I brought my Toyota Tundra here to have a new exhaust put on it. A month later I had to have my truck towed to a mechanic shook because my brakes went out on the interstate. You wouldn't think that has anything to do with a muffler shop, however after a look under the truck the mechanic told me that my break line was left touching the exhaust and it melted to the point where my entire break fluid leaked out all at once. So now I'm having to pay almost $500 to fix something that wouldn't be need to be fixed otherwise. I don't even need to list all of the reason why this is not okay. My child was in the car with me when it happened and it was very scary especially considering I was on the highway and not just a regular road. I would highly recommend reconsidering bringing your vehicle here. My mechanic said that there's no way if someone (manager, supervisor, owner, etc.) looked over or inspected this work that they wouldn't have seen that. It's very disappointing and needless to say I won't be going back here or recommending this place to anyone. read more

They have new owners recently. I had my front pads,drivers side rotor & caliper replaced in 1 1/2 hours on Valentines day(10am). The price was a good value at $220. They were nice and efficient and I recommend bringing your car/truck to Rainbow Muffler in Largo. read more

He wasn't able to do all the work on my car due to horrible rust issues but did everything he could recommend a new shop and the work he did do was free. Just as in the previously mentioned posts I had a slight mechanical issue (Brake Light was on) brought my car in, Paul checked the breaks, found out that I had a faulty sensor took all of about 3 mins to fix and didn't cost me a dime!! I would highly recommend Rainbow Muffler!! As an update to my review was driving to California had my oil changed for $14.95 and Paul threw in a full pre trip inspection and topped off all my fluids for NO EXTRA CHARGE! Wish I could give this place 6 stars!! And an extra star for when I blew a tire he said they don't do tire fixes at his shop but he called a buddy of his who worked at a place about 2 blocks away on East Bay and had my tire changed and rotated for about $30! read more

Recently went in for a 2018 Challenger Mid-Muffler / Resonator delete and everything turned out perfect. They ended up having to add / bend new pipes due to not being able to weld & cut anything seeing the car is leased. Overall, my experience was perfect and the job was very quick. If you do need any work done, make sure to get there early as possible seeing it's first come first serve. Mike was the mechanic, and did an outstanding job on the entire swap and I appreciate everything from him as well as TJ and his wife (couldn't remember her name). If you have 400.00 TO SPEND ON A THERMOSTAT then this is the place for you.My car was overheating & I had a new water pump,I told the Mechanic I was pretty sure it was the Thermostat,he said his portable thermometor said the car wasn't over heating & my temerature Gauge was defective,Said he drove the car around & it didn't overheat,so 2 days,$ 300.00 later the electronic part arrives,they put it on & still overheats,he said he would refer me to a computer specialist,so I Left car overheated 1/2 mile down the road,took it to another Mechanic & Got a thermostat for 150.00 at least it was fixed.could have done myself for $12. read more

Be very careful with this place!! We went here and the first couple of times for simple stuff was good. But the two other times it was a complete nightmare! They held our car hostage for 3 weeks!! I was stupid and sent my daughter there and they did the same thing. Any time the issue was with the engine there was a problem. They ordered the wrong part, then three days later the were sent the wrong part. Then they were sent another wrong part. 3 weeks later it still wasn't done. Twice we had our car towed out and someone else finished the job. The last time the problem wasn't even what they said!! I wanted to give them chances, they are nice, or seem that way. Then they choose not to work on your car for weeks at a time. Just get a second opinion. If you want a good place and let me know! I found a great guy who also is reasonable and gets your car done almost always same day! read more

As an elderly, disabled woman, I am very accustomed to mechanics trying to take advantage of me. Paul, the owner of this place was so nice, professional and courteous. He did not charge for any diagnostic stuff. His rule is to diagnose it, tell you the options and let you make the decision of what you can afford and when. This was the most reasonably priced place around. I wanted to wait a while before I made the review just to be sure everything was good. My boyfriend got the catalytic convertor fixed here on his VW Touareg. Anywhere we checked would be ridiculously priced to get fixed so we purchased the part online and asked if they would install which they did. We got it fixed maybe 2/3 months ago now and everything has been perfect. I highly recommend this place if you need to get work done. Very friendly and helpful. read more

I called several times to talk about getting dual exhaust on my truck. I spoke to Bri most times and Paul. I was having a difficult time deciding to go with Toyota cat back system, magnaflow, or flow master. I researched and researched etc. I was concerned about warranties back pressure loss of torque, horsepower, etc. After many hours of research there is an after market brand exhaust made in California, that a guy makes for Tundras. But after emails to them, an exhaust system would have been more than Toyota's TRD system, approx $1300. I have put magnaflow on past vehicles at this same shop, but it was different owner at the time. Even at that time, I was very pleased with the ease of dealing with everyone there. I was also happy with magnaflow muffler system. So now, I decided to go up there and spoke with Paul in person. I decided to go with magnaflow and double wall black chrome tips Paul recommended cause I wanted a lower growl tone. I made an appointment and had the dual exhaust put on but I was told they were still waiting for the exhaust tips. I talked to Bri and Paul at different times and they kept checking on the order for the tips. Finally, Paul calls me and says the company who makes the tips are changing tip sizes which should be ready in February or March. Paul sounded frustrated that the company did this to him, Paul even had the magazine to show me the tips in office. So why would that company do that, send out info on something they don't have. Paul made it right and said to come in and we will put what tips I decided for now and when the double wall comes out next year, come back and we will replace them out, "no charge." So I now have tips, that look awesome, but can't wait for the double wall sound. I'm glad to be dealing with a business that believes in customer service. I've heard bad things about the one on 38 AV but recently heard it's better at that one now. I will never know though cause I will continue my business with Paul at the one on belcher and east bay. I will update this when the double wall tips are on in February or March. Once all promises are kept I will update to 5 stars. Also, Nate is the exhaust/welder tech and was very personable. But what do you expect from fellow fisherman, Bucs and Gator fans! Paul, Bri, and Nate, thank you very much! See ya soon. UPDATE Ok, so I started making contact with Bri and Paul again sometime in February thru March. Apparently, there's not much selection for the tips I wanted on my truck. The ones Paul described were discontinued and he was having a difficult time finding the right tips. I even tried to help by looking online and I couldn't find any I liked in black. So then, they get the 18" stainless double wall (everything I wanted except in black). Paul suggested getting them painted and I suggested powder coating. Today 5/20, I had them installed and they were worth the wait. Although it took along time to get them, they make the sound so much more mellow. My only suggestion if this happens to you is to contact them every so often to touch base. Paul and his shop are always busy with few appointments in the same week. I own a 2000 Toyota Corolla, and I had been driving with the Check Engine light on for five months. Given the fact that I finally got a break from school as well as work, I took the time out to order the Upstream Oxygen Sensor of which the car was in desperate need. On Friday, December 16, 2016, I made the decision to be bold and change the O2 sensor on my own; did a fair job in getting that done. Then, when I started driving the car I realized that it had a sound like an Exhaust Leak. However, after checking an auto store the top mechanic referred me to Rainbow Mufflers. All-in-all, I set up an appointment on the same day [December 16, 2016], and I went in on Saturday, December 17, 2016. The mechanic who was appointed inspected my car and acknowledged the problem as having been an improperly seated Oxygen Sensor, mainly because metals can only be tightened so much. So, he put two washers on the bolts, retightened the Oxygen Sensor, and voilà, the problem was solved. Ultimately, I had a "Rainbow" experience, indeed, and to add to that, one of the mechanics suggested that I simply tip the one who did the work, seeing as how I really did not have a major problem. A friend of ours recommended Rainbow Muffler to us. After a couple of times in another shop and a huge bill, we were told that we needed a catalytic converter. I was so surprised to see a smiling face and the knowledge and understanding of what had just happened to our car. Being fairly new to this area i consulted Yelp to help me find a reasonably priced, and relatively honest auto repair shop. that's no small order to achieve. Luck smiled on me when after reading their reviews, i decided to bring my car to RAINBOW MUFFLER to address a clanging noise issue coming from some undetermined place in my car. I had to this point, looked both under the hood, and underneath the car, as best i could, but saw nothing to explain where the noise originated. PAUL, the shops manager listened to my story and thought it could be my catolitic converter, but needed his muffler guy TIm, to get it on the lift and check everything out. At this point, I was expecting the converter to be the issue, and even thinking that if it was going to be solved by replacing the converter, for somewhere between $250.00 and $300.00, that wouldn't be such a terrible solution. After about thirty minutes, PAUL appeared and informed me that my problem had been attended to by TIM, and there wouldn't be any charge. Apparently, somehow a pipe underneath my car had become dislodged, probably from a pothole, that affected the cars balance and that they had managed to bend it back to it's proper position thereby stopping that clanging noise. After getting that great news and hearing no charge, i decided to get a well needed oil change. The charge for that was only $15.93. I couldn't believe all this! These guys are as HONEST as the day is long,and are very nice and personable to boot! I felt extremely comfortable and confident at this establishment, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM to everyone needing their car serviced! read more

I was driving to Tampa with my son and the noise started. It was vErY loud ... VeRy quickly! I was driving around sounding like I had a muscle truck and I knew I was going to have a costly repair job. Well, I have been very lucky with my 16 year old truck and have not had but a couple of things done other than oil changes, etc. I used to go to Gary and Mike's Auto Repair for years when we lived in Dunedin so a call to them seemed right. But ... guess what? They don't do mufflers! They recommended me to go down to Rainbow Mufflers on Belcher and East Bay. Oh my gosh ... we had moved in the opposite direction ... way up to Ridgemoor in East Lake! I started calling around close to where we live and the prices were VeRy high for the muffler to fit my Ford Excursion with a V10. My last call was to the Goodyear in Tarpon which was on North US19. Where do you think they recommended?? Rainbow! I said to the guy that they were so far away. His response ... "Rainbow is honest, they do good work and they will have the best prices!! And that is where I would go for my car." That was the same thing that GARY had said! So you guessed it ... Rainbow it was! Now for Rainbow's quote for a price for a muffler ... it was almost $200 LeSs than up here! I am so glad that I did go to an HoNeSt place of business because it wasn't the muffler! It was a split in the pipe going iNtO the muffler. Well, I am single and do not know anything about mufflers except if you don't have one ... you are driving with a VeRy LoUd vehicle!! Now instead of telling me that it was the pipe AnD the muffler ... which they could have and I would not have known the difference ... they said that it was just the pipe and a split in it would be noisy, too. Paul and his staff took care of my truck and me in a honest way with a great price, fast service, and they had clean surroundings!
