Today was a regularly scheduled trash pick up day. Unfortunately I was running a bit late. I heard the recycling truck and immediately jumped from my morning coffee because I forgot to take out the trash cans the night before. The driver noticed I was I was moving my bin thru the side gate and he could have skipped me and it would be my fault no issues and no complaints. The gentleman driving was a black man who looked me in the eyes and saw I was struggling and waited 15 seconds for me to place my bin at the appropriate location. This place is one of 4 hazardous waste drop-off sites in OC. E.g. for old paint, chemicals, cleaners, etc. My review is only for Rainbow in that capacity. Dropping of your household haz waste is pretty easy and simple: load it up in the trunk of your car, drive up to the haz waste drop-off point, and the guys working there will pull it all out and take it away. You don't even get out of your vehicle. Quick and efficient, even if there a few cars ahead of you in line, you'll only be waiting 5 minutes. Do make sure you go to Gate 6 Hazardous Materials. There are several gates as you drive down Nichols street, so be sure you turn in to Gate 6. Do NOT turn in to gate 4 marked "public dumping" like I did on my first time, and get lost driving around. :) read more

Rainbow Envir. Svcs was purchased by Republic Services, a mega trash company. Since Republic took over, our company (which owns 3 shopping centers in Huntington Beach and 1 industrial center in HB) has had nothing but problems. During the recent strike, they refused to give credit for no service. Calling customer service (in another state) provided me with false information. I put in (opened up) a dispute ticket which NO ONE ever bothered to follow up. I finally had to call City public works and ask for help there. They directed me to a manager and the issue is STILL being resolved. WORST trash company ever. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! Union strike outside the gates. They charge a rate of 92.00 A ton plus a new 5.00 "Enviromental fee" now that's up to 2000 pounds. But if you're under that there is no adjustment. It used to be 25.00 to dump here. On top of that they have you now dumping inside a muddy building. All the smells and toxic gases. I will never come back to this place. And as a contractor I suggest you don't either. Go to Brea olinda. It's 25.00. Outside. Beautiful view. Screw this place. read more

We just moved and I put a mattress out next to dumpster and called and paid for pickup. It's 2 weeks after pick up date and my neighbor let me know it's still there. The phone number on my bank account withdrawal goes to some kind of Walmart gift card scam. Then I call the 800 number and after 20 minutes of explaining and the lady looking everything up the call was disconnected!! I paid for no service and trying to call them to get help was useless! Ordered a dumpster for next day delivery, but they made mistake, and canceled the order. Next day morning I called for ETA, and realized order is canceled because of their mistake !!! They forgot to add $185 initial amount to the original price ($500). For that reason they canceled my order without notifying me. That day I had guys at job site waiting for dumpster. I talked with several supervisors, and they promised they will work on it, and will calling me back; which never happened. In the afternoon, after several calls, they told me they will not delivery till tomorrow, and I have to pay for my labors standing whole day at job site !!! Yeah, I see a lot of bad reviews and it sounds like the dump prices are high but I just want to say a lot of the workers there are just awesome! When I lived in the mountains the snow would come and the snow plow would just blow by and create a big burm and you would have a lot more work to try and shovel your way out to drive your car. I've seen the neighbors trash all in the street over here because the rain flooded the curb so high that the cans would fall over. Well the trash truck came around the corner and stopped and the guy got out and gathered all of the trash for the neighbor and disposed of it. In the mountains they would just laugh at you as they made your day a little worse. These guys get my vote for being some really awesome people. At least the workers do! read more

This company hit a parked limousine that belongs to a United States Army veteran and refuses to pay for the repairs. There is clear as day camera footage that demonstrates the trash truck completely drive into the limo, and then jump the curb. In addition, this limousine is essential to how he pays for his meals, puts food on the table, and even volunteers to feed the elderly. Rainbow Environmental Services would rather damage their own reputation and cause financial and emotional stress on a veteran than to fix the issue. read more

As an HB resident for 14 years, I have gotten used to certain city services. I'm not sure what other cities offer as a comparison, but I know decent service when I see it. Here in HB, we use Rainbow for trash pickup and they have always provided excellent service. They even offer no charge "large item" pickup for items that don't fit in a traditional can like sofas and refrigerators. This particular location offers another really cool service. The toxic waste area is a supe convenient drive through service for dropping off old computers, cans of paint, and type of electronic or hazardous waste. Drivers are not even permitted to leave their car. You simply drive up, pop your trunk and and a courteous employee, decked out in a "bunny suit" takes your trash and deposits it in the appropriate bin. They even hand out these 1 gallon size buckets with lids to hold your discarded batteries. They empty these out and you have a fresh empty one for a few more months. I get to be super lazy but also do a good service for the environment. read more

I usually drop off hazmat and they have always been quick and courteous. Those that complain about being dirty smelly or anything else should remember they are at a dump. As far as costs dump fees are very high pretty much everywhere locally your paying for convenience and they are more of a sort and transfer facility, ie they ship it out again. read more

Do not bother going unless you have an 18 wheeler full of garbage. They ask for $100 deposit just to look at your staff then minimum charge is $80 for ANYTHING. Different story I got from the phone answering service: there should be a minimum charge of $20 or a charge by the ton, starting at $80. I informed the person at the phone about the "discrepancy". Luckily she informed me that I was entitled to 4 pickups per year directly from home, which I scheduled promptly. As I said I will not bother using this place despite the significant monthly fee. read more

I called for pricing on to dump some green waste before I headed over, just a ballpark to see what it would be like. The gentleman I spoke to couldn't give me a rough estimate. Not even a range of their price to see what I was looking at spending. Said it depended on the weight and size of the load. But no dollar range/price. This place is close to home so I ended up driving a few miles out to Stanton and dumped there. I was trying to get something closer but the gentleman who sounded heavily drugged up, couldn't perform a simple task. We have ordered dumpsters twice a year for years, but as soon as Republic Services took over Rainbow Disposal, the customer service is a ZERO! We have been double billed, the rent a bin last time was never picked up and we had to keep calling, and this third bin we rented never showed up. My husband took Friday off from work and the bin never showed. Even with several calls to them...they have no idea why the bin didn't show up and nobody calls us back as promised. It's a shame that the city of Fountain Valley has a contract with this company, as we are stuck using them if we need to rent a bin. read more

What happened to Rainbow? I always had good service but do not like what I see with the name change. Our neighbors moved out about 10 days ago and 1 of there dumpsters has been sitting in front of the house stacked with trash ever since. I called them today to request they pick up the bin and was told the account was closed and they could give no information on when it might be picked up. What??? Is there a zero rating available? What a nightmare! I tried calling numerous times and was placed on hold on each occasion, waiting at least a half hour before I gave up. A couple of times I selected the "call me back" option, but they didn't call back. When I finally did get through, the lady put me on hold to look up a price and then disconnected me, not having the courtesy of calling me back even though they had my number. This review is for dumpster service from Rainbow, also-known-as Republic services. If I could give them zero stars I would. Republic is quite possibly the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I used them once for a 3-yard dumpster rental in Huntington Beach with no issues. I tried to rent from them a second time and it was as if I was dealing with a whole different company. I placed my order with them on a Monday, for delivery on Wednesday of the same week. I was told by the sales rep that Republic only delivers on Wednesdays and picks up on Fridays. I filled out their paperwork, filled out the contract with electronic signatures and provided payment. I then called Republic in the afternoon of the next day, Tuesday, to get a delivery window. The rep said that they don't give delivery windows until the day of but that they hadn't completed my order and wouldn't be delivering the dumpster. The rep said that the person who initially handled my order hadn't completed the paperwork so they weren't going to be delivering. No one from Republic called or emailed me to let me know that. I then filled out the paperwork a second time, did the Docusign and provided payment again for delivery the next day. I called Republic at 7am the next day, Wednesday, to get a delivery window and guess what??? The rep told me that they wouldn't be delivering that day because they lost or hadn't completed my paperwork again. And again, no phone call or email from Republic to let me know about this. I had already made plans and hired labor to help me fill the dumpster. After many phone calls, many transfers and hours on hold with Republic, I was able to speak to a supervisor that told me they would deliver the dumpster that day after all. Around 10am I called to see what time the dumpster would be delivered and guess what again? Republic said they weren't going to be delivering the dumpster that day after all but that they would be delivering the next day. They were still going to charge the same amount for one less day and still collect it on Friday. I asked them to cancel the delivery and that I would figure something out later. Republic proceeded to charge my credit card 3 times and when I tried to dispute it they would not refund me. I had to dispute the charges through my bank and even then Republic disputed the charge-back. This is just an abbreviated version of what I had to go through with in dealing with Republic. I probably spent about 10 hours on the phone with them between ordering the dumpster and trying to get my money back. I also spent money on labor that I was unable to use. These people are either crooks or have no idea what they're doing. read more
