I love my fellow Yelp!-ers for helping me find Rambha aka the end of ripping my skin out for the sake of not looking like a mustached man with a uni-brow. I never tried threading, but then again, I never lived in Tempe, so I thought, While I've got a trend of doing new things going on, why not try out this threading business? Well, let me tell you: threading/Rambha is AWESOME. It's such a strange feeling for first-timers, but it doesn't hurt, and it's so much less mess and less fuss than waxing. I went to get my brows and upper lip threaded, and the result was a great look minus the pain, minus the remaining sticky residue, and plus the rest of my day to go out to enjoy instead of hiding out to shield society from having to be alarmed by my red, swollen face. The only downside from my experience was that Rambha answered a phone call during my session and proceeded to converse for the next 5-10-ish minutes while leaving me to just hang out. I thought that was kind of unprofessional, but it wasn't a deal breaker cuz I'll be back. Plus, if going back means the possibility of seeing this guy I saw there in his two-sided puss n' boots t-shirt again, I'm so there. Note: Rambha only takes cash or check, but she prefers cash (who doesn't?). Once you enter the salon, be sure to walk down the hallway to the left because that's where Rambha's little section sits. You can try to follow the instructions upon walking into the salon by using the electronic registering service, but I did, and it did nothing. I just waited until Rambha came out to get coffee and just happened to ask if I was waiting for something. Made an appointment with Rahmba to have my face threaded. On the RagTops website full face price is $30.00 and eyebrows are $12.00. When Rhamba was finished (she caught a lot of my hairline in her threads-OUCH!) I asked her how much I owed her. She quoted me $45.00!! When I said the website said $30 she said that doesn't include the eyebrows!?!?! but she will settle for $40. My eyebrows are on my face!! But even if they weren't included $30.00 + $12.00= $42.00. I won't be going back. I do not like people that change their prices at whim. read more

I had a groupon for a $12 deal on a eyebrow and lip wax, so had to try it out. Appointments were easy to make and every stylists/aesthethician works for themselves. (that means you pay them directly) Came here on a weekday and it was fairly busy. The salon is on the right and there are a couple of rooms for facials and waxing services. My wax overall was OK. My brows were much thinner than I would have liked (thank God they grow back) but wasn't painful. I asked about the type of wax they use and it looked like the same kind most other salons use. I wasn't sure whether they double dipped or not. I couldn't tell since I was laying down. My service overall took about 25 minutes. read more

I can only review Rag Tops for hair-removal, not their hair styling. That being said, this is the place I come for eyebrow threading. My friend introduced me to Rambha, one of the only people she could find in the Valley who did threading, a few years ago. Since then, I've come consistently. In fact, I've tried to get my eyebrows threaded in other places, like Chicago and LA, when I've visited them, because I knew it would be cheaper than the $12 bucks Rambha charges. But it hurts a lot more, and they never look as nice. Rambha's great. The only star I've taken off is for the fact that her appointment system seems a bit off. Sometimes you end up waiting for an extra 10-15 minutes for a procedure that takes about 5 minutes, so that can be annoying. But regardless of that, I'll definitely be returning to Rag Tops so Rambha can do my eyebrows! read more

I am officially a threading convert! Today Rambha threaded my brows for the first time and I am thrilled with the result. I usually get my brows waxed but my skin is crazy sensitive (red, swollen, and broken-out after waxing is common for me) and I'd heard that threading is great for sensitive skin. Rambha gave my brows a very natural look that wont take too much work to keep up in between appointments. As other yelpers have mentioned, be sure to go the the hallway to the far left when you walk in. I walked to the hallway just to the left of the reception and this led to some confusion with getting into my appt on time (this is the only reason I didn't give this review five stars). Walk down the far left hall (past the hair products) and sit at the seats closest to the soda and candy machine. Otherwise, folks who know the drill will get in before you (which was what happened to me). If you have sensitive skin I highly suggest Rambha and her threading skills! read more

FYI - Rahmba does not work here anymore. There is a new girl - Nancy. She did a really good job with my eyebrows. However, she did overcharge me compared to what is said on the website. I can't believe I'm about to blow my chances of getting threaded for my brows with my review of this joint. My days of Sasquatch begins now. Ragtops Salon & Spa blows! Prior to moving to AZ, I did a bit of research on places to get threaded. Okay, so my research was minimal but I thought I stumbled upon my new favorite salon after a few solid reviews of Ragtops, Rambha in particular. I knew she was difficult to book on some level so I planned a visit a week in advance. I called the "receptionist" and specifically told her that I need to make an appointment for threading and a manicure. She said the best way to go about that is to "book an appointment with Rambha and then a nail tech would be available when Rambha is finished with me". So I took her advice and booked an appointment with Rambha. My appointment was set for 2:35pm on a Tuesday afternoon. I decided to drive up to Ragtops a bit early trying to avoid getting lost or hitting traffic. I arrived at 2pm. The salon is located in the least picturesque strip mall. The interior didn't help either. When I walked in, I saw a full service "hair salon" to my right. This is the side that carries an awful stench of bleach and burnt foils. Not to mention the outdated photos of 1980s hairstyles hung on the walls. Bleck! Nothing about that salon screamed modern. To my left was a bunch of closed doors. Smack dab in the reception area is an empty reception desk with a large sign that demands the customer to "page their stylist" by typing an assigned number on an ach/debit/credit card looking keypad. Just wondering what would happen if I did not have an appointment, would typing any number guarantee a stylist would show up at the door to greet me? That remains to be seen. I did have an appointment and did happen to show up early so I tried my luck and typed Rambha's number, sat down and thumbed through some magazines. About 2:30pm rolled around and I was still sitting there. Hmmm not good. Then 2:45pm and I heard a door on my left open and it was Rambha with a look of confusion on her face. She waved myself and another lady down to her and asked if we were there for our appointment. I told her my appointment was set for 2:35pm and I arrived at 2pm. The other lady mentioned her appointment was at 2:00pm and just arrived 5 minutes ago when Rambha was "paged". She apologized for falling behind schedule and was quick to put some of the blame on us for not sitting on her side of the salon. (Not that I knew which side she was located since there was no receptionist to confer with). So she asked which of us would like to go first. Being fair, I suggested the lady go first since her appointment was at 2pm. On their way to Rambha's room, another customer waiting "patiently" since 2:15pm was quick to interrupt them because her appointment was set for 2:15pm and she was there since 2pm. After a bit of arguing, this lady agreed to go after I had my appointment since I waited the longest. Was the appointment worth the wait? Hells no! It felt like an assembly line with one worker. Before the first lady left the room, Rambha had me on the table threading like a madwoman. She left the door open and the 2:15 appointment popped in to make her argument that she should have been first to get threaded. It seriously felt like an episode of Sally Jessy! That's right I said Sally Jessy, if you were in the salon you would agree with the homage to bad 80s TV. Getting back to my threading. It was sloppy and tense, so bad the thread snapped. Good grief! I kept telling myself, this can't be good if this is the only place I could go to get threaded. Finally the appointment was ending. After a glance in the mirror and an anguished look on my face, I asked how much. She charged me $25 for the eyebrows and upper lip. I winced, $25! Fine, I wrote a check and because I have no backbone, I left a $5 tip and took off. I didn't bother to wait for a manicure. I wanted to get the hell out of that place. When I got home, I took a longer look at the mirror and noticed the crappy job she did. Not only that I read one of the latest reviews and noticed, she overcharged me. Grrr! read more

The 2 positive Yelp reviews for Rambha Singh led me to her this evening for my first eyebrow threading appointment. The salon is located on the Northwest Corner of McClintock & Elliot in Crossroads Plaza. The salon is spacious and they have a water cooler with cups and current magazines to peruse while you wait. I sipped my water and read InStyle magazine for about 8 minutes until I was called in. Mrs. Singh is a warm and friendly woman. She led me into her room and I layed on her facial bed. I explained it was my first time and she went to work on my unibrow. She is fast and efficient. I would say I was in there 10 minutes tops. The threading is not painless, but if you have been plucking or waxing-this hurts less. She is so fast! You can tell she has been doing this for a very long time. I inquired about other facial services while she thread away and I hope to return to have some skin tags and pigmentation removed in the future. When she finished, she handed me a mirror to check the brows. They looked great-just what I was hoping for. I highly recommend this technician for eyebrow threading. This review pertains to a brow threading with Rambha only - no other services. I decided to do this once because I've heard threading is amazing (which it is!), and could only find this woman to do it. The price sounded good - $12 - and the location was close by. My first red flag should have been when I called to schedule my appointment and she didn't even ask for my name... EVER! Just an appointment time and then click, hung up. When we got to the salon, my boyfriend had to wait outside because he couldn't STAND the awful smell of this place! It's worse than any other salon I've been to. I could handle it, but he hated it and refused to go in again. Rambha didn't call me into her room until about 10-15 minutes past my appointment time, which was okay, but not very professional. Another client was barely out the door when she had me come in, and another person was in the room as well (never explained). She did a decent job on my brows, but she didn't really ask me how thin I wanted them. The real deal-breaker for me, though, was when she ANSWERED THE PHONE in the middle of my appointment. According to other reviews, this is nothing new. What "professional" does this? The threading itself took a while and hurt quite a bit, but the results looked pretty good, so I didn't say anything and left in a hurry. I figured maybe this was an off day. When I came back a second time, the exact same thing occurred, with a longer wait and another phone call. At that point, I knew I'd never come back. I would just like to say I LOVE getting my eyebrows done by Rambha. She does an amazing job!! never have my eye brows looked so good and clean. Whenever I get them done from Rambha people see the difference and are always asking where I get my eye brows done. Shes cheap, shes fast, and she does a great, professional job. My eyebrows usually stay clean and last about 4-5 weeks so it is worth it. I can't wait to make my next appointment and finally get my eyebrows back in shape. I highly recommend Rambha, plus shes one of the few people in Arizona that do threading..and are GOOD. Everytime I call to make an appointment I always get it, Rambha always asks what is convenient for me. some people say she might be expensive, well atleast she does a good job! The whole point of getting waxing or eyebrows is so you don't have to do it yourself, and get it professionally done which she does. keep up the good work Rambha you are doing a great job, and I WILL be coming back. :). Rambha is the best threader in the area. I have tried so many different places. She also normally has availability that day (within hours of calling), so you don't have to plan too far in advance. Show up on time, or you may end up waiting a little longer than you bargained for, though. Overall, she knows what she is doing and is uncomparable to others in the area. read more

The only way that I became familiar with ragtops salon was because of Rambha. I have been going to eyebrow threaders for years, and I was never satisfied with their work. Until I found Rambha. I was looking for a place that did eyebrow threading. I have always had my brows waxed but decided to try the latest thing. I made an appointment with "Nasrin" and she was able to schedule me in the next day. She made me feel completely at ease and answered the Dozens of questions I had about my skin. The threading did not hurt. It felt like my skin was being lightly tugged. It had been a while since my brows had any attention so they were a complete mess. She managed to shape them and make them look Beautiful. After getting my eyebrows done I brought up the fact that I rarely wore makeup and was trying to find a powder that wasn't too heavy. She took the time to do a before and after on my face using 1 of the TIGI cream powders that are sold there. I ended up buying one of the foundations. On the "Ragtops" web page I remembered that Nasrin also specialized in Brazilian blowouts. Once again she took the time to not only tell me how it worked but showed me on a lock of my hair. She showed me how even after the straightened piece was wet it stayed straight after drying. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON FOR THREADING. She really deserve a zero. First of all it's $45.00 for a full face, secondly she somehow cuts the hair off your face instead of removing it. Some spots are just left there with parts short and the other just left. I've been getting my face threaded for twenty years and this lady is the worse I've ever seen.
