Please whatever you do, go here and don't go anywhere else, CarStar Collision is worth the money! F.Y.I do not take your vehicle to Collision Center on McColl in McAllen. They will butcher your vehicle and make it look 100 times worse then before taking it there. Trust me on this, the reviews speak for itself! I took mine there before going to CarStar Collision and they did an AWFUL job with the repairs and paint work, they said the repairs were over 20,000 dollars and they made the vehicle look like they spent 100 dollars (that's how bad it was). Also, they take (what feels like years) forever to get the vehicle fixed. My vehicle was towed on April 17th and didn't get it back until the end of July and it was still messed up. After being disappointed and frustrated by Collision Center, I asked my insurance (State Farm) if I could get it redone and they said yes. This time I looked at reviews and did my research and CarStar Collision always came out as #1 for the RGV area in Texas. So I decided to take mine there and after getting it re-done, I was EXTREMELY SATISFIED with their work and how they treated me!

Their slogan is, "Relax, We'll take it from here." They don't let you relax and they make you take all the stress with you from there. My story: They scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks, accepted my car, had me sign papers to begin repair work, knowingly let me take out a rental, and then 2 days later called to say they would not be working on my vehicle - with no explanation given. Honda and Acura Owners: If you have a Honda or Acura and thought they would be good to work with - check again to see if they have updated Honda and Acura Certified Collision credentials - they don't. Do your due diligence and read all of the negative reviews (click negative near reviews). I am by far not the only unsatisfied customer. More details: 1. This review could have been 4 or 5-stars. I was decently satisfied the first time I visited - body work was okay (some issues with gaps), paint was well done (except for swirl marks) and customer service was decent. 2. I thought I finally found a decent repair shop in the Valley. I was going to be a repeat customer - something I thought they would value. I scheduled an appointment - waited 2 weeks and dropped off my vehicle. I provided a list of requests (attached an image to this review) which I felt was not demanding, and then left to get a rental car. 3. 2 days after dropping off my car, Arlene (an estimator) very rudely and unprofessionally calls to say that the OEM parts I requested are on backorder for MONTHS for another Honda vehicle and that it would be the same situation for my car. However, she did not bother to check on the specific parts for my car herself. Just wanting this repair to be completed, I did my best to find out. I called their distributor - Clark Knapp Honda - who said the wait for the parts needed for my vehicle would be 2 business DAYS max. 4. I called her and told her this to which she had no comment. Then she tells me that Progressive has been taking MONTHS to approve estimate supplement requests. Not trusting her, I called Progressive who transferred me to the RGV's local estimator. He said the delay was only 1 WEEK and that he contacted CarStar a day ago and was never told my vehicle was even there. 5. I contact Arlene again. She says that Mark Patterson (apparently some CarStar big shot) said they would not be repairing my vehicle with no other explanation. I then attempted to get ahold of Mark because I do not understand why they are giving me the run around and treating me so poorly. It has been almost a day - I know he will not reach out to explain why. 6. Tired of these antics, I decided to get my baby away from their slimy hands. If they are this shady towards me before beginning work, I can only imagine how they would treat my vehicle. Luckily, I found another body shop who has shown me respect, is actually on the Honda and Acura Certified Collision website and values all of their customers - even people who were initially unhappy updated their reviews with what the business did to remedy their situations. To say the least, this situation has been so unnecessarily stressful. I am so busy with my job and they seemed to just love giving me a hard time and wasting it while they were at it. The only logical explanation I can think of for this is greed. They want money. My car's $2000 repair was not cutting it for them. I understand this to an extent - but they should not make a customer suffer, wait for an appointment and accept their car for repairs if they are not happy with the money they'll receive. They should reject that customer and not waste said customer's time. I will say Cassandra & my car's inspector were great. Keep it up! However, Mark and Arlene had plenty of chances to apologize or figure out another way to get my car repaired. And yet both of them did nothing.

While we were there, we were checked on by several employees and offered water as a courtesy. One employee went above and beyond the call of duty. Her name is Nancy Hall. She was sweet and bubbly and remembered our names even though we rarely come here, (since we live in another city). She helped us every step of the way and was the epitome of patience. She wears many hats when necessary! And what is more, she stayed to help us a while longer even though she was off the clock and on her way to the rodeo! I asked why I had to bring so much extra money.She said for precautionary measures because she had a previous homeowner thatdid not know he had to pay taxes on his home. The story did not make any senseand she assured me that I would receive my money back. She knew that theproperty was going to be reassessed and dated back to January 1, 2023, even thoughthe property was raw land because she had the documents in her hands. I haveThere is no problem with the property being reassessed with a house on the propertymoving forward. Hilda had the mortgage and tax information prior to the closing taking place.Hilda was supposed to adjust the re-assessed back taxes, just as she did withthe prorated portion of the $500 taxes owed. She did not. Why wouldn't Hilda G.present Ariva Homes with the back taxes due in the closing document at theclosing table just as she did with the previous prorated portion? How many realestate closings, has Hida G. done? Is there anyone else who has had thisexperience and could not understand why they had to pay the reassessed backtaxes versus the builder? I paid prorated taxes on $500 which was due on raw land, then she had me toinclude an extra 11 months of reassessed value at the closing table. Hilda issaying something completely different than what she has typed in the documentsas I am aware of at this point. Four months later when I received no check inthe mail for overpayment, then I contacted her. Her answer was that she had noway of knowing, even though she asked me to place additional funds on thecashier's check and made me aware of Valley Title is not responsible for unpaidproperty tax according to the clause in the contract. Also, I was not gettingmy money back from Hidalgo County Property Tax Office and the tax office doesnot want to tax the home builders, but the reassessed back dated taxes are tobe paid by the new homeowner. Hilda G. attempted to lead me to believe that itwas Hidalgo County charging back taxes after we closed on the residence, and itwas quite the contrary. The purpose of hiring Valley Title Company is to make sure there are no taxesowed and liens on the property that will be incurred by the new homeowner. Otherwise,there is no need or benefit of hiring the title company to protect my interest. I advise anyone purchasing a new home structure in Hidalgo County to use a realestate attorney at the closing verses this type of title company using escrowofficers, as in my case. Additionally, the reputation of any title company andthe escrow officer should be researched and evaluated prior to doing business. This is such an egregious act that I am having it thoroughly investigated bythe State Bar of Texas, Texas Department of Insurance, Consumer FinancialProtection Bureau, Texas Real Estate Commission, and Financial CrimesEnforcement Network. Valley Land Title Company and the escrow officer Hilda G. warrant further investigation.
