Spikes Ford - Haul to AZ

Spikes Ford

The service department did an outstanding job of diagnosing the issue I had with my truck…read more However, I had to call a few times in the afternoon to get the status of my truck and all I could get was "We'll call you back" and "I'll have the service manager call you"...and things like that. I had to press the issue to get a status since I needed my truck and if I wasn't able to get it that day, I could make alternate arrangements for transportation. But I needed to know. Of course, when I did get the status, they were going to charge me $811 to fix the issue. Really? Yes, you can make the claim that your technicians are factory "certified" and you use factory diagnostics tools, etc. And any outside competent mechanic can do it as well and far cheaper. I get that. But $811 for replacing an ignition coil, 6 ignition coil boots, and all 6 spark plugs? I'm an engineer by degree and trade and I know exactly the amount of labor and effort it takes to replace the aforementioned items on my truck. It doesn't take an associates degree in auto mechanics or to be factory "certified" to do it. I ordered all the parts the same day at a total cost of $146, shipped. Do the math on the amount of labor charges the dealer wanted. They are not OEM parts but I can tell you this, OEM parts are made to meet MINIMUM specifications, not necessarily exceeed, and I know this for a fact as I have authority to set technical specifications in my industry. So yeah...I know. The aftermarket items I ordered have longer warranties then Motorcraft and a bit cheaper so that tells you something. Don't get me wrong, Spikes Ford has an outstanding service department and can get the job done well and actually are far better then the experience I had with Boggus (who misdiagnosed the problem a year ago and have misdiagnosed two other issues I had with my truck) and really far better than Hacienda who literally told me to make an appointment or they wouldn't tend to my truck. Seriously? Would I go back to Spikes for service? YES! But don't try to con an ex-con when telling me how much it will cost to replace or fix certain items and they certainly need to call me back when they say they will. I know things get busy but make it a habit to call people back when you say you will. Been there, done that...I know how those things work. So yeah...

I don't have concrete proof but it could not have been anyone else. Took our Jeep Liberty in for a wheel alignment and they asked to keep it over night because they needed to get more parts for it. After a few months of driving it and noticing the exhaust was louder than usual I finally checked underneath to see the cat converters were missing! They were cut out and replaced with hollow pipes! I went back to Jesse's to report what I found. The nervous salesman quickly denied it was them without even talking to their workers. I told him it couldn't have happened anywhere else and he said it was my word against his. I asked to talk to the manager who refused to come out until I said I wasn't leaving until he saw my Jeep. He was very defensive saying they were stolen somewhere else. I told him I bought the Jeep new and it had never spent the night anywhere else. And why would the thieves bother to measure, cut and weld in empty pipes to try to hide it? He got more rude and said I couldn't prove anything and to go away. They didn't even want to drive my vehicle off the lift and I had to do it myself. I immediately called McAllen PD and filed a report. I doubt anything will come of it though. It's sad that there are people like this think it's okay to steal from others, especially their own customers.

I'll start off by saying that the two stars were earned for the overall achieved look. I removed a…read morestar for the quality of work, another star for how the management handled the entire situation, and the final star for the length of time I was told I'd be without my vehicle compared to the time I was actually without it. Starting from the beginning, I took my car in to have wheels inspected for damage, I had three wheels damaged, and as of now, appear to have been fixed correctly. Upon fixing, existing powder coat couldn't be matched, so I decided to go with another color all together. Upon requesting the color, they showed me pictures of rims they just completed with same color, but two toned(inner lip different color) and asked if it could be done with mine, of which they said yes, and said it would take about 5-7 days. Of which we agreed on the time frame and I left the car. Trying to keep this short, 17 days later I go to pick up my car after being told that my car was ready. There was over spray from the face color all over the inside color of every single wheel, the center caps did not match the face whatsoever, and two of the wheels had install damage. Upon showing the rep, he took pictures to show management, so the car hadn't been quality checked by the rep or management, mind you, it's close to a 2000$ ticket for the paint and repairs. I was told they'd need til the end of the day to get it ready. Of which I said fine. Finally speaking with management on the phone later that day, he told me they wouldn't be able to get the overspray and damage to where I'd have a "100%" job, and the center caps wouldn't be matched "100%" to the rest of the wheel. Pretty much hopeless at this point, I wanted my car back after inconveniencing half my family for over two weeks. I agreed to what they could fix and the discount only if I was happy with over spray removal and touch up. Ended up with a 10% off powder coat labor only(4.9% or 70$) for the quality issue, not mentioning damage nor the fact it took 18 days to deliver a project that wouldn't be (100%) which the manager said himself several times. Photos will show quality and damage along with receipt to show discount. I was also told 40$ wheel check would be taken off, it wasn't. Overall, if you get a single color, and take the rims to them, and pick them up, doing most of the leg work yourself, you'd end up with a way better end result.
