It is just weathered enough to have character without being quite run-down. It is clean, and the dining inside space is sort of timeless. The service counter on the dine-in side has a big busy menu above the window, but there is also a smaller version (tiny print) that you can hold close and make a choice. We both opted for the signature King Louie (single patty, hand formed, smashed), and fries. We also tried the onion rings as an appetizer someone else mentioned in a review. They were the frozen ones and had a real onion under the batter. My one complaint (a me problem) was the fries. They use the fresh potato with skin style. They almost never quite get to that level of crisp that I prefer. In this case they seemed to have pulled them even earlier (perhaps feeling rushed). The burgers were good, not fancy, but clearly made to order (this is not fast food). It's not a long wait, but I expect like many small businesses they run a skeleton crew as often as they can. We only saw the counter lady and the younger woman order runner for the drive ups. We would certainly stop by again if in the area.

I am a pepper freak, so I did add pepper to the gravy and on top of my eggs. I enjoyed a good of strong black coffee with my meal. For me, I it was a nice touch that they brought a glass of ice water without having to request it. The service was friendly and attentive. As I dined at the counter, I noticed that the servers greeted every guest as they entered the restaurant. They even said, good-bye as guest left the restaurant. The ambiance is simple, it is very plain Jane. So don't expect anything fancy. You're coming for hearty comfort food and that is what you'll get. It's made with Angus beef topped with Pepper Jack cheese, Grilled Balsamic Onions, Mild Banana Pepper Rings with a Sweet and Spicy Sauce, all served on a Onion Roll. It was served with a side of Fries. I was impressed by the size of the burger and that it was hand pressed. A hand pressed burger always tastes better to me. I requested that it be prepared medium rare and it was done perfectly. The fries were soft, I'd prefer mine a little crispier, but they were seasoned well. I got a giggle from their ketchup bottle, it said it was "Fancy". They have an impressive variety of beers. They offer draft, bottle and canned. I personally always go with one of the many craft beers they have on the menu. When dining alone, I always sit at the bar. The bartenders are typically female and are friendly. I am fan of hooks under a bar and Pump House takes it even a step further. They also offer, outlets. If your phone needs a charge and you've got a cord, you are set to go.
