Scottish Country House about 30 mins out of Aberdeen in the middle of a wooded hillside.
Rooms a good size old fashioned in keeping with the manor house style, but not cheap at £120 for a double although may get it cheaper for single occupancy (phone and ask).
Menu was short with only four items per course, but I was looking at a set menu for £30, there may have been an al-la-carte. The food itself was good but a little too fancy for my taste, for instance my chicken came with a sautéed potato cake affair with a radius of say 6cms and height of 2cms - personally I prefer something a little more substantial. But it tasted good.
No draft bitter but that not unusual, they did have some great local bottled brew.
I would imagine the hotel does well for weddings - would be a lovely summer setting. read more
