We heard great things about Circle H but what a disappointment! We purchased 2 top sirloin steaks (…read moretotal two pounds ) and they were very tough and had little taste. We ate less than half and threw the remainder away. We also bought some fajita beef so we're hoping it's better or at least good enough to eat all of it. We won't be returning.

I spend almost couple hundred dollars each time I go and this last time I bought a seasoning and when I got home to use it, it was unsealed and the seasoning was pretty hard so I assumed that maybe some moisture got into it. I went back to go see if I can exchange it for a new one and the blonde lady that was working there, not sure if she's the owner or whatever but stared at me as if I was just talking out of my ass, then walked over to the seasonings just to then talk to me like I was stupid and acted like I didn't know what i was talking about or I was lying about it being opened and then tried to convince me that all of the seasonings Are like that. She also said that the lid most likely tore the seal off itself, which that has never happened to me before but either way, the seasoning was hard, and there was no telling how long it had been open on the shelf. Some of them did stick closer to the top, but once you shook it, it all easily broke apart, the one I have is almost completely solid from top to bottom. EITHER WAY, I would've loved a seasoning that was completely sealed when I open it. Instead of just exchanging the $12 seasoning after spending almost $200 there just a couple days before, she gave me a really hard time about it and was super rude and basically told me none of the other seasonings were any better like a "too bad, so sad" attitude. I just said OK and she just walked right back to the front without saying another word to me. Her facial expressions and the way she quickly dismissed me was just so uninviting and disrespectful and me and my toddler just walked out. We won't be going back there. I'll find a new place to get our meat.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!

For those choosing flavor over ambiance, La Mexicana is a clear winner. It's a large grocery store…read morewith a phenomenal butcher in the back. Some of the best cuts of goat and beef that I've ever seen, for a very reasonable price. The shelves were stocked full of various dried chillis, canned foods, rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, and much more. This isn't the reason why I came here though. Walking through the main entrance, an immediate right, takes you straight to the takeout counter. There, behind a class case, is a selection of freshly cooked Mexican food. There's choices of pork, beef, and chicken, cooked in various ways. Lechon, chicharron, carnitas, bistek, and much more, along with rice, beans, etc. I decided on a lechon burrito grande, went to the register to pay, then came back, and was handed my burrito, after my receipt was verified. Then I headed over to the condiments station, and added some onion, cilantro, chopped cabbage with sliced pickled jalapenos, and some green salsa to my burrito. I was quite surprised when I bit into my burrito, but it was just the juicy succulent meat, wrapped in the tortilla. No rice, no beans, nothing else; just meat inside the tortilla. The most authentic Mexican eats that I've had in Texas. I can't wait to come back here. One thing to note, many of the employees on spoke Spanish, and I was the only non-Spanish speaking customer at the time. I had no issues communicating and felt welcomed here.

The kind of…read moreplace where you walk in for "just one thing" and walk out with enough meat to feed a small army because everything looks that good. The vibe is pure small-town Texas: friendly, welcoming, and run by people who clearly know their craft. The team behind the counter will help you pick the right cut, give you cooking tips, and probably share a laugh or two while you're at it. And the quality? Top-tier. Whether you're grabbing steaks, sausage, roasts, or specialty cuts, everything is fresh, beautifully trimmed, and packed with flavor. The sausage alone is worth the drive the kind that reminds you why Texas takes meat so seriously. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and you can tell every product is made with pride. It's the kind of butcher that makes you excited to fire up the grill the second you get home. If you're anywhere near Miles, do yourself a favor and swing by Sklenarik's. You'll leave with great meat, a better mood, and probably a plan for your next barbecue.

A friend had brought me some meat snack sticks from here that were really good. I happened to be passing through so I stopped. They have a great store front with a big variety of things. Several freezers full of frozen meat, veggies, breaded stuff like pickles and mushrooms. Several things caught my eye. But I was here for jerky and snack sticks. A variety of different flavors. I got some bacon ranch, jalapeño, habanero, and yes, some ghost pepper. Damn, that ghost pepper is HOT!! I took a big bite and that might have been a mistake. Water please! But I'm a man, so you got to try it. You know, the macho thing! The habanero was just about right. They also carry several kinds of sauces and spices for cooking or grilling. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. It's about 2 blocks off the highway so easy to get to. I'll be back.
