished my shopping, found the manager and told her about the incident. I showed her the bananas and by that time he had separated the non-organic bananas, but left them in with the organics. I told her this is fraudulent, you don't mix up organics with non-organics. She said she agreed. I spotted him and pointed him out to her. She said he was the produce manager!!!! I then told her that I was not real happy knowing any of this, and how do I know that all along he has not been putting non-organic produce in the organic section, just to fill space, or to sell the produce? She said she would "speak to him." Well, they are co-workers and clearly on good terms, so I doubt any kind of reprimand took place. Not a good way to sell food that I am happy to pay extra for to avoid pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. He was an a-hole, and has no right or place being the produce manager. read more

Would not order grocery delivery from Ralph's again. Ordered over a dozen items. Told delivery between 1 and 3. At 4:45 they delivered ONE item. Seriously? And for that they charge a delivery fee. read more

I'm a regular and the employees are very friendly. Don't know why the other people have such negative comments. It is a smaller Ralph's than most. This would have been a 4 star review, but the meat department disappoints. When I was growing up Ralph's was know for their meat and butchers. That's seems to be gone now. Their price for tenderloin is very reasonable, but they don't trim them up like they should. You end up cleaning them up at home and pitching about 1/4-1/3 of what you bought. Can't I please get a center cut filet minion with out having to clean it up? Also, the gentlemen who work in the produce department are the best!! Thanks for all your help. read more

I have rarely encountered such rudeness to my face from a cashier. The cashier had so much attitude because i did not have my reward card and i did not have any number associated with it. This one goes out to my local Deli. Service: A+ Maria and Ryan show a genuine love for their job and the customers they serve. Maria is always full of positive energy, and genuinely eager to fulfill any deli/food needs I have. She's always giving me great suggestions, offering for me to try new things, and is always a pleasure to be around. Ryan, is also very friendly and is always happy to give a sample, and make sure I never leave without having what I want, even if it's just a couple of potato wedges. He seems to have an solid culinary background as well by his food suggestions Food Quality: A+ Food is almost Always fresh and delicious. If the potato wedges aren't perfect, They'll make another batch for you on the spot. Suggestions: Add more vegetable options at the deli. My only choices are usually Brussel Sprouts and Mushrooms, and their delicious but I just wish there were more vegetable options. The things I saw in this store blew my mind! And not in a good way!. There is a checker on lane three who needs a lot of help as far as health standards. She coughs all over the food she scans! I saw this happen with my own eyes! She even spit in her waste can under her receipt machine! Why is she there,! And she is grumpy! There is a young hispanic gentleman who works the deli/ sandwich counter. He was very professional and accommodating to help me make my ready made sandwich the best sandwich possible. The condiment area was out of small mayo and mustard packets, so he offered to but the dressings on for me. He was careful and expedited the job with such care that another couple, who were waiting to order a sandwich, wanted to know what kind of sandwich I had ordered. Thank you young man. read more

My husband is one of the nicest people, and his comment to me after shopping at DP Ralphs last night was ' after spending over $200 I did not get a Thanks, or even a hello from the checker. the Deli woman told him to give her his order, and go shopping..... which he was about to suggest. He did shop and when he got back to the Deli counter she said 'I thought you left'! So he waited while she took his order again and got it ready. Honestly Ralphs, when we spend time and money in your store, treat us like people and be a little grateful that we have chosen your store to do business. Nothing special as far as the inventory, but what makes it quite unappetizing is the low quality of the staff working there. It seems that they're hiring quite a few people who seem to be undocumented. One has difficulty understanding what the staff say most of the time, e.g. there's a bald guy who's quite rude and seems to be on break half the time. Time to fire him? As they say, the fish stinks from the head and hopefully the top management looks into this store more closely. read more

I can't believe I'm yelping a grocery store, but the way we were treated was awful! We called to place an order for sandwiches for 20 people, like a platter type deal, not crazy complicated or anything, just as an appetizer. The woman in the deli department was the rudest person I've even spoken to, she hung up on me, I called back, I kept my cool the whole time and then said (calmly) I don't appreciate being talked to like that, then hung up on me again!!! Wtf!!! Yeah we went to Albertsons. Then about a week later we were heading to the harbor and I popped out for wine at this location and as I was grabbing some of the fancy cheese near the deli I could hear her voice yelling and giving attitude to a customer and the employee who unfortunately has to work with her. So sad that she is in customer service and touches our food, I don't trust someone so mean spirited. I complained to the manager he said,"yeah we get a lot of complaints about her"......ummm wouldn't you guys fire her or put her in the back somewhere?? read more

This is the best Ralphs ever and I shop there almost every day and I love it! The staff are warm, polite, friendly, helpful, and I adore all of them. (The older butcher is a little scary, I'll give that)...The veggies are fresh, stocked. Meats are well presented and stocked. Store is very clean, but it is an older building so it shows age/character. It feels more cozy than a big, newly built commercialized store. I feel very relaxed shopping there and look forward to every visit. The prices are great! read more

I'm happy with both this store & Albertsons in Dana Point. I eat a vegan diet & am so happy that this store carries a lot of my healthy weekly staples without always having to drive to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. There are some specialty items I stock up on elsewhere. It's right around the corner from my house. Their salad bar is EXCELLENT & they carry kombucha. Win! read more

Peggy is amazing, always so friendly and so helpful, a very knowledgable lady and goes completely out of her way to help customers. Brenda, the new addition to our Ralph's is a genuine sweetheart. Hector is very passionit about his job and always calls my lady and I by our names and we love coming in to say hi to him and do more shopping. Christian always helps us with self checkout and does a splendid job. Nash is a great employee and so is Paul. Andrew In the meat department knows everything about his department and always has a warm welcoming smile. Although a couple employees do still need some additional training on service excellence, which I will not mention their names. This store has had some serious improvements and I am here to acknowledge that we really have noticed. read more

Unfortunately, all the 1 and 2 stars are totally valid. My story: They forgot to bag a couple of items after they rung them up. I realized when I got home so I called them back - no apology or anything, just "yep, we have them." When I walk in, I had to interrupt two employees talking who didn't even acknowledge I was standing there. Once i was directed to the right guy, I received a "there you go." Not the biggest deal in the world but since I'm reviewing them, I might as well talk about every other experience I've ever had here - no one acknowledges you when you get to he cash register, they have conversations between cashiers like customers don't exist, there is never a "thank you" or "have a nice day." There have been multiple occasions where I had to wait for the cashier to stop chatting it up with each other to ring me up.. great location and OK store, but no customer service read more

I would like to start this off by stating that I appreciate Ralphs very much, and have been shopping at Ralphs for all my grocery needs for over the past decade. I also worked for Ralphs as a courtesy clerk/cashier for 2 years while in my senior year of high school and my first year of college(2007-2009). I learned a lot from Ralphs, and one important skill that Ralphs really taught me was customer service. As a courtesy clerk, I was responsible for returning unused shopping carts to the front of the store, and bagging groceries. I was the quiet type, but learned real quick that I was required to speak up, greet and create minimal conversation with customers while they were checking out. This is a skill I still have to this day, and has really helped me grow up. Fast forward to present times, I recently had a visit to the nearest Ralphs that I have been shopping at for the past six months or so since my recent move to Dana Point. (24871 Del Prado, Dana Point CA, 92629). Every employee/cashier that I have interacted with at this Ralphs location up until this point have been nothing but respectful to me up until Wednesday (10/14/15). My friend and I had a very bizarre altercation with a cashier(Catherine H.) at around 8pm when we stopped by to buy a 24 pack of Rolling Rock(beer). My friend (Zack) and I placed the beer on the conveyer belt and without any sort of greeting, the cashier says "Ok who is paying for the alcohol." To which then Zack said, "that will be me." Catherine H. says "Are you over 21?" Without any response, Zack pulls out his California Drivers License and proceeds to hand her his license. Catherine H. takes the license from Zacks' hand, looks him in the eye and says, "I'M GOING TO ASK YOU ONE MORE TIME, are you over 21?" In complete shock, slightly embarrassed(there were customers behind us that witnessed this awkward moment) and not realizing if Catherine H. is joking or actually serious, Zack replies, "Excuse me?, I just handed you my Identification, it states my date of birth right there." Catherine H. then says, "Ok I'm cancelling this transaction, and you boys are going to have to buy your alcohol elsewhere." to which Zack replies, "this is bullshit." I then ask Catherine what is the reasoning for this, and she says she has the right to refuse any sale. As Catherine H. is putting the beer aside for a "go-back" I ask for a manager. Catherine H. points over to the on duty manager (Azi/Ozzi Jaleb). I immediately walk a few steps to Ms. Jaleb and start to tell her that there is a problem and Catherine is refusing a sale for whatever reason, and without even acknowledging me Ms. Jaleb starts walking towards Catherine's register and asks her what is going on. Catherine H. states, "I am refusing this sale of alcohol because the customers are being rude, not responding to my questions and cussing at me." (Ms. Jaleb could care less what our side of the story was, as we tried to explain to her what exactly happened and she immediately interrupted us saying we can buy the alcohol at her register.) Okay, no problem. We then move to Ms. Jaleb's isle and wait for her to finish processing her current customer ahead of us. About a minute and a half later, Ms. Jaleb finishes up with her customer and starts looking at the receipt printer and the current receipt printed.(Previous customers receipt?) Zack and I are patiently waiting for about another long awkward minute as Ms. Jaleb, not facing us, is looking at the previous customers receipt(no customers behind us). Ms. Jaleb finally turns to us and says "you need to learn how to talk"(exact words) and that we have to go elsewhere to buy our alcohol. Completely surprised/confused and without any arguing or outburst, we left the store and bought out alcohol at the Rite-Aid in the same shopping plaza. This was the most bizarre situation either of us have ever been in. Neither of us have ever been refused service at any establishment, yet alone have been treated this way in a place where we are providing business. Although it's very minor, I have been bothered by this for the past few days. I went into the very same Ralphs tonight to buy a few groceries and immediately had flashbacks of this incident (which is when I decided to write this complaint.) I was looking out for Catherine H. to avoid her line but did not see her working, but did see the manager Ms. Jaleb. I avoided any sort of potential contact with Ms. Jaleb because I was completely uncomfortable and left the store as soon as I could. This has effected me in the most bizarre way, and I have never felt this way in my life at any business/store I have shopped at. Zack and I felt completely discriminated (Perhaps it might have something to do with the fact that we "college males in our mid 20's buying alcohol," which I'm sure Catherine H. and Ms. Jaleb have had problems with in the past but not with us personally). This is the first complaint I have ever written read more
