The rooms are very quiet, clean and scent free. The beds were firm but very comfortable. There's a nice pool that's well maintained and kept at a usable temperature. The staff was extremely nice and very efficient. The continental breakfast was a step above average. The dining area was clean and the selection of food was just right. I like that they had some great additions for children, and really aren't we all children at heart? There was a waffle making machine/station which my wife used with the help of the lady who was supervising, cleaning and restocking the area. They had a nice selection of breads and bagels with a toaster. There was also some biscuits and gray with sausage crumbles that you could add if you like. My favorite was the scrambled eggs with smoked kielbasa's on the side. There were little single serve peanut butter and jelly containers as well as butter. There was a refrigerator with fruit yogurt, milk, packages with two hard boiled eggs and for the children there was a fruit cup, apple sauce cup, Brekkies (a soft chocolate chip, oat and flax) cookie and last but not least Uncrustables. There was also single serve cereal containers ranging from mini-wheats to fruit loops. 24 hour coffee service was always spot on. All in all we had a very nice stay at a warm and friendly Inn.

I've been to the Palmer House a few times before, but I went again this past October. I took a…read morespirit hunting tour of the basement again, but this time, the tour guide was terrible! They were 40 minutes late even starting - getting people signed in, which they really need to consider doing in the 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time since everyone was there waiting... Then she sat on the bar with her Halloween leggings (it was gross) and pretty much said nothing important or useful for another 30 minutes. When we FINALLY got in the basement, she didn't even have batteries in the equipment, which she blamed on her grandson... It's not his job to check equipment before a tour people are paying $50 a pop for! The tour was also WAY too big (about 30 people with one guide). She sat on one side of the room and talked fairly quietly so our side of the room couldn't hear her the whole time. Twice people asked her to speak up, but she basically ignored them. One man was left alone in a room for so long, that he got angry and asked to be let upstairs because "he could sit alone in the dark in his friends' basement for as long as he wanted for free." Then, after he left, she made fun of him and called him "Mr. Grumpy" like 3 times. It was the most unprofessional situation of any of my trips there. I agreed with him too - the guide was not even trying to engage with spirits. She asked them maybe 7 questions and was quite (or whispering with the few people around her - which none of us could hear). There was no real effort on her part. This woman, who dressed like a slob even, should not be part of this tour. She was even a rude bartender. She should not be working here - the spirits even hid from her! For what my friends and I paid, it needed to be run way more professional. (Other times there was equipment for us to play with, there were guides that had the correct attitude, they didn't leave people in dark rooms on their own without flashlights to get out for so long, they interacted with the people and the spirits, they actually liked people, knew what they were doing and talking about, and wanted to be there!) Again, prior tours were so much better than this recent one last month, so my review is about this employee, not the hotel itself; but she really did ruin the experience for many of us - who I chatted with afterwards. I don't know her name, but hopefully Kelly can figure this one out. She, with her negative attitude, needs to go! I've taken a few weeks to reconsider even posting this, and, well, I'm still angry, so here it is... The rest of the staff were pleasant and accommodating, like usual.
