I can't believe I am making this review. But after reading the horrific responses here from others…read morewho came to this hospital for help and were treated so inhumanely, I felt compelled to share my story. I was born at this hospital just over 58 years ago. I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy a couple of years after I was born. My father maintains the story that the birthing doctor that did the Caesarian Section was inebriated while performing the procedure. There were several complications during the birth. I was put back in repeatedly because the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck. But the procedure was botched on several levels. My father said I should have been put into an incubator / oxygen tent (born 2 - 3 weeks prematurely). But the doctor said that was not necessary and that I should be fine. No Lawsuit ever transpired as probably should have. My Health Care costs were over $700,000 growing up and continue today as related to my disability Shortly after birth, I was diagnosed as a spastic Cerebral Palsy quadriplegic severely affecting both legs and my right arm. I had 8 surgeries before the time I was 16 years old, including my last 4 at Duke University. It took years of Physical Therapy and Operations for me to finally walk and get out of a wheelchair and let go of leg braces and arm crutches. I have spent a life of fighting Cerebral Palsy only to walk with a noticeable limp 1 - 2 decades later. Today, I am back using arm crutches and deal with a myriad of health and physical complications related directly and indirectly to CP. My life has been pure drudgery and frustration that may have been directly related to the incompetence of the birthing doctor and staff. I imagine there are many, many more like me. But if you sue the Hospital / Doctor and receive any form of settlement, you sign an NDA stating that you will never talk about your personal experience or incompetence of Doctor / Staff / Hospital in any way. I / my parents never signed such a document. No settlement. No NDA. This is my TRUE and CORRECT Statement of my (and my parent's) experience with the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. While I cannot state with 100% certainty that this Hospital "caused" my Cerebral Palsy, we have no reason to believe that they should have not taken more precautions during and after my birth. My father maintained till his death that the Doctor, Staff and Hospital should have and could have done more. When I was finally properly diagnosed, there was little doubt that my Developmental Disability led back to the day(s) of my birth. Stay away from this Hospital. It appears it has not improved since I was born there in 1967!! How appalling!! Reading some of these reviews, you would have better Health Care given at an Auto Center served by a competent Certified Auto Mechanic!! Americans deserve better Health Care. There is NO EXCUSE for Overpriced / Unaffordable Health Care with under-served, abysmal, low-quality care in 2026!! After all of this time, with this many complaints and concerns, this Hospital should just shut down!! It appears to be far more of a Public Liability than a TRUE Health Care Facility!!

Does rounds at 4am so that family members aren't there to "bother" him and is impossibly difficult to communicate with. His bedside manner is poor. He truly only cares about making money. The poor nurses working with him know just how terrible he is and they are stuck dealing with upset patients that aren't getting proper care or communication. RUN from this place.

Worst experience I've ever had getting stitches! I initially went to their Beckley Crossing…read morelocation but was sent here because the doctor there just had lasix and they also had no tetanus shots? The doctor here was nearly blind himself, with the thickest glasses you could probably get, and he seemed to make the whole process more painful than the actual accident I had and then, did the worst stitch job I've ever had or seen. Made me regret even going at all. I should've used butterfly bandages instead. No insurance? $200 before they see you. Need pain medicine? Nope! Your finger could be falling off and all they'll give you is ibuprofen and get told some smart azz remark about you shoulda went to the emergency room then. The nurses were at least nice and gentle, but the doctor(Mr Magoo) was a jerk and definitely couldn't care one way or the other with his indifference! Then a snafu with their billing trying to charge me twice! Ready to get those stitches out? Oh, it's another $200(good thing I called before I went back)! I took them out myself. Go elsewhere like your life depends on it!

I went to med express at Beckley Crossing (by hobby lobby) there on Monday to get some relief of my…read moresymptoms and i thought i may have covid. I started feeling worn out on Friday and started symptoms Saturday. So friday to Saturday one day Saturday to Sunday two day Sunday to Monday when i was seen. Would make day 2.5 of symptoms! The nurse told me there isn't anything she could give me bc its viral (i thought to myself... make sense) i asked her are you sure bc my head is pounding. She said no and for me to take a daily vitamin for immune support and sent me home keep doing what i'm doing and i could go back to work Wednesday! I find out from a friend who is almost an RN that i should have been given Paxlovid! My mother n law... just today, poor thing, she now has covid and she was prescribed paxlovid. I have been suffering all week fever chills, aches, and pains i have a massive headache bc of all the mucus thats trapped in my covid sinuses. I call the clinic today as instructed if i have issues to get a prescription for something to give me some relief they told me to call the Harper Road clinic as they have a doc there and that the NP who saw me could help me out. I called in the am and then i called again at about 5 pm... twice! They didn't even have the decency to insure a physician called me back. I was told, 'if the provider has time'. my thoughts are if i'm telling you my symptoms are not going away like the NP and i'm doing as instructed, i should have gotten a call back. Actually, If they would have done their job in the first place 1. I wouldn't even be on day 6 still feeling like run-over covid stuffed fever aches pains chills garbage they would have prescribed be what they prescribed everyone else And they wouldn't have the need to call me back. I have a husband, 2 kids 5th grade they ride the bus, 2 dogs, my own full time job plus i'm still in the military. I dont have time to take a knee and just deal with this. I should have been given the same treatment as everyone else with covid! I'm a licensed laboratory technologist, i know what mal practice is! This is it in its most simplest form! ... Even the VA is t this bad, slow but they would have made sure i would have had every thing i needed!! I thought i would pay out of pocket to get better and a bit faster than VA emergency room. This is what i get... Vitals taken 1 covid test A listen to my heart and lungs. Go home take a daily vitamin for my immunity and go back to work Wednesday. Now i find out that i could have had something to give me relief!?? Days ago?!? I see how much my money is worth for Med Express and how caring their NP are about their patients. I could have gone to lab core paid 40 bucks and gotten a covid test. I went to a clinic so i could get treated and seen by a professional, not sent on my way to cope on my own with OTC garbage. I will be calling the clinic back tomorrow to speak to the manager or lead doctor and if i have to the owner of this facility! I want my bill zeroed out I will not be paying it! I will NEVER go back! I will gladly go to the VA! If i could give this review a zero I would!

Mainly it is used for credit purposes so they can hunt you down and report you to the credit bureau if you do not pay. I was paying ahead of time. No one and I mean NO ONE should EVER give their SSN to doctors or hospitals unless you want your personal information stolen. There have been major hacks of healthcare databases. https://www.healthcareitnews.com/projects/biggest-healthcare-data-breaches-2018-so-far You are not legally required to give them this information, and there was no good reason given for needing my SSN. The young and very cocky man behind the window gave the lamest reason that "We need to put something into the system" and that I wouldn't be seen unless I give them my SSN.. Hey moron, how about typing in 000-00-0000?? " This only showed me what their primary interest is in. Glad I didn't waste any money or anything regarding my health there. Just to let you know, I have NEVER had an issue from a doctor's office or hospital about refusing to give my number. Til now. I would avoid unless you prefer drinking the kool-aid like the rest of them and have a doctor who doesn't respect your privacy issues..
