I really enjoyed this stop for our toddler while we were in the area on vacation! It was the right size to not be overwhelming and wasn't overly crowded, so he enjoyed walking around inside to see the amazing birds, reptiles, and other animals. We especially liked the outdoor area to feed the goats and llamas, it was his first time trying that activity and he had such a blast. Came here with the kids and the girls.. we paid to hold a sloth.. but we did not get to... they messed up our reservation day and I clearly showed them my email showed this day was the right day.. but they did not let us. We've been taking the family on yearly Gatlinburg trips ever since we eloped there almost 25 years ago. I do not know how this place got by us in the past. This was our second time here. We came in 2019 but were only able to stay for about an hour. We watched the animal show they put on and the guy was hilarious. We absolutely loved this place. The animals were fun and well cared for. Loved the gift shop - one of the cheaper ones in the area. They have some amazing fossils for sale there. While on vacation, my husband and I decided to take our 6 year old daughter here. We went early in the morning to avoid big crowds. Most of the animals are located indoors because they are tropical animals. There's goats, sheep, monkeys and a few birds outdoors. It's not a big zoo but there's plenty of different animals to see and read up on. This establishment does practice pandemic regulations. Our visit was around 10am and we were all done in about an hour and a half. The gift shop has lots of great items and I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable it was considering the prices I've seen at other zoos gift shops. But I think the ticket entry should've been more affordable considering the size of the zoo. Paid $60 for three adults and 1 kid. It was a nice visit for the little one but not the older kids. This is similar to a reptile or primate house at a regular zoo, they just have small exotic animals. It smells like those enclosed areas do so nothing we weren't expecting. I would equate this to going somewhere like that. My daughter loved it and it was enough to keep me entertained as well. The main reason for going was to see the Axolotl's and they didn't disappoint. I found this place on Groupon and I'm glad I did. We have a 3&5yo and they loved seeing the lemurs and monkeys jumping from tree to the wall, etc. It's all indoors so you don't have to worry about rain and there is air conditioning if it is a hot day. There are a few nocturnal animals I had to explain to the girls that they sleep during the day and are awake at night which was actually nice to show the difference between nocturnal and diurnal. Obviously with animals it is difficult to pick the perfect time to visit but there were tons moving around and eating, jumping and active when we arrive around 10am and throughout our stay. The girls loved seeing all the different animals. They especially loved feeding the baby goats and big sheep in the back and the cute baby monkey. read more

Off the main road, this little zoo is a good spot for adults and children. First, it is wheelchair accessible and second it's inside. There are lots of reptiles, marsupials, mammals, and birds from America, Africa and Central and South America. You can try to pet the Guinea Pigs, but likely won't catch one. Upon entering, purchase a bag of food and outside there are sheep, emu, and goats ready to gorge upon the pellets placed in your open palm. There are tortoises and a monkey too. In my opinion, some of the spaces seem a bit small for the animals and that was difficult for me to reconcile... but I also believe part of the mission here is to preserve species. The staff are friendly and seem connected to that mission. There is a gift shop with some very nice items from around the globe. In all, this is a good place to get away from the outlets and parks and learn something intriguing. read more

It was raining so we decided to see this mostly indoor animal/zoo attraction. A lot of familiar and exotic animals! The displays really showcased the animals well. The animals all seemed heathy and well cared for. Some animals I had not seen before and kids really enjoyed the experience. It was interesting to see the staff prepare the food for the animals. We had the best visit here! We have four children under age 6 and they all had a great time. Most of the attractions are indoor exhibits are behind glass. The animals were mostly active. And with the large variety, there was something to see at every turn. We ran in to the owner who told us all about porcupines. And later helped us when we were feeding sheep. The gift shop is really nice too with a great assortment of stuffed animals, candies/treats, Christmas ornaments and more. We've been to our fair share of these types of places. The concept of an indoor zoo to showcase small and exotic animals is just a great idea. We visited on a rainy day and was surprised at how clean and healthy the animals looked. Lots of monkeys, reptiles and birds (and even porcupines). The highlight was the ability to feed the goats and sheep. My wife and daughter have always wanted to do this. It's $3 for a bag of food but well worth it. It does have a strong smell but it's an indoor zoo. I would expect nothing less. This will be a routine visit when we travel to Pigeon Forge. read more

This place is a great place to visit with children. It has many interesting animals for them to view and I also like that staff members sometimes go around the building with an animal for the kids to pet. They were very knowledgeable about the animals they were holding. My son got to hold a Ball Python and both boys got to pet a Hedgehog. They had a good variety of animals (see photos) for their building. It was great to see that some of the animals were actually reproducing which means that they aren't very stressed in their environment (my theory). They even had some outdoor animals you can feed. I had read some reviews on this place on TripAdvisor and I was hesitant about visiting, but I am so glad we did. We absolutely loved this place! Our group was two adults and two children (ages eleven and twelve). We are huge animal lovers, so we always try to visit any zoos or other animal attractions while on vacation. There were several different types of monkeys, lizards, snakes, goats, mice, rats, and birds, along with a number of other animals. The goats, sheep, and some type of tall bird (I don't remember its name) were outside where we could feed and pet them. My son also pointed out that one of the goats looked like Donald Trump (see the picture), and we all got a good laugh. Inside there was a member of the staff allowing people to pet a hedgehog and hold a snake. Unfortunately, I had gone to the restroom and missed the hedgehog petting, but I did hold the snake. None of the rest of our group wanted anything to do with it. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were available to answer our questions and to point out animals we definitely did not want to miss. The gift shop at the end was also very nice. This attraction is actually in Sevierville, but it is only minutes from Pigeon Forge. It is beside the movie theater at Stop Light 13.4 in front of the Wal-Mart in Sevierville. Parking is free. Prices are very affordable and well worth it. Adult (ages 13-54) admission is $12.99, child (ages 3-12) admission is $7.99, seniors (55+) are $10.99, and those under age 3 are free. Discounts are available for groups of ten or more. They are open year around (except Christmas), although that may be adjusted due to the COVID pandemic. I recommend calling ahead to make sure before you waste a trip. You can purchase tickets online or at the zoo. We found a coupon for $1 off each person in a coupon book at the Pigeon Forge Welcome Center. If you are visiting the area and love animals or are just looking for something fun and entertaining to do, I highly recommend checking out the Rainforest Adventures Zoo. The enclosures were so small none of them had really any room to move or anything. The poor goats and sheep outside were way over populated with no room no grass to eat or anything, just asphalt. High disappointed, the first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell. Now I understand that reptile houses don't smell the nicest, but this was bad. The second thing I noticed was their axolotles for sale in small dollar store shoe boxes, it doesn't look like they're taken out of those boxes until they're sold. The animals themselves were not well cared for, and the enclosures were not big enough for their larger snakes and monitor lizards. While the kids truly enjoyed themselves, it was extremely depressing to see how anxious and depressed these animals were and I wish I'd never seen it. read more
