Only get shade from trees outside the fence
    Jason A.

Raleigh Linear Dog Enclosure. If you put your kids in here I bet it can pass calling it a daycare too. 2 benches, a table but no sun protection. It's mostly astroturf with a couple of left-behind tennis balls lying around and a water fountain by the gate entrance. I outlasted a Pit and his owner and another after had two different-colored Collies come visit. Emi likes to greet and let alone so when she was done sniffing around she chilled next to me by one of their sorry excuses for tree shade. Go the human park across the street from Target instead.

Sunset or morning is best! NO shade midday in the hot months

This dog park is basic at best, but nice. I do appreciate having this park close by, but it certainly would NOT be a destination unless you were living close by or visiting someone who lives nearby. Nice solid fencing, secure double gates, a few benches, one picnic table and trash cans. Small to medium size, but enough room to run. There is only one play area, meaning no separate small / big dog areas. TIP; It is super hot midday in warm months as there is NO shade to speak of. The trees are super young. Also, there is NO poop bag dispenser, the parks division took it down so, please, bring bags and if you are feeling generous tie an extra bag or two to the fence for others who might be expecting a bag dispenser.

Don't come here, it's not worth the drive. It's extremely small and dirty. There's also no parking usually.

Raleigh Linear Green (RLG) is an approximate 5-acre park that's hidden away in deep south San José…read more Due to the (still under construction) surrounding housing development, RLG was built as a turnkey project to fulfill the requirements of the Parkland Dedication Ordinance (PDO), which states that a developer must provide 3-acres of parkland for every 1,000 anticipated residents. RLG is built on a PG&E easement, and is surrounded by huge transmission towers with active power lines looming overhead. This is also how it gets the "linear" moniker, which means that it's longer than it is wide. A good portion of this park (±50%) is dedicated to fenced off areas that are essentially gussied up drainage ditches for all the local outfalls. RLG lacks more than it has, but -as has become customary with my park reviews- here is a list: -x2 Full Basketball Courts -Pathetic fitness area -Decent little dog park located at the south end -Street parking on the westerly side of Raleigh Rd. -NO Playground -NO Picnic Tables or BBQ Pits -NO Restrooms -NO grassy fields for sports The only good thing about RLG is it's Dog Park, but why would you go here when there's a much nicer one (Miyuki) less than a mile away? This park has no redeeming qualities about it, and was obviously built to satisfy PDO requirements. Otherwise, it would never exist, and as far as I'm concerned--it doesn't.

We wanted to play as a family and keep on switching off. This was the park to do so. Park seems very relaxing and there were benches, big trees, playground that I noticed while walking on the path to the courts. Courts were pretty good, they were well taken care of, lines and courts look re-done recently. The nets had a little dip in the middle and looked a little uneven. Would definitely come back to play with the family or to play against other people.

The park is right next to the Hayes Mansion and it had a nice loop that served its purpose for me. The first loop around, it struck me as somewhat odd- there were seemingly random paths, wood fences, and different terrain. It all made sense to me when I saw a little bulletin board that talked about the park's past history as an amusement park called Frontier Village! Even though I had never visited Frontier Village, I could imagine how some of the park must have looked and could see a western theme in some of the leftover infrastructure. The park has some nice amenities- a large playground area, shaded areas to picnic, a basketball court, tennis courts, pickleball courts, not to mention the loop that goes around the perimeter of the park that is great for walking or jogging laps. However, large areas of the park seem like they are underused/undeveloped/somewhat neglected. I definitely think the city could find better use for some of the space here to develop and create a much better park. Also there were some strange characters hanging around the park, definitely not a place that I'd want to be when it gets dark.

If you live in South San Jose it's definitely worth a visit. One of the best features of this park is the abundance of very tall trees. They provide a ton of shade and make this park a very nice place even on hot days. For kids there are dedicated "big kid" and "little kid" playgrounds, both of which are large enough for long play sessions. There's also a ton of open grass for games. Additionally, there are decently clean bathrooms, a baseball field, and bbq facilities. It's a great place for an outdoor picnic or birthday. Parking is ok, it's all street parking and there's usually enough space. You should be aware that this is very deep in suburbia - there are no stores or anything else within walking distance. So make sure you have drinks and any needed food.
