I received an email and a response, followed by an appointment request from Ben very quickly. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. The day of the appointment, Daniel showed up not only on time but early and ready to work. He was very knowledgeable and examined asked me what my concerns were to understand the situation. Then he asked me to show him the locations in question. I pointed him to the mold, and he took his time, carefully inspected the areas, photographed the areas, and explained to me what he was finding, in non-scientific terms, potential causes, and the dangers. I showed him some mold I was growing in petri dishes, and he explained what I had, and I knew right away I had hired the right company. He was not in a rush and answered all my questions making sure I was 100% satisfied. We had him take air samples of several rooms, and once the air reports came in, he reviewed the reports with us, answering all our questions, explaining the different types of molds, reasons, and causes. Anyone can go to school and get a degree or training, but it is so hard to get this level of customer support these days, and I would highly recommend it. He told me that if I have any issues or questions, I should call him back after the concerning types of molds are found in the air. This is next-level customer support. Thank you, Daniel

I do NOT recommend this company. They inspected my home recently for a prospective buyer…read more They installed a radon test on the wrong level of the home, with every window open, directly in front of a running fan. They plugged in a washing machine that was specifically stated to not work and not be included in the sale of the home, and attempted to get it running, then LEFT it on when they left the house, so I came home to a broken washer making loud grinding noises and rocking back and forth (had been left this way for several days.) And the kicker is that the guy tracked mud all over my house AND used my bathroom and left the toilet seat up! (During the radon test installation - not during the inspection - he should not have even been in the bathroom let alone leaving the SEAT up. Yuck.) I ended up losing my buyer because of this guy's incompetent inspection.

And the final inspection report arrived a few hours afterward, which included photos, videos and links to recall information. I highly recommend Metro Property Inspections.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Metro Property Inspections. I asked the…read moreinspector specifically before he arrived (I could not be there due to Covid-19) to check a bank of lights on the ceiling of the garage that wasn't working. I asked if the power was not working or the light bulbs were burned out. He told me after the inspection that there was power to it so I assumed they worked. Well, when I put in new light bulbs after buying the house it didn't work. The bank of lights doesn't work and it will cost me several hundred dollars to repair. Had I been told of the issue that I specifically asked about, the fixing cost could have been negotiated into the sale. There were other issues with the inspection but when you specifically ask if something works and are given wrong information that is unfortunate. When I asked the inspector about it after the fact, he said he didn't have a light bulb (there were light bulbs working on the other bank of lights). He did come to the house to look at it again after the fact but offered no explanation on why it didn't work and said he couldn't move a light bulb during the inspection (but he should have come prepared since I told him what the issue was beforehand). I credit him for at least coming back over. But after I paid, he had often not returned messages and was going to have something done for me related to the inspection report but never did. My advice would be to look elsewhere for an inspector. Sure, inspectors miss things but when you specifically bring up something for an inspector to check and are given wrong information, that's not acceptable.

The report we received after the inspection was detailed and highly professional, and he was happy to explain issues in as much detail as I asked. Issues in a home can send you into panic mode- this is a huge investment, and I don't want to get screwed on something. Matt made it easy to understand the differences between major and minor concerns, and gave advice for small things around the house that will keep it in great shape for years to come. He did not do anything about either the closet that had had sewage flow into it or the shreds of toilet paper on the tile floor until they were pointed out to him. And after he wiped the tile floor, he used the same cloth to wipe off the door handles he had just sprayed with disinfectant. We talked to him about the need to move the furnace so he could clean behind and under it, but he told us that we would have to arrange for that ourselves. He didn't move anything else out of the furnace room or attempt to clean up the shredded toilet paper that was visible in the corners of the furnace room (see photo). We now have another company that appears to have the right idea about what needs to be done and how to do it.

They did this quickly and efficiently, for two floors plus my attic stairwell--plus spray-foaming my rim joist--for a fair price. But. They talked about sealing my very drafty front door. I'd paid $95 for it, then he never did it. I tried texting Matt, and it took 2-3 texts for every update I got. He couldn't find the materials. Then he did. Then he didn't after all. Then silence. Ten messages' worth over a year. Then a message he'd moved out of state. I asked for that portion of my money back and got nothing. I think the pandemic and life upheaval might have proved too much for this business to follow through on details. If you're just getting stuff blown in or sprayed, go for it. But anything more? First of all, I appreciated how quick and easy it was to get the inspection appointment set up with Gadget Home Inspections. During the actual inspection I was amazed at how thorough Jeff was. (I even shared our results with many family members, and everyone also commented how thorough of a job he did!) Then during the walk-through towards the end of the inspection he answered all my questions with no hesitation. I know nothing about home repairs or what causes certain things, so I just wanted to have a better understanding of the things he was recommending. I felt like I was a nuisance with all my questions but he was so knowledgeable and patient with me. I truly appreciated it! After the inspection he sent us an electronic version of our report. It was nice to have a picture and notes with all of his recommendations. Also, there's a feature in the report that you can easily create a Request List of all the recommendations that you'd like to bring forward. It made things so easy for us! To top it all off, there was an area that Jeff wasn't able to access at the time of the inspection. The seller was able to make adjustments and Jeff came back to look at the area he was initially not able to. That is an example of how thorough Jeff is. Thank you Jeff and Gadget Home Inspections!
