I had a lovely visit to the Ramsay Arms Hotel last week. A group of us (about fifteen people in all) took over the hotel for a weekend meeting, and we were treated to great service, awesome food, and a close attention to detail. I might just be the typical American who found herself in love with a charming, quaint Scottish town ... then again, I can be pretty particular about my experiences while travelling, and I'm glad to report this hotel exceeded my expectations.
My room (#9) had a fantastic view of the town and was extremely clean, and the historic nature of the building only adds to its appeal. I can't say enough good things about the food (especially the cullen skink, ploughman's salad, and porridge), which was served to us in the in-hotel restaurant. There's free wi-fi available in the fireplace-warmed lobby, and the pub downstairs provided a cozy, friendly atmosphere. Likewise, our meeting room overlooking the beer garden was cozy, but not too small, and the skylights gave lots of beautiful, natural light. The service was fantastic, too. read more
