A cute little sweets and candy store in downtown Monroe, Wisconsin. Exactly the type of shop you would expect to find in a small, tourist town square. We stopped in after a visit to Minhas Distillery and Brewery just around the corner. It is probably a stroke of genius that they remain open for another hour or two after Minhas closes...get the people doing the trifecta (a winery too!) to get some sweets munching on before driving back to...wherever. They have weird sodas, all the sweets you could ever imagine, ice cream, fudge, and fancy gourmet popcorn. Among ourselves, we got a bag of popcorn and a pound and a half of fudge (three different flavors) and enjoyed a brief browsing of of the candy! I am certain that if I found myself back in Monroe, I would stop in again. The corner store brings back memories! Way back in the day this used to be Ruefs Confectionary. Times change. Now it is Rainbow Confections. Yet it still remains true to some of the memories of the old confectionary corner store. When you walk in your greeted with confectionary delights like its from an old time store. There is real buttered popcorn, ice cream, fudge, a variety of candies. Some fun delights are jelly belly candies including beanboozled. Flat old time taffy, reguar taffy, and some more eclectic treats. Some of the more interesting candies were the tongue tattos. (Yes, I bought some!) And a pickle juice flavored ice pop. (Yes, I bought some) They were both interesting and fun novelties. The store also has some stuffed animals. I really enjoyed this store. And I like sjppping at places like this because they are not large box sotees. They are small locally owned. It helps to support local businesses. The staff was extemely friendly. Thumbs up for that. I love love love this place. The popcorn flavors are incredible. From the savory tomato basil to the sweet s'mores flavor or the puppy chow flavor that tastes likes peanut butter cups over popcorn I can't get enough of it. The fudge is delicious too and the service is great. read more
