I recently signed my 12 yr old son up for the Winter Sewing Camp offered by Raintree. My son was apprehensive to go, but quickly changed his tune once he saw a list projects the students would be making. They created 4 items within the short week, and he was very proud of his work. The instructor Jodie brought in was very knowledgeable, patient, and caring. On the last day of class, all students were able to show off their completed projects to their family. While being proud of their own accomplishments, I noticed several students introducing their families to the instructor and thanking her wholeheartedly for the past week. I even saw tears being shed by some students, and yes my son was one of them. I highly recommend this business, and any class/course Jodie has to offer. The service & quality was truly exceptional and Jodie's team is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. What a wonderful shop! It's better than most fabric stores I visit both in Anchorage and out of state. Owner is very knowledgeable. She's even created a kuspuk pattern you can buy at the store. There's tons of different options for notions, fabrics and that elusive serger thread. Best of all, she carries a full line of Bernina sewing machines and supplies. My favorite! Customer service is non existent. This is the second time I've gone in this store, a year apart, without being acknowledged until I was leaving! This is my happy place. With the new owner Jodi Buck running the shop, you will not want to ever leave the place. She is so warm and welcoming. A great shop! I've taken a couple of classes from Jodi, the owner. she came to our small town of Tenakee and taught a group of us how to make kuspuks from her pattern. She even brought out fabric choices for some of the class participants. She is a very skilled and patient instructor. We had fun learning and came out of the class with beautiful garments. I've also taken a by Annie bag making class with Jodi. I had already made a couple of the bags on my own, but it was great to get some tips and tools from Jodi that made the process even easier and more enjoyable. I do not live in Juneau, so I buy most of my Raintree fabrics online. Jodi's website is very easy to use. If you do have questions, you can call the shop and get them answered by a helpful, knowledgeable person. I think every time I have placed an online order it gets mailed to me that day. I always try to stop by the shop in person when I do get to town. It is a very fun place to visit. So many lovely fabrics, patterns and project ideas. I have also bought two sewing machines from the shop. Both of the machines were trade-ins that were like new. I have sewn many projects using these machines and have never had a problem with them. read more

Took my machine in for service repair to address a specific issue. At the front desk, they tried to impose a cleaning and oiling service of $120+ $50/hr tech fee, stating it was mandatory when servicing a machine which, it was not. The owner, Jodi, was condescending, to put it mildly. In the end, they charged a $70 servicing fee and never fixed the issue with the machine. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more
