Tale of Spice - Chicken Tikka Balti Exotica

Really is as good as it gets!…read more Family meals here always go down well and we have visited at least twice in the last two months. The selection is amazing and my favourites include the Sizzling Seafood Balti and the Chicken Madras but I'm intent on working my way through the menu. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the servers are extremely polite and helpful. One of our party has special dietary requirements and they couldn't do enough to help us and make sure our needs were catered to. Worth booking at weekends as it does get very busy, especially as it's near the cinema but you'd probably be fine walking in during the week.

There was a very select few to choose from but the winner hands down was Tale Of Spice in Dundonald!! It won hands down on a number of scores. First it has ample free car parking. Second it is owned and run by a fantastic all Indian team from kitchen (Chef Gautam) to Front of House (Abhishek and Sunil). Third the food is as authentic as if one was sitting and eating it in any Northern Indian restaurant. The decour is modern contemporary with a subtle Indian touch. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable and chef himself a real expert. I asked him to make three dishes (two chicken and one lamb). He duly obliged but not before we tucked into fresh crispy popadoms with tasty dips-so many restaurants fall foul of serving oily soggy popadoms- a real turn off! Our three mains came out with two pilau rice, a nan and garlic nan. The butter chicken was creamy and tomatoey with no artificial colouring-and not overtly sweet. The Karahi gosht was divine with the lamb being tender, juicy and succulent. The chicken tikka saag was excellent-all three dishes garnished well with ginger juliennes and parsley and coriander.....just like one gets in Punjab. Alas the portions beat us quantity wise. This really is as authentic North Indian as you will get. A must visit place.

Don't ever go here! Seriously…read more My housemates and I wanted a relaxing evening in after a night out and decided to order an Indian takeaway from this place. We ordered online using the Just Eat service. After an hour, we hadn't heard anything so we gave them a ring. They were really rude on the phone and kept asking what our house number was. They told us us our food was on it's way and would be 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we rang again and they told us that they were just cooking the food and they would send it round soon. After telling them this wasn't good enough, my friend demanded a refund to her credit card. The guy from Jasmine restaurant was sooooo rude, raising his voice and arguing with Sarah, she stood her ground and got the refund. He kept saying that he would deliver the food in twenty minutes. We were all really pissed off that the guy's attitude was so argumentative, when he should have been apologizing profusely. He kept agitating Sarah by saying that they would call to the door with the food. She literally had to shout at him saying 'No, we don't want it.' All in all we were waiting over an hour and a half. This place doesn't come cheap either, we were paying £43 for three meals and naan breads. All in all a ridiculous experience, rude staff and horrendous service. Avoid at all costs.

This restaurant is not very old, it has only been in business for a couple of years and I have to say that I was very impressed when I first went in but I wasn't completely won over by the food. I love my typical english indian dishes, for example a chicken kormas or a chicken tikka massala but Jasmines versions of these dishes were not that great in my opinion, they weren't bad but just not top notch!! Judge it for yourself but I'm not sure if I'll be back in a hurry.

Herself and her boyfriend eat there the occasional weekend and it's their fave take-away in the area. They always have their food ready to pick up pretty quickly and they've had no complaints about the staff either. A glance at the menu shows a starter is on average £2.50, kebabs and their vegetarian counterparts are under 5 quid and main courses are £6.95. Elsewhere on the menu there is a choice of tandoori dishes, chefs recommendations, masala dishes, curry dishes and some highly recommendable veggie sides. I recently had Saag Paneer instead of a main course when out for a friends birthday, it was delicious and perfect if you have small appetite. It consists of spinach cooked with onions and garlic and cubes of curd cheese. I'm sure I'll be sampling Taj Mahals version soon. There is ample parking outside which is very handy for visitors. Taj Mahal also offer a delivery service for orders over £10.

They are a really friendly staff that have good chat that remember you. Their indian curries are really great in taste and are perfect for a take away and they are such a bargain. I can't really understand why someone would pay £10 or more at an indian restaurant takeaway service when places like this exist. Such good value because I think you would pay £5/£6 for the equivalent dish. Their portions are huge and will have you belt busting before you know it.
