They are well set up with flood lighting, but you would need to bring in specialized lighting and sound for some events. There is another big room with a perfect hardwood floor and a small stage and kitchen #1. A huge carpeted lounge and bar with ancient stained glass windows, and grandparent comfy couches. Similar feel to the dearly departed The Woods, but more exotic and ornamental. Other rooms of varying sizes. Very clean and nice bathrooms, and a ladies lounge. Commercial kitchen #2. The building is well maintained, but the carpets are due for an upgrade. The building has 4 levels connected by a grand staircase. There is an elevator, and a ramped entry to the side of the main doors, but if you need wheelchair access, you should check first and work with the staff, seems like those Masons liked to build stone entry stairs, a lot. The staff is great. They have a secure parking area, that is locked for the night when the staff leaves. They are adjacent to the Mallory Hotel DeLuxe, which has its own parking structure, should you need hotel services or their Driftwood Room for pre- or post- funking. Probably not a good idea to rent it on a Timbers game night, unless for a Timbers event, because parking would be a blood sport. And it's on the MAX light rail. The greatest thing about the space are all the Masonary paraphernalia, including spooky portraits of Masons past lining the hallways. Note when you rent the Scottish Rite Temple, they don't provide a map to the secret wing. Seriously there is a whole other wing. Mason secrets? Groupon doesn't expire for a while, and there are tons of painting events in the Portland area, especially on weekends. Painting events are commonly in downtown Portland, up north by Vancouver at the Red Lion Hotel, in Hillsboro, and there seems to be a few in Happy Valley and Gresham. Yaymaker seems to be good about catering to people from all around town. -You know what to expect beforehand. They show photos of what you're going to be painting, so you can book the class with the painting that appeals to you. -Our painting expert was knowledgeable, fun, and extremely friendly. She provided a very positive, easy going atmosphere. She played music in between instructions and gave us plenty of time to catch up. She was happy to take photos for us. -The class length is generous: about 2 hours. Everyone at my class seemed to be able to finish. A couple cons: -No complimentary wine. The advertising is misleading. They give a note that "This event requires all attendees must be of legal drinking age". My family and came in expecting to enjoy a glass of wine too, and we thought that we had paid for it (even with the Groupon discount, this class was expensive). I would've booked a class under a different business if I had known there wouldn't be any wine. -Groupon isn't actually cheaper. They have $10 coupons all the time on their website. I wanted to have a bigger group but assumed the best price is when buying for 4 people. I wish I had known, then I possibly would've considered adding more people to my party. Overall, it was a positive experience. I'm just glad I know what to expect now!

They also said I had to go through Groupon to get a refund for my voucher (which is another nightmare, but doesn't reflect on PaintNite). I cannot recommend anyone ever register for the Portland, OR class. You might not actually get a class.
