I previously took their introductory course and…read morepurchased a gun from them, so I expected my first solo visit to the range to feel welcoming and beginner-friendly. Unfortunately, that wasn't really the case. When I walked in, I made eye contact with the staff member behind the counter and explained that it was my first time shooting here since taking their intro class. Instead of any kind of greeting or friendly acknowledgment, he immediately asked for my last name. After looking me up, he told me (without much explanation) to go to the middle computer for the intro video and then the side computer for the waiver. When I asked for clarification on what "side computer" meant, he simply repeated the instructions with noticeable attitude. It set a pretty unwelcoming tone. The video and waiver were easy, and when I came back to the counter, I let him know I brought some of my own ammo since you need to declare that. He told me to "take it out" so he could check it. After that, he just listed off, "ear protection, eye protection, targets, ammunition?" I already had my own gear, so I asked for just a target and ammo. He instructed me to turn around and pick a target. After paying, he pointed me to a bay and reiterated rules that the safety video already covered, and that was essentially the end of our interaction. He didn't ask if I had any questions or clarify anything else. The actual range itself is functional and was a fine experience. But I'm glad I did some YouTube research about how gun ranges work beforehand, because the lack of guidance here would have been pretty intimidating. As a newer gun owner, I was hoping for staff who felt more approachable and patient. Overall, I was disappointed that the customer service for newcomers was so unwelcoming, especially from a place where I had taken a class and bought my firearm.

Everything is structured and range rules are very strictly enforced (which makes sense for a public…read morerange) and is a great place to take those whom are new to firearms. All of their rules are posted on their website for each respective range, it's a good idea to check them out beforehand. I often come here when I need to confirm or reconfirm a zero on a rifle optic, and it's very nice that their rifle range has spotting scopes and brass deflectors at no extra cost. For those that like to either run training drills or mag-dump into trash, this isn't the place for it. They unfortunately have Fudd rules here for a reason, don't take it personally. My advice? Just bring a single 10 round mag because that's all they'll let you load into a rifle anyways.

I find the prices to be reasonable. I absolutely love that I can complete the "classroom" portion of the training online, on my own timeline and in the comfort of my own home. When it comes to scheduling the "hands on" portion, I found the online scheduling to be easy to use and there's a ton of range options and dates to choose from. Training with Michael Cox is always a pleasure. He's very knowledgeable and has an easy going personality that makes anyone feel comfortable, regardless of their previous firearm experience. It's obvious that safety is his top priority, and that helping you understand and learn what you need to know is his close second priority. It is a bit costly but I would say it worth the price if you come regularly. It's also a great option for me as it includes the rental fees and I'd like to try different guns each time. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. One small thing to mention: They do provide shotguns for rental but the only standard option is KS7, which is cool if it's not jamming. I went to rent it twice and it both jammed. Staffs are nice as they switched Benelli M4 to me which was intended to be a "premium" rental. Would be nicer if they also provide 590/870/any other pump-action shotguns as standard options in the future. Apart from that, there's nothing I can complain. There was a time I went to the range with a friend who's shooting for the first time. Chris was very helpful and provides my friend with a quick but through intro and some other helps. For the shop: Great service. There's a young staff who is really friendly and helpful. No one would push you to make decisions here (which I like it) but you can always find helps if needed.

When I asked why, I was initially told it was sales tax, and later the explanation changed to use tax. I don't believe either explanation was correct. The promotion was advertised in the store as a buy-one-get-one-free offer, and I had already paid approximately $200 in tax on the rifle purchase. From my understanding, I should not have been charged an additional $64 for the promotional firearm. I have purchased several firearms from this store over The last few months, but this experience changed my opinion. After paying higher transfer fees and then dealing with what I believe was an incorrect tax charge, I won't be doing business here again. I hope the extra $64 was worth losing a repeat customer.

Next, two different instructors worked with us as a pair. They reviewed proper stances, basic movements, punches, and a couple of blocks. We did some of this work with punching bags, the instructors and each other. They made it interesting, fun, and empowering. They were very encouraging. One was lighthearted and upbeat and the other more serious but patient and very nice. I enjoyed the intimate setting and small class size. In addition to classes they have a small gym that is available to students free as long as the dojo is open. I might have to finagle my work schedule to make this work but we felt good about this experience and plan on continuing with either the one month unlimited trial or five class pass. Based on my first impression, this is totally worth it!

Date: 5/15/22 Time: 8am - 6pm…read more I shot a gun for the first time ever during Alan's 9-hour Gun Safety Class yesterday. Long, but worth it/well done! When I think of Alan's teaching style, I think precision. The man is precise & seriously communicated the need to handle firearms appropriately/responsibly. At first, I thought Alan was someone I would be playing DnD or watching the Sci-Fi channel with. But do not let looks deceive you! The man is a committed father to his (9) year old daughter & is handy with the steel if you know what I mean. Alan controls the gun; the gun does not control Alan. That is essentially what he seeks to impart on his students. You experience (4) rounds of firing various handguns in the range. Alan leads the class from the classroom to the shooting range with another instructor or has his own class. Impressive timing. You have (2) other instructors watching you like a hawk. It can be surprising at first, but they move your hands around to help you correctly hold a gun. Bad habits are difficult to correct. I am glad they have this sense of urgency in class. The 2nd Amendment in the US Constitution was put there to empower the individual to protect themselves against a government that had too much power used incorrectly. If you choose to vote to restrict it, at least shoot a gun once to better understand the political arguments on an experiential level. There is already a large segment of the US population that is trying to restrict abortion for women. But how can they be so sure that is the right course of action? How many voting to restrict abortion have had one and/or been forced to have one themselves? To truly understand something like the pain a mother goes through when she decides to abort her baby or why so many Americans are adamant on the 2nd Amendment, you need to experience it. You undeniably get a better understanding through lived experience. The majority of Americans will never have an abortion, but we can shoot guns after a certain age. Take Alan's class & shoot some guns. Come to your own conclusions. As for me, Alan's class makes me proud to be an American. I am looking forward to taking his multi-state permit class next month! Thanks, Alan and team! -----------------UPDATE------------------------- I-1639 + Multi State Concealed Carry Class Date: 6/12/2022 Time: 8am - 12:30pm Instructor: Alan Hines My 2nd class with Alan did not disappoint. I surprised to find a fingerprinting agent there. Excellent value add there. I didn't realize the certificate of completion at the end helped you buy a rifle in WA state. Not my intention, but good to know if you want that. Alan's attention to detail down to the color of the pen you need to use shines here. It's amazing how the smallest error can cause a kickback in your application. What you will notice about this class is that it is gun safety/suicide prevention/WA state heavy. Alan allocates less than an hour for the verbose Utah state classes. I would've liked to see more time spent on that and the nuances of gun permits in other states. What this does emphasize is Insights commitment to gun safety. It's just a personal opinion that I think Alan focuses less on gun safety and more on permit/state laws. A final suggestion is to add filling out the Arizona application. That requires (1) more fingerprinting card & an Arizona specific application. But the gun permit in AZ gets you a permit in New Mexico. Extra work for the fingerprinting agent, but a value add for the customer for sure. I appreciate Alan's organized packet that is in sync with his presentation. Thanks again, Alan! ------------------------------------- Pepper Spray Seminar Date: 6/12/2022 Time: 2pm - 5pm I came back from the Bai Tong Thai Restaurant (I recommend it!) to find that Alan was not my instructor! It was a gentleman named Benjamin. I noticed Alan was in the back of the class. Benjamin's style is more storytelling and fun than Alan's (but Alan's got jokes too!). Benjamin draws on his extensive military & police experience to color his teachings. Like Alan, a committed father & husband who is concerned with the safety of those he loves. Benjamin definitely tells it to you straight. He has a more visceral style than Alan. Mainly because the last part of the class involved him pretending to be an attacker & the students discerning when they could spray him (not real pepper spray of course lol). I didn't participate because I am a bit conflict averse. However, I found it helpful to see an ex-police officer show you what would & would not fly from an officer's perspective. I wish he got more into how the potential legal struggle would pan out if you got into a "He said, She said" scenario where you pepper sprayed someone legally, but they claimed you attacked them. There aren't always witnesses, video or audio. My final feedback is that he wasn't as organized as Alan. Thank you for a fun & useful day, Alan and Benjamin!
