Extremely disappointing and honestly concerning experience…read more I was sent here through a Volkswagen dealership while my car was being serviced, and the entire process was handled poorly from start to finish. First, I asked reasonable clarifying questions about using an Apple Card for the rental hold process since the physical card intentionally has no printed numbers on it. Instead of calmly explaining the policy, the manager - Carlos - became hostile, raised his voice, accused me of "trying to force" him to do something, refused to provide any escalation contact, and ultimately hung up on me. When I returned later to pick up the rental, I specifically requested that the authorization be run as credit rather than debit so my available funds wouldn't immediately be pulled during an already stressful move. Despite that request, approximately $300 was immediately removed from my available balance. Then the rental vehicle itself had a defective driver's seatbelt. I reported it immediately. Staff acknowledged the issue, took it to a mechanic, and then told me there was nothing they could do and no other vehicles were available. So I was ultimately handed a vehicle with a known defect involving the driver's primary safety restraint system and told to take it anyway because there were no other options. The combination of hostile customer service, poor communication, payment handling issues, and being given a vehicle with an acknowledged safety defect made this an incredibly uncomfortable experience overall.

I had opted for the additonal insurance because I thought it was only going to be a day or two. When I found out the problem was a bit more serious, I called and they were kind enough to remove those charges and revised the work order without my needing to come in. The car was a bit sluggish at first - not their fault. But as soon as I ran a couple of tanks of premium gasoline through it, it was a joy to drive. It's unfortunate that people opt to refill their tanks on a loaner with the cheapest gasoline they can find. It's very inconsiderate to the next driver. All in all, these guys were great. I hope I never need to use them again though.

Less than 24 hours before my scheduled pickup, Avis called to cancel my reservation. The first person I spoke with told me they didn't have any cars available. However, when I spoke with a second person, I was given an entirely different explanation. I was told they simply would not honor my reservation because I was returning the car to a different location. Why would Avis accept and confirm a one-way reservation months in advance if they weren't willing to honor it? To make matters worse, I contacted Avis customer service to request some type of compensation for the inconvenience. I was told they couldn't do anything for me because I wasn't an Avis member. Apparently, being a paying customer with a confirmed reservation wasn't enough to warrant any consideration. We were traveling from out of state and had arranged our plans around this rental. Canceling at the last minute left us scrambling to find alternative transportation. The conflicting explanations, failure to honor a confirmed reservation, and complete lack of customer service made this an extremely disappointing experience. Better yet an extra long drive to return your beater on fumes. Body shop worthy dents, scratches, damages. Representative kept checking their watch as I photographed/documented what I refused to be held responsible for. Then the ubiquitous upsell for additional insurance coverage. Not gonna happen. They were patient with us (and some of the other customers I saw them interact with) and they made the whole process a bearable one.
