In our first meeting, Kira exuded such the perfect blend of professionalism, expertise, humor and empathic listening, we knew that she was the right agent for our purchasing a home in a low inventory area (San Geronimo Valley). Even though Kira is very established, and the founder of the Tam team at City Real Estate, she is unafraid to use old school connection strategies, like knocking on doors, to create new possibilities for her clients. Little did we know that our house purchase story would take so many twists and turns! Kira was right with us with every challenge, giving us excellent advice, navigating difficult negotiations, offering a sense of confidence, and caring deeply for our dream of buying a very special home. When our friends referred us to Kira, they kept insisting, "You have to use Kira as your agent! She creates magic!" Now, we have the privilege of passing on this very wise advice to friends and our wider community - there is no one more qualified, communicative, or committed to have on your side than Kira Swaim when buying or selling your home.

I was focusing my search around Bernal Heights and Noe Valley and needed an agent who could act fast. I emailed him late on a Thursday, and he somehow managed to get me a private showing by Friday. He also immediately hooked me up with some great lenders to get my financing sorted out. As a first-time buyer, I had a ton of "newbie" questions. Lucas was always super patient, organized, and incredibly quick to respond to my texts and emails. The best part about working with him was his honesty. When it was time to make an offer, I wanted to bid aggressively to make sure I beat out any all-cash buyers. A lot of agents would just say "go for it" to get the deal done, but Lucas actually took the time to warn me about the risks of overpaying and potential appraisal issues. It really showed he cared about my best interests, not just his commission. We ended up winning the house, and he helped me pull off a super fast 18-day close with financing. Even now that the deal is done, I'm still texting him for contractor and cleaner recommendations, and he's always happy to help. Overall, an amazing experience. I'd absolutely work with him again!

I don't even know where to start with this review. Stefan takes real estate expertise and customer…read moreservice to a whole new level. He has made it clear (and backed it up) that every client matters. When we first met him, we were CASUALLY looking at houses. I felt like we were wasting his time even asking him questions since we had no idea how long it'd be before we could actually buy. He never saw it that way. He's in it for the long haul. Here we are, about 18 months after meetings him, and we just got keys on our first house! When we finally got serious about buying a couple months ago, Stefan really helped us pave the way for landing our house. First of all, he used to be a builder, which is AWESOME when checking out houses. He'll tell you all the pros and cons to the materials used, condition, etc. (if you want to hear that, which I definitely did!). He also does a great job of making himself available for a client. I don't know when he sleeps, but he seems to be everywhere at once! Whether it was checking out a house for us while we were out of town, having his contractor come give an estimate for work (before we even put an offer), going to the city permit office to find out just how serious they are about an ordinance, arranging for free disposal of some junk left in our new house, or, just yesterday, helping us strategize on some old drywall, he's made it clear he takes these relationships seriously. We could NOT be happier with Stefan and his team. He also offered to connect us with his preferred mortgage broker, who was absolutely AMAZING to work with! He made it clear our needs and wants came first, and he did whatever it took to make them come true. That included keeping everything moving to get us closed in 18 days because we wanted to get in before some previously arranged time off! If you're looking to buy in the area, you need to call Stefan.

We starting working with Jim Ellis in February 2020. He was recommended by a friend who especially…read moreappreciated Jim's listening skills, patience, and years of experience as a real estate agent. We wanted to find a larger house in the Oakland/Alameda area to share with an elderly parent and sell the Oakland house we had lived in for 33 years. Due to all the uncertainties caused by COVID-19, we decided to sit out 2020 and early 2021 and started up house hunting again in April 2021. The Bay Area real estate market has never been crazier and Jim helped us negotiate all of it with a steady hand and wise counsel. His advice about improvements and repairs to make to our Oakland home was realistic and sound. His network of tradespeople, from flooring to painting, was invaluable. It is not an exaggeration to say that without exception, everyone we worked with had nothing but good things to say about Jim Ellis. He kept us on track with a firm hand and the result was a house that showed beautifully and sold well above asking. Did I mention that Jim is an extremely patient person? Early on he stressed that house buying is a process. We looked at many, many houses over the course of the year and never once did we feel any pressure to buy. He always emphasized that he wanted us to feel completely comfortable about our decision. Though we were priced out of Alameda and Oakland, we ended up in a truly beautiful mid-century modern house in the San Leandro hills that ticked most of the boxes we had established at the beginning of the search. Both the buying and selling process went very smoothly, we believe largely due to Jim's skills and years of experience in the field. He was always on top of what needed to be done and lines of communication were always open. I'll close with an example that demonstrates Jim's keen listening skills and illustrates perfectly who Jim is as a person. The new house we bought has an electric induction cooktop. I mentioned in passing to Jim that probably some of our pots and pans wouldn't work with induction technology. In less than a week after our conversation, Jim presented us with a beautiful set of cookware all compatible with an induction cooktop. Typical Jim Ellis thoughtfulness. It was a pleasure working with him.

By the time we were back in town, only a few things were left to do before we were able to put the house on the market. After less than 5 business days we had various offers and were able to sell above the asking price. We definitely recommend Jim for any future real estate needs!
